What ancient methods were used to predict the future?
Basicly, man has been searching for a means to "lift the veil" or assuage the fear of the future since he first became self aware. There is no knowing all of the ways they used.
However, here are a few:
Cards have been used by many cultures for centuries.
The movement of the sun and stars has been used since before Christ.
Scying (seeing) in water, oil, fire, smoke, dark mirrors, and other reflective surfaces has been practiced for centuries.
Reading the lines in a person's hands, and the bumps on their heads has been used to predict the personality and future of that person for centuries.
Weather and astrological phenomenon, the casting of bones and/or stones have been interpreted by some for longer than we have had written language.
And the intestines of sacrificial animals have been examined for hints about the future. Answer # 2 I-Ching originated around 2000 BC predicts the forces of action and changes and all the phenomena of the universe. The universe controlled by a natural operation of forces can be predited by wisdom symbolocally embodied in the theory of I-Ching
Can Astrology predict the future?
According to astrologers, the future can be predicted by astrology. But as with all things good, there is a catch here too. Although astrologers claim to be able to predict the future, and there has been plenty of evidence over the years to support their claims, they are very clear to point that astrology can only predict major events and trends in the future, and not specific details. So, astrology may be able to predict whether you are going to have a good few years in the near future or go through a rough time, but it may not be able to predict the reasons for it.
Astrologers also say that astrological predictions are all made, keeping in mind, that things will run their natural course. But due to variables such as the Free Will of people, such events may not always come to pass in their natural course and may be affected by the choices that any person makes at any point in their life. These choices, which are made out of your Free Will, can alter predictions about the future, positively as well as negatively. Thus, although the cosmic bodies and their positions are a very accurate and reliable source of knowing the future, what is also true is that no one is bound by their stars, and all of us make choices which affect our future and the astrological predictions about it.
Apart from its ability to predict future trends, astrology can also be used to create the future. For example, a friend, a professional musician, was about to audition for a gig. I advised him to show up early, before a void-of-course Moon kicked in (nothing comes of things started during a void-of-course Moon). He did as suggested, leaving all the other candidates to audition while the Moon was void-of-course. As luck would have it, the band leader chose someone else for the job -- but that choice was made while the Moon was void-of-course (yes, we took that into account). As it turned out, the person picked had a scheduling conflict and couldn't perform with the band, so my friend received an "unexpected message" a few days later (shown by his own natal chart) offering him the job instead.
What is the Hinduism book of worship?
Although, there are many holdy books like the Vedas, Upanishads etc, the Srimad Bhagwatam and Bhagwad Gita are worshipped by most people. The reason being that these two books can be easily understood by laymen and also, they contain the essence of the Vedas.
How can fortune tellers predict future events?
They make stuff up. If theyre phonies but true ones use pshcic ability and varius methods of divinity to cast whats coming They may use dreams, crystals, mathematics or intuitive feelings about people or events Real predictors will always tell you the bad ahead as well as the good
How common are predictive dreams?
More common than you might think. Almost everyone at some point in their life will have one. Most often it is something mundane, like seeing an old friend or having their favourite meal for dinner. Those don't usually make a big impression on the person so they don't really remember. It is the "big" or unusual predictive dreams that make an impression. If you dream of a car accident and then are in one, or dream of a flood and the river over flows its banks, you tend to notice. If you think you are experiencing precognitive dreams, my best suggestion is to start a dream journal. When you wake up write down the dreams in as much detail as possible, and date them. Then if something similar happens, record that in as much detail as possible with the date it happened. One or two close incidences might be of interest, but several very accurate dreams which prove out could well mean you are experiencing precognitive dreams. Then you will need to decide what, if anything you intend to do with them.
you cannot predict the future unless you are God and it is humanly un-logical to be able to do so :( as much as we wish we could do that we can't.
AnswerIf you can manipulate time and cosmic energy then you can tell the future. Some belief systems claim that their spiritual masters were very proficient at this. It is believed that Nostradamus was such a master.Future events in relation to the weather can be accurately predicted by competent individuals in the profession.
