Take it to a dealer. It cannot be accomplished by the owner using any of the "tricks" associated with programing other remotes. All applicable remotes must be either programed or re-programed together, other wise an active remote will no longer work when a new one is programed. Locksmith with proper programer can also program the remotes. Expect to pay $25-$75 dependent upon location, and customer friendly service.

YOu must program it as a Toshiba DVD using the AUX button on remote control and the codes 0695 (which worked for me) or 0503, or 1045.
Then seperately set up the volume by changing the volume control lock according to directions. FYI... Comcast could not help at all!

Additionally, based on my own experience a couple of minutes ago, I was able to program the Comcast remote for the Toshiba TV/DVD combo (Tosh model MD19N1, fyi) by using the AUX button & treating the TV/DVD combo as a DVD, as the answer above suggested. But the code that worked for me was the Toshiba DVD code listed in the Comcast remote pamphlet (specifically, code #20695), rather than the codes stated above. But the answer, above, to use the AUX button & treat the TV/DVD combo as a DVD is what set me on the road to being able to program the remote. Also, the answer suggested above about programming the volume for the remote, by just following the Comcast remote instructions for "unlocking" the volume was exactly right. Also, fyi, none of this programming of the Comcast remote messed up TV/DVD operation by the original remote I have for the TV/DVD. I just didn't want to have to be juggling two remotes all the time.

Many garage door opener manufacturers, in order to make their product SAFER, have added a circuit in the motor, which measures the amount and changes in the operating electrical current. The purpose of this is to detect anything blocking the movement of the door [e.g., a child, a person, a pet, a vehicle, etc.] Even "dragging" bearings/bushing INSIDE the motor can cause this.
Upon detection, the door is supposed to stop, and, sometimes, even return to its previous stopped position [usually full open]. ANYTHING, which causes the door motor to "work harder," can trick that detector and cause the situation you describe.
If there is nothing blocking the door, I have found that "dragging" rollers, or bearings/bushings inside the motor,can cause the problem. If this is the cause in your case, then you probably can correct it.
First, carefully CLEAN all accumulated dust, dirt, lint, cobwebs, grease, etc from the tracks, the rollers, and the roller axles. Then carefully lubricate all roller bearings/axles with JUST 2 or 3 DROPS each of any clean oil. Do NOT overlubricate as this just encourages more accumulation of debris.
Another possibility is that some, or all, of the rollers and/or their bearings/bushings are worn out, causing the drag, and then it will be necessary to replace them. These parts are usually available at your local hardware stores, or home improvement warehouses like Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.
IF your problem is caused by "drag," then proper cleaning and lubrication will fix the problem. Also, drag can be caused by misalignment of any of the tracks, and or bending damage to the door or tracks. Good luck 1 j3h
