What is the engineering model of stress?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The engineering model of stress is based on the concept of a material experiencing an internal force per unit area. It describes how a material deforms under applied loads and how it resists these forces. This model is used in engineering to design structures and materials that can withstand various stresses without failing.

How a Conveyor System Works?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A conveyor system is a mechanical handling equipment used to move materials from one location to another. It operates through a belt, chain, or rollers that rotate to transport goods along a predetermined path. These systems are widely used in industries like manufacturing, logistics, and distribution to automate material handling processes and enhance efficiency.

How do you calculate length of conveyor belt?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To calculate the length of a conveyor belt, use the formula: 2 * π * r + (2 * r * cos(θ/2)), where r is the radius of the rollers and θ is the angle the belt makes around the rollers. Alternatively, you can measure the length by running a string around the conveyor path and measuring the string length.

What are industrial patterns used for?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Industrial patterns are used in manufacturing industries to streamline production processes, maintain quality consistency, and ensure efficient use of materials. These patterns are templates used to create molds or templates for casting or shaping various types of materials, such as metals, plastics, or ceramics. By using industrial patterns, manufacturers can produce large quantities of identical parts or products with precision and accuracy.

What is the specification of welding electrode E6013?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The E6013 welding electrode is a versatile, all-purpose electrode with a coating that provides smooth arc characteristics and good penetration. It is commonly used for general welding applications on mild steel and is known for producing clean and minimal spatter welds. The E6013 electrode can be used with both AC and DC welding machines.

What is buttering process in metal fabrication?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Buttering is the process of applying a layer of weld metal to a base material before performing the final weld. It helps to improve the bond between the base metal and the final weld metal, ensuring better strength, corrosion resistance, and overall quality of the weld joint. Buttering is commonly used in metal fabrication to prevent issues like cracking and to ensure a more uniform weld.

How does the global conveyor belt form?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The global conveyor belt is formed by a combination of surface and deep-ocean currents. It starts with cold, dense water sinking near the poles, which then flows along the ocean bottom towards the equator. This deep water eventually rises back to the surface in regions such as the North Atlantic, creating a continuous loop of circulation.

What possible linkages can the community and the school have?

How do you make 100 pearlite bainite martensite?

User Avatar

Asked by Hudsthomas

To make 100% pearlite, the steel should be slowly cooled, while bainite and martensite are achieved through rapid cooling. Each microstructure has different heat treatment processes that must be followed to form. A combination of these processes can be used to achieve a mix of pearlite, bainite, and martensite in varying percentages based on the cooling rate and temperature control during heat treatment.

What is a steam turbine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It is an engine.
A steam turbine is a heat engine that uses the expansion of steam passing through stationary nozzles and blades on a shaft to turn the shaft. The steam can move through the turbine axially (one end of shaft to the other end), radially (shaft to outer casing), or tangentially (around the outer edges of the turbine wheel). In an impulse turbine, the steam is expanded in nozzles and pushes the blades. In a reaction turbine the steam is expanded in the nozzles AND in the blades, the reaction of the expansion of the steam pushes away from the blades spinning the wheel in the process. The expansion of the steam is necessary to increase its velocity through the turbine.

What is the EN grade equivalent to A37 material?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

EN standards for materials are widely used in Europe and other regions. However, A37 is not a designation typically found in European standards like EN. A37 is more likely a designation from ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards.

In ASTM standards, A37 is not a specific material grade. It's possible that you might be referring to a different ASTM material grade, such as A36, which is a commonly used structural steel grade. A36 steel is often compared to EN 10025-2 S235JR or DIN St37-2 steel, which are equivalents in European standards.

If you could provide more context or clarify the specific material grade you're referring to, I'd be happy to assist you further in finding its equivalent in EN standards.

Definition of Stress and strain?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Strain*

A rubber band has a original length of 5cm and was pulled longer to 6cm. Thus 1cm difference and we divide difference in length with original length. = 1 divided by 5= 0.2

So in this case, Strain = 0.2 (Strain is a ratio and therefore no units.)

Stress*

Stress is the amount of pull and push force applied over a cross-sectional area and right angle to the action of the force. (The basic S.I. units of stress is N/m2) So, if you have a 20N force applied over an area of 10cm2 at right angle...

Stress = load divided by area

Stress = 20N divided by 0.01m (converting from cm to meter)

Stress = 2000N/m2

Or Stress = 2000Pa = 2kPa

Just remember that Strain* = lenght and Stress* = pressure.
