Type of Stress: Acute Stress

Type of Stress can also be defined as an acute stress or chronic stress (Long Term).Acute stress is the reaction to an immediate threat, commonly known as the fight or flight response. The threat can be any situation that is experienced, even subconsciously or falsely, real or imaginary as a danger. The person experienced, witnessed, or was confronted with an event or events that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of self or others. The person's response involved intense fear, helplessness, or horror. Common acute stressors include but not limited to following:

  • Immediate noise (which can trigger a stress response even during sleep)
  • Some people feel acute stress in excessive crowding or in rush.
  • Some people feel acute stress in Isolation
  • Some people feel acute stress during hunger
  • Immediate danger it can be real or only product of mind may produce acute stress
  • Infection
  • High technology effects like playing video games, frequently ringing mobile phones, high noise
  • Imagining a threat or remembering a dangerous event
  • Death or serious injury, sexual abuse, child abuse

Generally speaking in most events of acute stress, ones threat passed, the reaction becomes deactivated and level of stress hormones return to normal. This condition is called the relaxation reactions. The disturbance lasts for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 4 weeks but in some cases threat has Passed but stress will remain. It can be happen in case of child abuse, some social adverse conditions, sexual abuse, death of loved one, betrayal from loved one and it convert in chronic stress….. Type of Stress: Chronic Stress

In some cases events of acute stress passed, threats were gone but stress will remain then it is expose to more complications and become chronic stress which generate more disturbance in body and mind. In prehistoric times, the physical changes in response to stress were an essential adaptation for meeting natural threats. Even in the modern world, the stress response can be an asset for raising levels of performance during critical events such as a sports activity, an important meeting, or in situations of actual danger or crisis.

If stress becomes persistent and low-level, however, all parts of the body's stress apparatus (the brain, heart, lungs, vessels, and muscles) become chronically over- or under-activated. Such chronic stress may produce physical or psychological damage over time. Acute stress can also be harmful in certain situations, particularly in individuals with preexisting heart conditions.

Chronic stress also may result in other physical ailments such as tension headaches, muscle spasms, gastrointestinal problems, and elevated blood pressure. It can also lead to fatigue, depression, and a sense of hopelessness.

The role of psychological chronic stress seems as obvious. The brain structures involved in stress can affect the production of key hormones in the body, suppress the body's immune system, and activate the autonomic nervous. These are the same biological changes that may occur from physical stresses on the body-the body may not differentiate between physical and psychological stress. The net effects of these changes on the body are to lower our internal resistance to pain, thus further encouraging the chronic pain cycle.

Many sources of stress feed into the chronic stress cycle. First off, as you would expect, stress itself is stressful. stress sensations are perceived as undesirable and are at very least annoying. Chronic stress creates tension, both physical and emotional. Physical tension may show itself as muscle tension or affect the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, or immune systems. Emotional tension may reveal itself as anger, frustration, worry, depression, or frustration. Both physical and emotional tension, initially set in motion by stress, worsen stress. Thus the vicious cycle of chronic stress begins- leads to tension and tension leads to more chronic stress.

Common chronic stressors include:

  • On-going highly pressured work in modern time and competitive world
  • Long-term relationship problems with spouse or relatives
  • Loneliness is major cause of chronic stress.
  • Persistent financial worries is major cause of chronic stress
  • Depression of depressive thoughts along with anxiety real or imaginary are lead to painful chronic stress
  • One cycle of depression and chronic stress start, chronic stress lead to more depression and depression lead to more stress and worsen the situation
  • Inability to control emotion is major source of chronic stress

What is the treatment for a tibial stress fracture?

Rest, ice, compression, elevation.

Stress fractures usually take about 6 weeks to heal.

During this time, do not run, jump, or exert excess pressure on the tibia. The only good physical activity to do is swimming, which do not put pressure on the tibia.

If pain worsens, quit swimming, and use crutches to relieve the pressure.

Use ice to ease the pain and inflammation. Pain reliever may be taken.

Compress the ice on the tibia to help the pain or swelling which may occur.

Elevating your leg, will help blood flow to your leg, which will ultimately speed the healing of your bone.

Be sure to visit your physician or physical therapist right away.

Are their physical or emotional stress involved with photography?

Finding enough work to pay the bills and meeting deadlines come immediately to mind. Demanding clients who think they know more than you do are another. Physically, you spend a lot of time up on ladders, down on your belly, schlepping equipment (unless you can afford an assistant), setting up lighting, and sometimes fording streams, climbing mountains and slapping insects. It's a great career and a lot of fun, but it definitely has its stresses.

Like Terrys father in Stop the Sun many war veterans suffer from Vietnam syndrome also known as post-traumatic stress disorder Research this disorder What are its symptoms How is it treated?

Originally PTS surfaced from the Vietnam War...then it got politically tangled up with automobile accidents, heart attack victims, earth quake victims, 9/11 victims, fist fights, riots, airplane crashes, WWII veterans, and people just having a bad day at work all of sudden were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress disorder, bottom line: it's being abused. The original roots of PTS was from men being drafted against their will; fighting a war in Vietnam against their will; returning home and fighting their own families and friends against their will; being fired or not hired because they were Vietnam Veterans...this COMBINED with the war experience itself created "stress". Since it occurred after their return from Vietnam it was labeled "post". Since war was traumatic, it was labeled "Traumatic". Possibly (since most war vets from the Civil War and World Wars have passed on, and no one knows for sure)...possibly this is why "many" Vietnam "combat" veterans just want to live in the mountains or some place away from society and be left alone.

How do hassles affect feelings of stress and physical health?

The hassles experienced in modern day life affect the feelings of stress and physical health by prompting the brain to release certain hormones and chemicals that increase worrying in the brain .

Can your boyfriend that you see every day leaving cause your hormones to act up and make you start your period?

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Often if you are stressed, it can make your period late, or you may even miss it completely. So, if you started your period around when your boyfriend left, it is probably just a coincidence, as you will only start when your body is ready. However, being stressed will affect your health in other ways, such as increased heart rate, chest pains, headaches, fatigue and sleep problems.
