How are John King Henry Morgan and Spiritualism connected?
John King was purportedly the father a materialized spirit who was given the name Katie King by Spiritualists in the late 19th century. She supposedly materialized in seances held by Florence Cook and later by Jennie and Nelson Holmes.
John King claimed to have been the spirit of buccaneer Henry Morgan.
Mary Ormond. Gave her up to his crew as a gift. Nobody knows her ultimate fate. Probably died from and STD or was thrown overboard after they were done with her.
Phillip Babb was of English descent. He landed on the Isles of Shoals in southern Maine around the mid 1600's. He was told to be a Constable of Peace, a magistrate, a Fish Master, and a butcher. Phillip had many children with wife Mary Baylie whom he married in 1661 in the Isles of Shoals. Tales of piracy surround this name. I do believe that the pirate was the son of Phillip and Mary Babb. I did find that Phillip and Mary bore a son named Phillip in 1666. This son may be the pirate Phillip Babb who has been linked to the alias "Pedro the Pirate" in the famous Ocean Born Mary legend. This seems to fit more historically correct if the date of birth were 1720 for Mary. Phillip (the pirate) christened the ocean born baby after his mother "Mary" who had died in 1674 when little Phillip was only 13 years of age. Also Phillip was said to have been Captain William Kidd's first mate. Kidd was falsely accused and hanged for piracy in 1701. After Kidd's death, Phillip is said to have turned to piracy which puts the time frame (early 1700's) more accurate for the first Phillip Babb who arrived in the mid 1600's on the coast of southern Maine to be the father of the pirate Phillip Babb who pillaged and plundered the eastern coast around the early 1700's. In the Ocean born Mary story they describe an old salt (Phillip) moving to a town in New Hampshire to live out his last years. This town in N.H. was not far from his original birthplace in southern Maine. This is my findings after reading and trying to piece together the history of Phillip Babb.
Regards,
Curtis Babb
Where do pirates get their treasure map?
Either the pirates made the map originally, or they took it from the person who did make it.

Why did pirates bury treasure?
After studying about pirates and their wondrous lives I realized that pirates didn't really bury their treasure. i mean when you really think about it it doesn't make sense for them too. those men plundered ships ad villages for goods and money that could bring them wealth right away .........saying you have something is one thing but actually being able to show people you have something is another. Moreover, the whole captain going ashore to bury the treasure is overrated. these men were mutinous boisterous thieves and killers they would NEVER put their trust in one man to bury their share of wealth somewhere on an island and they aren't there someone would end up coming back and steal it all anyway! In conclusion my dear friend: As soon as most pirates got their "booty" they went off to islands where they could spend it on prostitutes and liquor, pretty soon they got low on "treasure" and they were off again to plunder others to gain their wealth once again. Probably not. In the years since bucaneers once sailed the American waters, no buried treasure has ever been found. With all the metal detectors around these days, so one would have found something.
Was there a difference between a pirate and a privateer?
A privateer is the agent of a sovereign state. Usually he is commissioned to harass the shipping of some specific other country or countries, and he is allowed to keep what goods he can capture as his reward. A pirate is just a thief.
There is not any difference between a pirate and a privateer except pirates is not allowed to steal and a privateer is allowed to steal. A pirate belongs to a captain while a privateer belongs to the king or governer. For an example the King of England saids "Yall have to destroy the French Ships and then bring back the French's goods".
A privateer is like a hired pirate, who is free from all persecution when he steals
A pirate will face persecution for stealing

Words starting with z that have to do with pirates?
Richie Zisk played outfield for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team during the 1971-1976 seasons. Mike Zagurski was a pitcher on the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team during the 2013 season.
Pirates would wear whatever they could get their hands on. During the age of piracy, there were laws put in place limiting what clothes people could wear. These laws were created to differentiate the upper class and peasants. When pirates would raid boats some of the most sought off items were high class clothing. The pirates would then hold a small "auction" and the pirates would bid on the clothing. The proceeds would often go to the ships "maintenance" but would often end up in the pocket of the captain.
One of the reasons pirates are often pictured in "clashing" outfits is because they very rarely were able to buy a whole outfit in the "auction".
Pirates would usually only wear there "prizes" out about town because wearing them aboard the ships was very impractical.
Why do sailors let slack in the ropes used to fasten the boat to the pier?
Some slack in the ropes is needed to allow for changes in water level due to tides etc. otherwise the boat may end up hanging off the pier (not good for the pier, the rope or the boat) if the water level falls, or being pulled over and against the pier if the water level rises. The mooring ropes may still have to be adjusted several times each watch in areas with significant tidal ranges.
Why do you think the Barbary pirates felt free to demand tribute from the US?
They thought that the range of US merchant ships, which traded throughout the Mediterranean and which were generally easy prey, was greater than the effective range of the US Navy. At the time, that estimate was entirely correct. The US Navy had just sold off its only remaining warship in order to cover debts and was powerless to protect merchant ships. Extorting tribute from the US was, at the time, a risk-free proposition.
The attacks of the Barbary pirates spurred the US government to fund and build more warships (the "original six frigates") in order to better protect merchants and ultimately to end the threat of the pirates.
You cant really "avoid" a pirate, but you can have a chance to do that though. Pirates almost never work together unless they are from the same captain or crew. One of the many ways might be if you sail in a area that is highly guarded or sail with warships of you country.
What is the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 about?
It is obvious if you have seen the third one (Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End). In the last scene, not counting the "easter egg" at the end of the credits, shows the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow turning the map. He finds the location on the Fountain of Youth. Captain Barbossa also says something about it. So it will most likely be about Jack and Barbossa finding the Fountain of Youth. Perhaps it will be a race, perhaps they will join forces. But there's going to have to be an antagonist, so unless they get new characters, it will probably be a race. FYI: It is supposed to come out 10 May 2010. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Turner (Kiera Knightly) will probably not be returing for more.
