How do you change a battery in a Volkswagen Polo?
Have a look in the Polo Owners manual, it has instructions in there, that are more or less accurate. You need to follow them. The first few steps are easy enough but the third last one - prising the metal retainer off that holds the wire connections to the top of the battery - is the tricky bastard. Go somewhere where you can't be heard, you may need to swear. I did it in Golders Green (a bit posh for me) and there were numerous complaints about my profanity! You have to pull the one nearest the front of the car towards you, while at the same time as trying to wiggle it upwards. I used a hammer and chisel to hack a bit of the battery underneath the clip away which seemed to help. Persevere. Try getting a screwdriver in there to prise it. Swear at it a bit more. You can't damage the battery anyway. Once you've got one side off the other side comes off pretty easily. I've got a picture of the appropriate page of the manual, I could email.
When do you change the timing chain in 2003 polo 1.2?
When it starts to get noisey or car dificult to start. You need to remove the o/s engine mounting, remove timing chain cover, remove sump, you need to remove crankshaft sensor, fit crankshaft locking pin in its place. remove rear camshaft cover plates, insert locking plates. You need to change chain/ tensioner and guides. not a job for in experienced person as engine support brace and special tools needed
There is a paddle shaped connecting rod going from the door lock barrel to the locking mechanism that opens/locks the door. These seem to break after a while, you can get replacement part cheaply enough (€10 from my VW dealer) but it is tricky to reassemble the mechanism as there is a spring in it (I still havent managed to fix mine!)

What will the car do if the timing belt or chain needs replaced on a 92 Toyota Camry?
The 1992 Toyota Camry uses timing belts. If it is an interference engine, it will probably run just fine up to the instant the timing belt breaks, at which point the valves, head, pistons and possibly even the engine block can be destroyed. But Gates, a timing belt manufacturer, lists the 3.0L V6 and 2.2L 4-cylinder on 1992 to 1997 model Camrys as non-interference. So, if the timing belt breaks, the engine will no longer run and you'll need to be towed somewhere for a new belt. It is unlikely that the belt failure will cause further damage, so getting the maintenance done on time isn't nearly as important as with an interference engine. The recommended replacement interval for these belts is 60,000 miles under severe service, such as in a taxi or police car, where a lot of idling is involved. There is no replacement recommendation for normal service, which most drivers fall under for this particular maintenance item. For normal service, 90,000 miles is a suitable interval since the same belt is used on 1998 to 2001 2.2L engines with a replacement interval of 90,000 miles.

How do you change a radiator on VW Polo?
To change the radiator you first need to get access to it.
To gain access, you need to remove the front bumper. This means removing all screws on the bonnet sill, removing the screws from the front arches which connect the bumper to the body. and there is one screw under each of the indicators. once the bumper is removed, ensure the lid from the expansion tank has been taken off, so you can drain the radiator.
To drain the radiator, loosen the jubilee clip of the lower hose and gently remove, ensuring all coolant falls into a clean container. Once drained, remove the upper hose, and the fan. There are then 4 screws to take out which hold the radiator in place. Remove these and your radiator will be loose and ready to remove.

Replace battery on VW key fob?
This procedure works on the VW 'switchblade' style key fobs. These key fobs are rectangular with a button on one side. When the button is pressed, the metal key flips out into the straight position, similar to a switchblade.
To replace the battery:
1. Press the button to flip out the key.
2. Turn the key fob so the metal key stick out to the right and the channel that the key fits into is facing you. (The VW logo on the fob will be facing up)
3. Look closely inside the channel. It is split vertically. On the left hand side of the vertical split, it is also split horizontally.
4. Insert a flat head screwdriver into the vertical split and twist. They key fob will split along the vertical line separating the battery compartment (on the left) from the key (right).
5. The battery compartment (left) can now be pried open along its horizontal split.
6. The replacement battery is a 3 volt CR2032 lithium 'button cell' and is commonly available.
7. Replace the battery with the + side facing down.

Why does a 2000 Daewoo Lanos turn off when switching from park to drive?
To answer your question I must put this in two parts , Firstly if the idle is low and you shift from park to drive and the engine stalls this is due to the idle being too low. When you shift from park to drive the transmission puts extra load on the engine causing it to idle lower and thus can stall. Remedy to fix is to either screw up idle adjuster but most times it's because of built up carbon in the intake throttle body causing the accelerator flap inside to not fully close . This causes the throttle positioning switch mounted on the side of the throttle body to send the wrong signal back to the computer saying that the car is not at idling position when it is. Remedy to fix this is to spray in some Carby Clean into the throttle body and then some more while the car is running, all while holding revs up on motor so it will not stall ( use the whole can ). Now the second part is that you can have a bad wiring problem with either a broken wire or bad connector . When you put the car into Drive from the park position the engine will rock ( this is on all front wheel drive vehicles ) If you have a broken wire or bad connector some where between the motor and cars wiring loom by the engine moving it can open circuit any connection that controls engine running . Remedy to fix is to put the car into park and physically move and jiggle wiring in engine bay until symptoms occurs , then it's up to you to repair the fault.
Handbrake adjustment on VW Polo?
Step 1 - Remove the plastic trim around handbrake by pulling it up from the rear it will unclip.
Step 2 - There is a 10mm nut you can turn this to adjust the handbrake. A good idea is to park on a flat and then see if the car can be easily pushed with the handbrake released.
Step 3 Once the handbrake is adjusted to the correct amount replace the trim and firmly push down on it so it clips back into place.
If you find this method does not improve your hand brakes effectiveness you will need to get you rear calipers checked as they may be fualty.
