How do you replace the thermostat on a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera?
Almost the same as any other car, find the upper radiator hose, it is a larger supple rubber hose that connects the top of the radiator to the engine block. Remove it from the engine block, there is most likely a bracket which would house the thermostat, simply remove this housing, scrape the old gasket material away, replace the thermostat and install a new gasket. Also, you don't need to crank down on these bolts like your life depends on it, just snug them well. Reattach the radiator hose and top of your coolant if you lost any.

This has to be done with a OBD2 scan tool. You might be able to get your local Autozone or Advanced Auto parts to do it. But different government agencies have been telling them not to do it. So you either have to buy the scan tool to do it, or pay to have someone else do it. Its cheaper probly to do it yourself. I think AutoZone has a small hand held scanner tool for 50 bucks or so. Its the same tool they use to scan your car if you ask them too. Ask them to borrow it so you can reset your light, sometimes the let you do that too..

How do you change out the flasher relay and where is it located on a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera?
To replace the cylindrical flasher relay, pull out the ash tray to its fullest, and remove the top two bolts inside, one on each side. Push the ash tray mostly in so you can access the bottom two bolts, one on each side. Pull out and lower the ash tray until the tube-looking bulb in the center, which is hidden behind the panel, appears. Don't pull out too far, as wires still connect this bulb. With a pliers, grab the left plastic side of the bulb where the wires connect, and slowly twist away from you, pulling out at the same time, until the bulb is freed. Lower the ash tray rear and pull a bit to the left until the cylindrical flasher appears. It is clamped to the very right side end of the ash tray. Pull it out of its clamps. Remove the flasher from the pair of wire plugs. You may have to use a regular screw driver to jimmy them loose. Replace the flasher. Reverse the process.

The wiring diagram ahows that the power feeds the motor all the time but its turned on by connecting the negative side on thru a relay. if a short is found in the wire and it grounds out then the motor will try and run. So either a wire is grounded between the antenna and the relay. Or the relay could be bad.

On the 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S ,V6, 3.3 some of the AC Compressors had O Rings & others used flat washers. That Year they used some with O rings & some with flat washers. I called the Chevrolet Dealer where I bought mine & that is what they told Me. The Auto Parts place said the same thing. You have to look at Your old Compressor to tell. Mine has the Compressor with flat washers!!

Where is the location of the heater blower relay on a 1989 Olds Ciera SL with a 3.3L engine?
On 1993 Ciera 3.3 V6 the heater blower relay is located inside engine compartment, just behind right front headlight area. There are 4 or 5 relays there. Use wire colours to determine which relay goes to heater motor.
Relay part can be separated from the wiring system. Inside it you will see the male connectors - the power connector may be burned. The female connectors are in the other half and are attached to wires going to the heater blower. Check the female connectors to ensure they have not been heated and melted by the faulty relay. If they have they need replacement too.
The male relay is easy to replace - most auto parts stores will have this part and it is a "plug and play" fix.
The female end with the wires going to the heater is another story. It is part of a large wiring harness, which is usually only available at a dealer. If this part needs replacing too, consider going to wrecking yard and just cut one off a wreck and splice it in onto your car. Break it apart from the old relay at the wreckers to make sure it hasn't been burned inside by a faulty relay. If it has keep going to the next wreck until you find a good one.
Always replace the relay itself with a new one. Don't trust an old one from a wreck. Cost will be around $50 and well worth the piece of mind on the highway on a cold winter day.

To remove the radio. 1. remove the ashtray, and 2 corner vent diffusers. There are bolts to remove in ashtray area and inside Left/right most vents. 2. remover the rubber steering wheel trim ring. then remove the whole vent diffuser assembley. 3. remove the 4 screws at the top of the instrument cluster. and the 4-5 at the bottom. (covered up by the vent piece).
I have read a common problem with the 90-93 Oldsmobile cutlass is that the ground on the shift silinoid can cause it to lose 3rd and 4th gear, I am trying to figure out where it is located.

It is located just above the ashtray and below the radio, somewhat to the left side. It has sufficient wiring to be pulled down to change it, if now you need to remove some of the paneling, which is a time consuming process. In a perfect scenario, all you would need to do it pull out the ash tray, remove the frame above it, then reach up or see the flasher unit (it is about half the size of a 35mm film canister), then swap it out.
