Bobby McFerrin has a four-octave range according to his official biographical information, and a vast array of vocal techniques. He's perhaps somewhat modest though: his range is actually closer to 5 octaves, with at least F1-E♭6 recorded in live performances. Basically, he is a natural baritone with the ability to sing as a bass, soprano or entire jazz band! His "Bach Improvisation" alone covers slightly more than 4 octaves in one performance.

Justin was in a singing competition just for fun. He put videos of the competition on youtube for his friends and family because they couldn't watch the competition. He started getting millions of hits and he was found by his manager, Scooter. Scooter flew Justin out to Atlanta and by chance he met Usher there but wasn't able to sing for him. When Usher watched the videos he flew Justin back out to Atlanta where he sang for Usher. Usher wanted to sign him but a week later so did Justin Timberlake. They got into a bidding war over it and Usher won. So now Justin is signed to Usher.

I think that singing wasn't something that was invented as in " oooh look a new song " I think one day someone just decided to sing. Not an invention. If someone is singing professionally and looks at you it could simply be reaching out the audience and nothing else. If this is a person you know that sings well and looks at you, then it's possible they really do care for you. Entertainers are suppose to make their audience feel personalized to them (that's why you see bands ... especially the lead singer go around the edge of the stage either slapping people's hands or holding their hands.)