AnswerIT is impossible to see into the future, as the future is uncertain.not unless you have dayshavou
It is impossible to predict one's future, BUT what one can rely on is "history". This approach can be utilized from the "macro" to "micro" review. --- Patterned behaviors speak loud and clear. --- For example: People radiate "their histories" by the manner in which that person chooses to lead their life -- if the individual is warm, friendly, and loving then that dynamic speaks loudly and will provide information on "certain" types of "anticipated" behaviors in future situations. Just as individuals that are angry, hostile, anti-social, lack a sense of humor, etc., allows us to "anticipate" that a relationship could possibly be "less fullfilling and possible prone to violence" in the future. -- The old saying "proof is in the pudding" is wise, as well, a true statement. How an individual "negotiates" their own environment in this world, speaks loud and clear. It is impossible to determine the "exact" future or "what" one may encounter in our lives, BUT given the "dynamics" of the individuals "involved" in many instances, will allow us the information to make some type of "learned" decisons about the choices we make and the impact upon our "future".
According to Mark's gospel, Jesus predicted the apocalypse, or violent end of the world, to occur during the lifetime of many of those present. Mark 13:2 first has Jesus predict the destruction of the Temple, "And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou those great buildings? There shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." According to Mark (13:24-26), Jesus went on later to tell the disciples that they would personally experience social turmoil and persecution, there would be earthquakes and "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken and then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory." He concluded by saying, "Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done." An oblique reference to the Book of Daniel implies that the predicted end of times would occur within about four years of the destruction of the Temple (thus 74 CE).
Can a groundhog really predict the weather?
Punxsutawney is the city in Pennsylvania where the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, resides.
Build up of has been used to try to predict earthquakes?
Scientists have attempted to predict earthquakes by monitoring the build-up of stress along fault lines, changes in groundwater levels, animal behavior, and variations in electromagnetic fields. However, predicting earthquakes with high accuracy remains a significant challenge due to the complexity of geophysical processes involved. Current focus is on improving early warning systems rather than precise prediction.
Climate and weather are different things that are predicted differently due to the timescale. Weather prediction focuses on dynamics of the atmosphere down to very small scales - even turbulent eddies in the air. Climate prediction doesn't incorporate that because it averages out - this type of prediction is much more concerned with the radiation balance of the planet, for example, as well as feedbacks that accumulate over time within the system, which would never be a concern to weather forecasters.
If we knew the answer to this question, we`d all be rich.
I knew someone would write this :) so it can be done !
I predicted this by analysing what I know about human nature and passed experience of people discussing this topic. This was the most common thing said during that discussion so quite likely to be an (or the) anwer.
Maybe the answer is, by analysing past events we can predict what is more likely to happen.
Some things are easy, like "Tomorrow the sun will rise".
Some things are harder, "04, 34, 18, 23, 43, 13 are this weeks winning Lotto numbers"
Why does the free electron theory fail to predict the semiconducting properties of materials?
Drawbacks of Classical free electron theory:
1. It is macroscopic theory
2. This theory cannot explain the electron conductivity of
semiconductors and insulators.
3. Ferromagnetism cannot be explained by this theory.
4. This theory cannot explain the Photoelectric effect, Compton
effect and the Black Body radiation.
5. The calculated value of specific heat of metals is not matching
with the experimental value.
6. At low temperature, Lorentz number is not a constant. But by
12
classical theory it is a constant.
7. Dual nature cannot be explained.
8. Atomic fine spectra cannot be explained.
9. Classical theory states that all the free electrons will absorb
energy, but quantum theory states that only few electrons will
absorb energy
What will happen by the end of the century?
What will happen over the next 50 years, or what human life will be like in 50 years. I guess it all depends on whether one is a pessimist or an optimist. Whether one is an environmentalist, or otherwise. Any predictions will be as much fantasy as having any element of truth.
Computers will continue to gain in power.
In the near future, there will be huge bandwidth problems as technology and goals outstretch the infrastructure that we have in place. For example, people will desire blu-ray quality downloads, and the infrastructure to distribute them will begin to be put in place. However, there will be a lag with the ISPs to provide the access. However, these immediate problems will be resolved over the next 5 decades, perhaps to be replaced by new desires or needs for more computer resources.
Dedicated "Entertainment Rooms" will likely become more popular, with people choosing ungodly large wall sized TVs, or perhaps even surround TV's.
There will be some rebounds between store-bought food vs good old fashioned home cooking, home canning. And perhaps this will be a symbol of large segments of the population looking back towards the "old ways".
There will be a gradual shift to more efficient automobiles, and to Electric Automobiles. But, it will be a slow and tough process. It will come in leaps and bounds and will also include some brownouts, power rate hikes, electricity commodity trading, and construction of new Nuclear Power Plants.
