If you are traveling in a vehicle with young passengers, they need to be in carseats if they are young and all children should be in a seatbelt.
If you are driving a bus, you should make sure they have a caregiver traveling with them.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning
Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat BeltWarning Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
NO, the SRS light is on because there is a problem with the air bags. Take it to a professional for repair. This is NOT a DIY repair. Working with the SRS is dangerous.
1.0 To to ebay, buy the factory service manual. I just bought one for a 2008 Honda Civic, it was $5.00.
2.0 Read the detailed instructions in this manual and follow them.
3.0 Done.
They were subjected to a LOT of force in the crash, and did their job. The high level of force may result in them failing the NEXT time they are needed.
This can vary depending on if seat belt use is required by law but rule of thumb is:
If the car came equipped with the shoulder belt it must be used.
The light come on when the system detects a problem and sets a trouble code. You should have it diagnosed by a trained technician. The airbag system is not for do it yourselfers.
The light is on because there is a problem with the air bag system. When the air bag light is on the system is not working and will not deploy in the event of an accident. When the air bag light is on the system has set a code(s) in the computer A scanning device can retrieve the code(s). The code(s) will give you a clue where the problem is. Many auto parts stores will read the code(s) from your vehicles computer for zip if you purchase the parts necessary to repair the vehicle from them.
you have a false signal coming from the sensor harnes.
It means there is an issue with your airbag. You should have it diagnosed and repaired.
If the air bag light is coming on then you have a problem with the SRS. Seek professional help.
On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident.
Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool.
SRS ( supplement restraint system)if your light is on while driving, it means there is a malfunction in the system somewhere, which you should have checked
The light comes on because the airbag computer has detected a malfunction. You need to have the system checked for codes with a scan tool. You then need to have the cause repaired by a trained technician. The airbag system is not a safe place for do it you selfers.
Either the bags have been deployed or there is a problem with the computer/sensorzperiodz
If it's the computer/sensor the bags won't deploy. get this checked out!
If the air bag light comes on and stays on it is telling you there is a problem with the system and the air bag(s) is disabled. Until the problem is fixed the light will remain on.
I disagree there is a reset for the airbag module, as I will explain, however, it is true that the system has detected some kind of fault. It is our experience, that (some times)even if you fix the problem the light may not turn off. For example, if the error somehow simulated a crash sequence the error code will be reflected in the control module and the light will not clear. You can however, with the right type of technology, clear even hard codes written to the module. We do this every day. See reset airbag module link
You need to go to a dealership or service station to have them look at this. If your air bag light is staying off after you've started your car (should illuminate for just a second or two), you need to have the system checked. Check the fuse chart in your manual. At least for '94 Dodge Caravan, if air bag light is on and the horn doesn't work, the problem is the clockspring. If the air bag light stays on and the rear window wiper doesn't work, it's fuse #13. Check this out before spending $$ at dealership.
Most of the time is caused by a bad clockspring or its connector for the air bag has come undone. It can be caused by a bad air bag cotrol unit, but this usually doesnt happen unless the bags have been deployed. Not always though. Hope this helps. It usually indicates a problem with the airbag system. It is NOT recommended to service the system. Have a professional do it.
When the clock spring breaks the air bag light stays on,the horn and cruse control don't work. This is a recall item on many models repaired at no cost to the owner.
depends on many things
Added: the driver will receive a ticket.
If a person is caught speeding, a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt in Hinds County, MS will be around $230. If they aren't speeding, it may just be $115 or so.
If you have had to lower the rear seat in order to make more room and then found that the seat belt was locked when you tried to raise the seat then try this;
Trace the seat belt back to the point that it is anchored in with a bolt and undo the bolt (using a ratchet is the easiest way due to not having much space) then raise the seat back to the uprght locked position and the seat belt should free itself.
Good luck!
Once you do this and before you let it down again, go to the dealer and get a replacement seat belt stop pin and replace the missing one. If yo look close you will see the hole where the missing pin used to be.
you dont have to be moving at all, you just have to have the key on and get hit in the front with enough force to make the air bags deploy
the rh and lh side modules are in the seat back. unclip the seat back cover starting at the bottom. there are 3 clips on each side. then pull down the cover It could be in a number of places. Underneath the center console. Beneath the FM Stereo. Also check under the carpeting under the driver's and passenger's seats.
"If you want to replace it, bad idea, that will be ALOT more costly. I had my original SRS module sent in for a reset. I just googled a company called www.myairbags.com and they reset mine for $55 and shipped it back to me free of charge, I hooked it up and it works like brand new! and I saved about $560.
*Disconnect battery if you are working with the Airbag Module, if its powered and it feels movement, It could trigger the Airbags to blow."
Remove the glove compartment with just a few screws its pretty simple. Once you do that you will see the passenger airbag because its pretty big. You will look up into the glove compartment and find four screws. Take them out unplug two wires and your done. Just make sure the battery cable is unpluged before you begin. Its a simple job I did it myself and it only took 45 minutes to take out and replace. I just cant find the airbag module, if you know how email me at blaken_002@yahoo.com
Yes, there is a module under the center console. If it is bad the seat belts will not release. hope this helps Shimmy.
The seat belts require a power feed from that module to "unlock".
