How do you loosen the tensioner on a 1996 Plymouth Voyager?
Most newer cars and trucks have a single serpentine belt on their engine. This belt transfers power, through pulleys, from the engines crankshaft to other accessories or pumps mounted on the engine. On many cars and trucks the serpentine belt will drive the water pump, the radiator cooling fan, the power steering pump, the generator or alternator, the air conditioning compressor and possibly even a supercharger or other auxiliary component. The belt must have the correct amount of tension to effectively drive all the components but not so much tension that the belt is in danger of breaking. The belt tensioner is responsible for generating the correct amount of tension. If your belt tensioner fails you will lose the benefits of many of the options. On many vehicles the water pump will stop turning but the engine will continue to run. This could lead to catastrophic failure of the engine. Symptoms of a bad serpentine belt tensioner: 1. Loose Belt
2. Squeaking belt
3. Whirring noise from the front of the engine.
If your vehicle is displaying any of these symptoms you may need a new belt tensioner. Replacing a fan belt tensioner is usually an easy project. The factor that can make it difficult is how your engine is mounted. On front drive cars where the engine is mounted transversely it can be difficult to access the belt tensioner.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1999 grand voyager?
You must remove the serpentine belt first. A tensioner tool makes that easiest. Drain the coolant out, if it is not old it can be used again. Pull the pulley off the pump, use a screwdriver between the bolts to keep the pulley from moving. Loosen all of them first. then Take off the pulley. Remove the bolts, I think there are six not evenly divided out. Only the front part of the pump gets changed and the housing stays on the engine. Clean all surfaces. Use some gasket sealer (blue Form-a-Gasket) in the depression in the pump going around the outside of the pump. evenly tighten the bolts on the new pump. Re-assemble, add coolant, put back on serpentine belt. Done.

What are the wire connections for a radio of 97 Plymouth Voyager?
dude, if you are putting in a new deck just by a wiring harness from a parts store, audio video store, radio shack or even walmart. do not go through and try to clip the wires and wire it up yourself- wierd stuff will happen. Lights will stay on when they shouldn't, turn the turn signal and it turns off the radio etc. I will run between 12 and 15 bucks. Worth the money.

Hey Randy==It is probably the gears in the trans and tnat is expensive. GoodluckJoe I am no mechanic but I experienced something similar with my '97. As I was pulling from a stop something made a bang up front and I lost all drive. Pushing the accelerator made an ugly grinding sound and the car did not move. Turned out to be a broken front axle which was relatively cheap and easy to have fixed. Good Luck.

Where is the water pump located on a 1997 Plymouth Voyager 3.0L?
right side of engine under all that stuff you see and while you are there might as well change the timimg belt. approx. 6 hrs by a pro
--- Well, I'm no pro so it took me longer than 6 hours. A couple good things to note though. You will need to make a special tool out of some angle iron in order to hold the harmonic balancer in place while removing the main crankshaft bolt. The balancer is cast so don't pry against the center ridge; it will break.
The water pump lives behind the timing covers (3 parts if I remember). I heavily recommend replacing the timing belt since it has to come off anyway. While removing the belt and the water pump, try not to accidentally bump the cam shafts. With the preasure from the valve springs, they are spring loaded to turn to one side or the other. Once the camshafts have been moved, it is possible to set them back to center but not very easy.
When replacing the timing belt, as always, it has to sit perfect on the teeth of all three gears(2 cams & 1 crank).
One problem I had after the repair was complete was it kept throwing serpentine belts. I found the power steering pump was mounted and tigntened to the block before the bracket. The bracket bolts should be tightened first then the block bolts.

How do you replace the front disc brake pads on a '94 Plymouth Grand Voyager?
Replacing pads on the 94 is pretty simple. First loosen lug nuts on one wheel. Jack van up on side you loosened lugs on Finish removing lug nuts and wheel Put jack stand under vehicle in case jack falls.
Now, Remove the brake caliper by loosing the two nuts on the back side of the caliper. Mine were 1/2" head. Get somethign to set the caliper on to take tension off the hose and Slip the caliper off. Sometimes you have to tap it with hammer if rotor is worn in grooves. There is a spring clip you can undo just above where caliper sits ti helo make pads more free. Remove front brake pad by slipping in out forwards. I then usually remove the rotor which just pulls off to get to back pad becasue its hard to get off with rotor on. Rotor on this vehicle isn't part of studs jsut tap it in back to get it off. Slide back pad out forward. Take C clamp and push caliper piston back into cylinder. Put back pad on Put on rotot Put on front pad Clip spring back down Slide on caliper and put screws back in. Put wheel on and repeat for other side.
