I am having the same problem with my 2005. I have been discontecting the battery to turn the car off, but now I can not get it to pass inspection because the catylist and evaporation sensors will not read ready.

Using the lug wrench you crank it down from a nut located under a flap of carpet in the cargo area.

No. In fact, the wires from the rear if connected to the front will fix a 250 problem!

Normally it means the alternator is defective.

intake short push rod, exhaust long push rod. put short push rod on rocker closes to intake manifold.

The only thing you need to reset is the clock and radio station presets.

I just CAREFULLY slid a medium flat screwdriver under it. Not sure if it it the right way but worked fine for me on all 4 doors.

I had to replace both front wheel baring on mine. Pontiac issued a quisi-recall...they extended the warranty on them for 80k miles. Mine went at 85k and th edealer was willing to only charge me 50%....what a nice guy!

I have a 2004 and mine is in the back of the glove box. There should be a small door in the back of it.

Trouble code P1336 means: CKP System Variation Not Learned

It should take 4.5 quarts with filter change and 4 quarts WITHOUT a filter change. If all else fails, check the owners manual under "capacities." I have 2 Azteks and both take 4.5 quarts with filter change.

1. Disconect battery. Drain coolant below level of waterpump at a min.

2. With 3/8 " drive breaker bar or ratchet move tensioner to loosen belt (enough to be out of your way but do not remove if not replacing.)

3. Remove metric bolts holding pulley to waterpump and remove.

4. Remove metric bolts holding water pump assembly and remove it.

5. Clean ALL old gasket off engine side of waterpump housing.

6. Install new waterpump with gasket with weep hole down & or arrow up.

7. Reverse steps 4-1, GM parts advised me to use new bolts for pump.

You CAN just add a little at a time until the AC runs without cycling on and off, but don't add too much or you can destroy the seals of the compressor. That process is not recommended, especially since gauges are relatively inexpensive. To accurately charge the system, yes a meter is required.

To change the heater core on a Pontiac Aztek, locate the heater core on the firewall, passenger side of the vehicle. Remove bolts on the firewall and the clamps on the hoses. Take out the old heater core and replace with new. Tighten bolts and hose clamps. Then check to make sure the radiator is full of antifreeze.

"service vehicle soon" commonly known as a "check engine light" indicates that the car's computer has detected something out of the ordinary. Because this computer monitors all of the variables related to engine function it's impossible to say without a scan tool. You can go to a mechanic and pay him hundreds of dollars to plug your car into a small handheld computer and read the error codes, or you can take it to an auto parts store and borrow their tool to do it yourself. Advance Auto and Autozone usually have them, not sure about other parts stores.

Until that is done it's hard to say. When the codes are read, copy them down, or get a printout, that will give you clues to make an educated guess at what the problem is.

Unfortunately error codes can be a sign of engine trouble, bad gas, or sometimes they're simply the result of the little car gremlins getting bored. I recently drove my Aztec with an "Emissions controll error, evap circuit malfunction" error for about 6 weeks, resetting it a couple times a week, but never keeping it off for more than a day. Then about a week ago it went out on its own and hasn't come back...

After scanning, reset or clear the codes and see if it stays off, or if the same codes reoccur. It may have been a one time, or short term problem.

**- The answer that was given is related to another indicator called "Service ENGINE Soon". I believe the question was specifically asked about the Service VEHICLE Soon".

For Pontiac these are 2 different indicators and as you might have guessed the Engine light has to do with drive train components, fuel system, exhaust sensors etc. The Vehicle indicator has more to do with body components such as light bulbs, braking systems, traction control etc.

I would agree with the original answer that the best thing to do is call around to the parts stores such as Autozone and see if they do free code scans and get the diagnosis. Then you can decide if you want to tackle it yourself or take it to a shop with specific details about what has to be fixed.

The Aztek has been known to have screwy gas gauges. Mine "floats" from E to F and sometimes shows the actual level. I've heard it's a bad sending unit in the tank causing the problem. If your gauge just lies there, it's probably that the sending unit is done.

The fuse you need to change is in the fuse box under the hood. It is in position number 32 and it is a 20 Amp fuse (yellow).

I did find out about it on my 2001 Aztek Manual

Follow these Steps. (see if it works for yours)

# Turn ingnition switch to on position fro about 5 secs #* while off # Turn ingnition switch to off position # Press brake pedal 5 times leaving the last press hold for about 2 secs # Turn ignition switch on # Check that Oil Change Light is OFF Hope this will help you

fuze box under the hood left passenger side. 10amp fuse sits to the far left of the box between a relay and a 20amp cig lighter fuze...

Above is the bolt sequence O= the bolt location and the number is the bolt pattern you have to follow.

1. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 60 N·m (44 lb ft),

2. Using the J 45059 (torque angle tool), torque the cylinder head bolts in sequence, an additional 95 degrees.

You can buy the torque angle to from Autozone for around 12.99

****Important****

The bolts are torque to yield so it is very important that you buy new bolts the set costs around 33.99

a head light problem should always start with the fuse and then the bulbs. if the lights still are not coming on make sure they are getting the proper voltage from the battery. (if the vehicle is running than you are ok on this one) if you are getting good voltage than your light switch could be to blame. hope this could help.
