Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 1995 Grand Prix GTP?

This info is for the 3.4l DOHC motor. The coolant temp sensor is in a hard place to reach; it is on the bottom of the lower intake manifold below the throttle body, you may be able to reach it by removing the exhaust crossover pipe otherwise you will need to have to remove the upper plenum all the way down to the lower intake manifold, (you will need some gaskets and a torque wrench-so I would have this done when you have your timing belt changed. If you have the 3.4l DOHC motor have the oil pump drive "O-ring" replaced when you have the timing belt done, because it will eventually leak. (use the brown one).

Why would a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am have a security system malfunction in it that would make it create a code to not let it start?

After you try to start it and it doesn't start leave the key in the on position and you will see the security light is blinking. It will continue to blink for 10 minutes and then stay on solid for 30 seconds. Once it has stayed on for 30 seconds it will go off, this is when you can turn the key off and start it. Mine usually starts then but sometimes you have to go through the process again. Hope this helps!

answer

Try this, if you take it to the dealer it will cost you $480.00 or more. I did this last night 8/4/06 and it worked. It's called ignition relearn security code. I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT. It started to act up during the initial start up about 2 weeks ago, then yesterday morning, got in the car and it failed to start. It tried, but it sounds like it was cut off of fuel and therefore no start. That's your security anti theft mode that kicked in. I have lot's to tell you, but read the instructions below and it will fix your problem. Take note: if this fails after a few attempts of this process, then the key tumbler ignition might be bad, not that your key is bad, but the security recognition is failing, therefore a dealer item will face you for this repair!

Step 1: Get in the car and put the key in the ignition. Try to start the vehicle (note:it will not start) Leave the key in the on position and get out of the car. (note: make sure you leave a door window down just in case it locks) Wait 10 minutes.

Step2: Get back in the car and try to start the car 4 or 5 times. (note: it will not start, this is a reset process) Now turn the car key to the off position and do not remove the car key!!! Get out of the car and wait 10 minutes.

Step 3: Get back in the car, note: you might see something different, your security light blinking on your radio, this is a good sign! now turn the key to start the car. It should start up. Turn off, take key out and put it back in and try to start the car again. It should start again, if it does, your successful!!!!

The resevour is in the supercharger snout. Oil access is through an Allen plug on the front side of the snout. Oil level should be maintained to the bottom of the plug threads.
