The space needle was build in the 1940's for the world fair. The theme of the fair was the future. The person that build the needle wanted to make some thing that would make people of space. So he named it the space needle.

1. Take HIGHWAY 2 (Queen Elizabeth II Highway) SOUTH to HIGHWAY 201 (Stoney Trail) WEST at EXIT 271.
2. Take HIGHWAY 201 (Stoney Trail) around Calgary to TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY 1 WEST to BANFF.
3. Take TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY 1 WEST to HIGHWAY 11 to MISSION and the U.S.A. BORDER at EXIT 92 via HIGHWAY 5 (just continue straight on HIGHWAY 5). HIGHWAY 5 will be just past Kelowna.
4. Turn left off the exit ramp onto HIGHWAY 11 SOUTH towards SUMAS, U.S.A. Take HIGHWAY 11 SOUTH to the border at Huntingdon, B.C., Canada and Sumas, Washington, U.S.A.
5. Cross at the border into Sumas, WASHINGTON, U.S.A. Once you are past the border, continue straight on WA-9 SOUTH.
6. Take WA-9 SOUTH to WA-546. Continue STRAIGHT on WA-546 WEST towards LYNDEN.
7. Take WA-546 WEST to WA-539 SOUTH towards BELLINGHAM in Lynden. Turn right.
8. Take WA-539 SOUTH to I-5 SOUTH towards SEATTLE in Bellingham.
9. Take I-5 SOUTH to Seattle.

THE Space Needle or if you like being high in the air you could go to the Columbia tower that's is also in Seattle and is way way bigger than the space needle or take a visit to the e m p which is all about music and Seattle's history like Jimi Hendrix the band heart or Kurt Kobane from NIRVANA or pearl jam

ALSO, Mt. St. Helens was a good place to. You can look at it and on a higher area theirs a telescope where you can see all the animals that are down there (mostly elk, but still AMAZING). I also went to Mt. Rainier. I'm 14 years old and i had a blast! My family and two other families went together. There was snow everywhere! Where we live there is no snow...maybe once every 2 or 3 years, but this was pure snow. You where allowed to walk as far up the mountain or basically anywhere! They also have an indoor area kinda like a souvenir shop and an eating place. If you do go here keep your eyes open for Chipmunks and other small animals in the building because we saw two Chipmunks! As seen from the ground, the Space Needle does not rotate. The floor of the fine dining restaurant does.

The top of the Space Needle (some times call the "Eye of the Needle") is building with 2 floors open to the public. The top floor is the observation deck. There you can step off the elevators into a lobby and walk around. You can also step outside and walk around the entire circle. Nothing on this level rotates.

Below the observation deck is the restaurant. The middle portion of this floor, where the kitchen is, does not rotate. The seating area for the diners is right next to the windows and maybe 10 feet wide. Just floor (with chairs, tables and some room dividers) is rotating, at one revolution per hour. Think of it as a washer spinning around a bolt. The windows do not rotate.

Originally the window sills were level. People would put cameras, purses, etc there and then rotate away from them. The sills were replaced with a steep slant so items could not be left there.
