How do you remove thistles?

Controlled burns, cover crops, ground cover, mowing, natural enemies and solarization when the thistle is considered a weed and needle, salves, tape, tweezers and wax hair remover when the thistle is embedded in skin are ways to remove thistles. Thistle cannot tolerate alfalfa, burns by controlled fires or from light-absorbing, weighted-down black plastic ground covers, buzz-cuts from extreme mowing schedules, painted lady butterfly caterpillar and weevil feeding, shade or tillage. It is important to institute the above-mentioned controls during the plant's first year, before first bloom times.

What preys upon a jacaranda tree?

Fungi and salt prey upon jacaranda trees.

Specifically, the jacaranda tree (Jacaranda acutifolia, J. mimosifolia) generally can be counted upon to cause few problems in the private and public places in which it may be planted. It nevertheless is sensitive to certain fungi and to salt water. It may perish from the fungal disease known commonly as mushroom root rot and scientifically as Armillaria root disease. Without immediate attention to soil drainage and treatment schedules, the proliferation of mushrooms at the tree's base in summer and fall will bode poorly for jacaranda below-ground (and therefore also above-ground) body parts.

How do you get rid of fleas in the yard?

Get a good pesticide concentrate and fill a hose end sprayer. Set the dial to 1 ounce per gallon and spray your yard outside. Keep sprinklers off for a day or 2. If you have pets put flea collars on them or give them a flea bath at about the same time.

A greener way would be to spray your yard with nicotine tea. You can make this yourself (I'll leave the recipe below). The only thing to consider is that this will kill all insects in your yard, and it would be a good idea to keep the cat and dog out of the yard for a couple days.

Nicotine Tea:

1 lb. loose tobacco (type does not matter, the cheapest will do).

Water.

  1. Boil two quarts of water
  2. To the water, add one cup of loose tobacco
  3. Allow to steep and cool.
  4. Place a coffee filter in a funnel or wire basket and filter the water through it into a large enough container to hold it. I prefer a gas can, and have mixed up as much as a gallon or two at a time.
  5. Place the nicotine tea in a sprayer, and beginning along the edge of your home, spray in a spiral pattern outward.

Some people will use the tea prepared this way as a concentrate, and mix it one for one with water. Others use chewing tobacco, and you may want to consider this if you are spraying around tomatoes (Tomatoes are susceptible to the Tobacco Mosaic Virus, which is essentially dead in North America, but may be carried in Turkish tobaccos).

Nicotine tea will kill most insects within minutes of contact. It is organic, so will be absorbed into the environment more redily than other chemical pesticides. And, is largely harmless to humans (except if drank--don't do this and keep it away from children).

Will bombs kill bed bugs?

Some but not all. It has to be really concentrated since they are hardy and they can smell it coming so before it gets to that point, many will go into walls away from most of it and those in places like inside your furniture or boxsprings (extremely common) will be completely sheltered. There is also no residual killing effect. Professional companies almost never use any kind of fog on a bb treatment for those reasons.

Permethrin is a pesticide which can control mill bugs. But householders must be careful in its use since the pesticide is toxic to such beloved domestic animals as cats. The chances of missing or skipping a dose are also reduced drastically because a single administration works for 30 days.

Other than that, it is always easier to chase your dog for one administration than several.

A lot of many preventatives present on the market have a varied level of coverage. They offer different protection and thus must be given according to the requirement of the pet, but have some suggestion check them out here: ibit.ly/1bBu

One has a well and septic system. After returning from a long weekend away there was a frog sitting in the toilet bowl of the downstairs bathroom. How would the frog have gotten into the toilet?

The frog is that prince of a fellow your wife is having an affair with. She must have let him stay there for the weekend. Upon your return, your wife, being a woman, needed to run to the bathroom first, before you. When she got to the bathroom, there he was. So she kissed him. One of those special kisses, the ones that turn adulterous fellows into frogs. Then she tossed him in the toilet, which she was just about to flush when you walked in. You saved the dear fellow. Drive him to a pond far, far away. Or have him neutered and keep him in a jar next to the bed.

What controls or eradicates invasive bees?

Environmental education, governmental programs, professional services, and scientific research are ways to control or eradicate invasive bees. Awareness of life cycles and natural histories help people -- from Brazil through the southern United States of America -- know how to avoid interactions with and presences of the aggressive, invasive, non-native killer bees in question. Professional experience is mandatory for any control measures -- which demand head-to-toe personal protective equipment -- when populations appear or linger whereas governmental programs and scientific research ensure that life cycles and natural histories will be comprehended and monitored in ways most friendly to Earth and Earthlings.