Despite better computers and increased safety standards, there will be increased pressure to keep old nuke plants active and pushing for peak production. The power crunches may lead to at least one major event at a nuclear power plant.
The first Fusion Power Plant will probably come online. But we have yet to see the full ramifications of this technology.
There will be a reawakening in Space Exploration. The first permanent Lunar settlement will be in place. The first Mars and Venus settlements will be in the planning stages.
There will be a better understanding of Gravity and the "fabric of space", but there will not be any FTL or Warp Technology coming out of it in the near future. Perhaps a "Generation Ship" to the Centauri Star Cluster will be in the planning with a goal of arrival in a few centuries.
There will be more technology to extend life, including cultured organs. However, it will be impossible to fully prevent the deterioration of the mind in conjunction with he rest of the body.
Economic Crises will continue to rock the world. There will be repercussions of advancing automation vs "Jobs" and "Job Satisfaction". We will reach a stage where, say half the world population "doesn't need to work". And the economic consequences of this will not be ripples, but more like a tidal wave through our society.
The Global Human Population Growth will reach a crisis. Especially with respect to differences between the "developed world" and the "developing world", distinctions that will continue for many decades to come. Economic repercussions due to the automation as well as continued population growth will hit the developing nations heavily.
The Woolly Mammoth will be cloned. But, there will continue to be pressure of the imminent extinction of species. As the human population continues to grow, there will be continued battles between conservationists, poachers, and just needs for more housing and arable land.
Can you compare the strength and frequency method for predicting earthquakes?
The Strength and Frequency Method only predicts how often an earthquake of a particular magnitude will occur. The Gap Hypothesis only predicts where another earthquake is most likely to occur along a fault line. Neither method will predict where the next earthquake will occur in the world, or predict an earthquake happening in a random spot, or predict both the location and strength of an earthquake.
How is next winter weather predicted?
Next winter weather is predicted using a combination of historical climate data, computer models that simulate atmospheric conditions, and meteorological expertise. Scientists look at trends in sea surface temperatures, atmospheric pressure patterns, and other factors to make seasonal weather forecasts for the upcoming winter. These predictions can give an indication of whether a region is likely to experience colder temperatures, above-average snowfall, or other specific weather conditions.
How do they predict Hurricane movement?
The movement of hurricanes is predicted using computerized weather movement, which use present conditions to predict how the wind in and around a hurricane will behave.
Difference between classification and prediction?
The decision tree is a classification model, applied to existing data. If you apply it to new data, for which the class is unknown, you also get a prediction of the class. The assumption is that the new data comes from the similar distribution as the data you used to build your decision tree. In many cases this is a correct assumption and that is why you can use the decision tree for building a predictive model.
What will happen with technology in the future?
There is no possible way to predict this as we cannot know what we do not know that might be learned in the future and could be found useful to make things that satisfy our needs and wants. All major technical advances have depended on discoveries of unanticipatable and previously unknown natural phenomena, then inventing ways to make useful things based on such natural phenomena.
When does David Cook say what's more unpredictable than being predictable?
During the Top 6 elimination of Season 7. When Carly Smithson is eliminated.
Questions about future events, like who will win the Super Bowl or when the world will end can only be answered with predictions. Often, those predictions are based on evidence and facts, but sometimes they are someone's opinion. The Predictions category is a place where questions about future events are gathered together to be answered.
predicting outcomes are just like drawing conlusions and inferring something.,,
everyone has to predict something about the future just like i predicted this was what it meant!♥
answer=guessing what i will mean, what it will be about and more.,,etc
What were the three witches' second predictions?
The second predictions of the three witches dealt with threats against Macbeth [c. 1014-August 15, 1057]. The first predictions of Act 1 Scene 3 dealt with Macbeth's seeming destiny. The witches predicted that Macbeth would be promoted to Thane of Cawdor and then to King of Scotland. Their intention was to lure him down the evil road that uncontrolled, raging, greedy ambition would lead him. In Act 4 Scene 1, the witches intended to keep Macbeth on his evil course by a false sense of security about his reign. They led him to believe that he only needed to beware of Macduff. They also made him think that his kingship was bulletproof to men born of women. They specified that his downfall only would happen with the movement of Birnam Wood to Dunsinane Castle. But they gave him no explanations. They didn't link any of the predictions together. The information was given to him in an eerily supernatural setting deep within a cavern. So it was difficult for Macbeth to think of concrete, practical explanations for such incredulous events.
What prediction does Basil Hallward make about the three of them?
That they will suffer for their talents.
