The case can be opened by unscrewing the four screws and then using a thin and broad blade popping the catches at each corner. The battery kit I used came with a plastic tool for levering the case although any thin broad tool would do.

the owners manual for my 1990 2.0l lists the circuits powerd by fuse 12(8 amp white)as

1-rear dome light

2-auto antenna-radio

3-relay window lift terminal 86

4-central locking system

5-seat adjustment memory

6-seat adjustment relay terminal 86

it also includes the power feed to the radio but this is shown as fuse 19 in the haynes manual.

on the side of the dashboard drivers side. use a screw driver to lift the plastic cover.

Whilst not a routine service item a number of people report failure around 140k plus miles. I'd suggest changing it at alternate cambelt changes, ie every 120,000 miles

On the left side there is a spring steel clip. Push a fine screwdriver downwards between the light and the bumper at the same time pulling up on the left side. The steel clip will free itself allowing the unit to be lifted to the left and out - thus freeing the right hand locking lugs. Installation in the reverse - locate the right hand side locking lugs and push down on the left hand side to re-engage the spring steel clip. The bulbs are 12v 3w T-10 Wedge type.

If you mean the plastic cover, it's so simple!.. Just get a good gripe on it, and pull hard!! Very hard!! No screws, no anything.. Then .. Pull out the small black hose, if you want to have access to the air filter.. turn it over, and unscrew the small screws around it..

You open the petrol tank cover in volks wagon polo trendy by pressing the button to release the fuel cap.

The size of the axle nut for a Volkswagen Polo has changed throughout the years. Older models used a 30mm nut while newer models use a 36 mm nut.

New VW Polo for EU market is made in Bratislava, Slovakia.

You need to remove 4 bolts on the bottom end of the panel using a splinned tool of the correct size. You can also use an Allen key.

Then using a flat screw driver to lift gently on either side of the panel, unclip the plastic fastners. They tend to break off, so be prepared to buy replacement ones from a main dealer. There are three fastners either side, which run from top most of the panel to the bottom.

Then using a plastic spatular or a flat screw driver, lift the plastic cover on the door handle starting from the front end, i.e. the end with the electric window winding buttons. Just gently lift, nothing will break. Just be careful not to scratch the panel if you are using a metal tool.

Once the panel if off you can remove two bolts behind the door handle. Agaon you need an Allen key or an appropriate size splinned plug.

To finally remove the panel you then need to lift from the bottom and gently push it out of the top grove. Inside will be several electric cables which can easily be disconnected. Just be careful not to strecth them and break them off.

What type of Polo are you using?

Check the following:

- Leaks - Radiator/ hose / Junction valves / water pump

- Check water pump if you see water leaking coming from the engine block then your water pump is busted.

- Try to squeeze the main hose after running for 15mins if hose becomes hard because of the pressure build up then the return portion of the radiator is clogged. Ask a mechanical to clean radiator.

- Check if your water on the reservoir is over flowing or has too much water. pump out water by squeezing the hose like an ambu bag. you need to do that because water cannot flow, Polo has a close circuit cooling system. Pressure prevents it from cooling down.

- If all of this above are ok then 2nd to the last is check water pump, it has a temp regulator that possibly needs to be changed or if you live in a tropical or fair weathered country then you can ask mechanic to take it out.

- Still if everything fails, check color of oil if it still oil then good but when it turns out white then your engine needs a top overhaul. what happened? gasket has worn out and water mixes with oil making it white or curd like.

- You might also want to check cylinder head alignment.

VW say it should be changed every 60,000mls

It has a cam belt.

Inside a black casing behind the driver side glove box, you need to pull the casing off and all the fuses are in there.

ahhhh the evil fuse box took me 2 days to find it anyways to where it is
on the driver side open the door look where the dashboard and door meet you will see there is a place where you can stick a screw driver and it looks as if it is part of the dashboard but its the cover for the fuse box this is for the left side driver cars as for the right side driver cars i don't know you have to look on both side and have fun fixing your car

VW Polo Classic 1999.

Starts OK but cuts out almost immediately. No history or warning of problem - just arose out of the blue one evening.

Turned that the fuse controlling the brake-lights had blown. Replaced fuse; car starts no problem.
