What is the seventh commandment?
There were times in the Old Testament when God commanded the people to kill, such as when they had to put someone to death for breaking certain laws of God, and also when they had to kill the pagan inhabitants of Caanan. But they were not to kill at times that they were not commanded by God to do so. Unjust killing, such as killing someone out of hatred or envy, without a specific command from God to do so, was forbidden. In the New Testament, Jesus taught that we were no longer to kill even our enemies, but we are told to LOVE our enemies now. Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Jesus said this.) Even in the Old Testament there were examples where a Jew was to love his/her enemy, such as the great respect David showed to King Saul, who was persecuting him, but since Saul was King, David showed him respect because it was God's commandment to respect those in authority. These different examples may seem contradictory on the surface, but when you take the Bible as a whole, you understand that God does command some things that are for one circumstance, but not for other circumstances, and since Jesus came, we are now not to kill anyone at all.

How many of the Ten Commandments can be found in the laws of the US?
A:
There is no historical connection between US law and the Ten Commandments, and none of the Ten Commandments is really found in the laws of the United States. The constitutional requirement for separation of state and religion preclude inclusion of the first three commandments, which require believers to worship God only, or the fourth, which requires religious observance of the Sabbath. The fifth commandment tells us to honour our parents, which is a commandment more about family relations than law.
The next four commandments are concerned with prohibiting murder, adultery, theft and false witness, but only as general statements. The tenth commandment can be defined as dealing with protecting property rights because it tells us not to covet the property of our neighbour, but it does not tell us how to sue a person just for thinking these things.
United States law is based on the principles of British common law, law of tort and legislation passed by Congress and at all times subject to change by the Congress - it is not based on the Ten Commandments.

What is the significance of the four gospels?
Although written decades after the events they portray, the four New Testament gospels are the only record that we have of the life and mission of Jesus. If in fact, they were written independently of each other, they could be regarded as substantial proof that the events they portray really did happen. However, scholars say that Matthew and Luke were really based on Mark's Gospel, and that John was, in turn, inspired by Luke's Gospel, with some material taken direct from Mark. They say that none of the gospels was really written by eyewitnesses to the life of Jesus.

Where Colonel John Chivington led a force of mostly volunteer militiamen which slaughtered hundreds of indians, mostly women and children, and mutilated the bodies taking limbs and organs as trophies which they displayed at the Denver Opera House to a cheering crowd.
The Sand Creek Massacre (also known as the Chivington Massacre, the Battle of Sand Creek or the Massacre of Cheyenne Indians) was an incident in the Indian Wars of the United States that occurred on November 29, 1864, when a 700-man force of Colorado Territory militia attacked and destroyed a village of friendly Cheyenne and Arapaho encamped in southeastern Colorado Territory, killing and torturing an estimated 70-163 Indians, about two-thirds of them were women and children.
Surprisingly, Chivington was a Methodist minister. And, to make matters worse he used artillery on the village.
The location has been designated a National Historic Site and is now the National Park Service.
