Does a medical doctor hold a Ph.D?

No. Medical doctors in the USA (e.g. physicians) receive the professional training degree of MD or OD (Osteopathic Doctor). In contrast, a PhD is a higher academic degree based on philosophy, or research. A PhD does not prescribe medicine.

A medical doctor may have a PhD, especially those that perform medical research, but most do not. If an individual has both an MD and a PhD they would list them in that order after their name (PhD listed last as it is the highest degree).

A medical doctor holds a Doctor of Medicine diploma. Both Ph.D. and MD are doctorate degrees, so they're equal.

What is Miss Mrs and Mr in Arabic?

I asked my friend this same question. Unfortunately, I do not know how it is written. But, you don't say Mr or Mrs. You say "Father of (eldest son or daughter)." If not, just use their first name if they have no children.

To say Mr. you would say Asseyyid. Pronounced ah-say-yid. For Mrs. you would say Asseyyidda. Pronounced ah-say-yeeda. :-) Hope this helps.

To introduce a man as Mr. (so and so) you would say "this is Mr."

= ismaHuu lii an uqaddim lakum asseyyid...(so and so)

To introduce a woman as Mrs. (so and so) you would say "this is Mrs."

=all of the above up until the asseyyidda.. (so and so)

Miss as far as I know, doesn't really take status in Arabic. I may be wrong about this put when it comes to a peer, you would announce them casually by name.

How would you use the word Ms in addressing more than one woman?

There is no plural, because "Ms" is a made-up abbreviation invented by feminists who unfortunately did not think through the issue. The correct plural for Miss is Misses; and for Mrs. (which is short for "mistress") is Mesdames, or Mmes., which is the plural of Madame. By the same token, two gentlemen are addressed as Messrs. for Messieurs, plural of Monsieur. So two women would be saluted as Mmes. Jones and Smith. Otherwise, you'll Ms the boat.

Another answer:

The above suggests that there are some abbreviations that were not 'made up', which is an interesting idea. Where did they come from then, I wonder?

All three forms of address commonly used for women (Miss, Mrs, and Ms) derive from the word 'mistress'. Traditionally, 'Miss' is used for an unmarried woman and 'Mrs' for a married woman. Many women do not see why they should have to proclaim their marital status to the world when men do not have to do so, so they have adopted the form Ms to remove that distinction. This does not make them feminists (not that there is anything wrong with being such), nor have they failed to 'think through the issue'. There is no 'issue'.

If you wish to write to two women who use the form Ms, write 'Dear Ms Smith and Ms Jones'. If you wish to refer to them in speaking, refer to them as 'Ms Smith and Ms Jones'. Certainly there is no plural of Ms, any more than there is a plural of Mrs (as the previous contributor proved by having to resort to a different language to find one).
