They don't have timing chains

Hi,

My hunch, would be in the gas tank. I had a 1993, Toyota Celica and it was located in the gas tank. On mine, I took out the back seat and in about the middle of the space, there was a cover/panel with about 6 screws holding it down; take off panel and you will see the fuel pump cover plate with about 6 more screws holding it to the gas tank...Please be careful...make no sparks...gasoline is HIGHLY flammable...be sure to take disconnect the battery connection BEFORE working on the fuel system.

Oil pumps rarely fail----the problem of low oil pressure readings almost always turns out to be the sending unit (usually mounted very close to the oil filter) when oil pressure is truly a problem the tell tail sign will be a lot of lifter type ticking noises----that is a sign to shut off the engine as fast as possible

The fuel pump on a 92 Toyota Celica GT is located inside the fuel tank. It pulls fuel from inside the tank and pumps it along the frame to the engine.

Turn the steering wheel hard in the same direction the wheels are pointing while the key in on then try to move the selector. This can happen if there is tension on the steering while as the vehicle was put into park.

you dont put transmission fluid in a manual transmission. you need gear oil, and it should be done by a transmission shop

make sure engine is cool!!!!!! top bolt will cross thread!!!!!

unbolt the bolt on the top of the alternator.

push the alternator towards the back of the car to take the tension off the belt.

unbolt the bolt underneath the alternator. remove alternator.

reverse instructions for reassembly.

pull the drive line, pop the caps off the u-joint, and drive the u-joint out of the drive-line and install the new one.

If memory serves me correctly the speedometer is driven by a gear which is on the transmission, looking down from the top of the engine (below the airbox) should be a 2 wire sensor which is screwed into the transmission case.

The old refrigerant will need to be vacuumed out and disposed of correctly, that is why a qualified tech should be doing it.

After that you replace all the O rings with the new ones and recharge the system.

I cant be sure, so you should consult a service manual for your car, but I don't believe that the timing chain would need to be replaced in a car that new. If it was making noises, then maybe. A timing chain shouldn't go out before 150k. If it actually has a timing belt then once again check your manual, but i believe its in the 90-100k range.

First disconnect your negative side of your battery and don't do any work on the column for two minutes cause the airbag has a backup capacitor and could go off. Then straighten out your steering wheel. On the backside of the steering wheel there is two panels that pop right off. You then have two torx screws on each side that hold the airbag in. Once you get them off then you will have one bolt in the middle of the steering wheel. The auto parts store say you have to have a steering wheel puller but you dont need it. Hit the each side of the steering wheel a couple of times and it should pull right off.

Alternatively, if you haven't got an airbag (no 1992 Celi I've had has had one), you need to undo one screw in the back of the steering wheel, on the bottom half, before you can remove the front "horn" panel. Once you've done that, a suitable sized socket will remove the nut that attaches the wheel to the column.

Once that's removed, you might have to give the wheel a sharp smack to loosen it from the column splines. On reinstallation, make sure you tighten the nut up nice 'n' tight.

Several things may be causing this. The simplest is a tire out of balance. The car may also have something wrong in the drivetrain or suspension, such as a drive shaft out of balance, bad u joints, ball joints, or tie rods. A mechanic will be able to pinpoint it with a test drive.

No it does not The GT has an engine called the 5SFE, which is the same engine as the ST except it is bored and stroked, so it puits out more displacement and power.

realign the head lights, check battery termninals

Flushing sometimes frees up mineral deposits that then clog up your heater core. My mechanic told me to never flush a Toyota as the heater core was low in the engine. That is, only drain and fill when doing a coolant change to prevent dislodging the deposits.

The pcv valve should be located on top of the valve cover. It plugs in, and should pull out with some gentle coaxing.

Assuming it is not burned out bulbs, check the brake pedal switch. You will have to put your head down there, apply the brakes pedal to locate it, manually operate it with your finger. Try unplugging it and using a jumper wire to complete the circuit. Or go to any auto parts store and buy a new replacement.

Yes, in my expertise I believe it does work on most cars but, it won't do much if your transmission itself is not in good shape if it is then there's no harm in trying cause on most cars I've tried it on it works just fine. Once, I have used it on an 01' Toyota Celica but, 00' will do just the same.

There is no problem with using Dextron 3 in your tranny. It will not harm it. If your tranny is old, you could always find a shifter/tranny/console, etc. at a salvage yard and go manual. It's more fun, better mileage and you would avoid the inevitable issues that come with having an older car. Both my late eighties Celicas are manual and I never have issues with them. I did have bent shift forks from a previous (apparently shifting challenged owner) I noticed on a long trip when I couldn't get it to stay in 5th gear. Also it had a fluid leak (a slow drip) that may have contributed to the problem as when the fluid level drops, you start losing gears from 5th on down. (according to a mechanic). Anyway, as time goes by, keeping up a manual isn't a pain like an automatic. Those trannys are bullet-proof.

Directly above the battery, right side of the engine compartment. It's inside the black air-filter-box.

At least it's like that on my Celica.

Where is the coolant dripping from?

- if it's dripping from the overflow reservoir (jug that holds acts as a reservoir for antifreeze): means there's too much coolant in the reservoir; it should only be filled to the 'full' or 'max' line - not 100% full

- if it's leaking out of a small hole in the water pump, it means the pump seal is gone and the pump needs to be replaced. This is a very common problem in older Celica's

- if it leaking from a hose, tighten it slightly (or replace if cracked)

- if it's leaking from the radiator, get the radiater repaired/replaced: NOTE: there is a drain valve on the bottom of the radiator that you should be able to finger-tighten if it's not completely shut off. Make sure it's snuggly tightenen BY HAND (if you use a tool and tighten it too hard , it'll break)

Overall, the car shouldn't leak antifreeze: Jap motors are more-tightly designed that North Am. cars and if you've got a leak, something is loose, broken or worn out.

Note that if it's just water (have a taste on your fingertip, but don't go overboard!), coming from the rear of the engine compartment, it could just be condensing from the air conditioner. Happens particulalry in hot weather.

Which is perfectly fine and nothing to worry about.
