Front differential does not engage on your 1998 Chevy Z71?

There is a switch on the transfur case that sends power to the front differential 4x4 Actuator when you shift the 4x4 lever, need to check the switch with a test light to see if it has power going to it. If not then check fuse in fuse box for the 4x4, If it does have power going to it, then go to the front housing and check the Actuator with a test light to see if it has power going to it, if no power then problem is in the wireing from there back to the transfur case switch. If you do have power at the front, then replace the Actuator.

What is the proper procedure to set the timing on a small block Chevy?

assuming you have a non-electronic timed car, you set the idle speed first, then disconnect and plug the vaccuum line at the distributer (a golf tee or a pencil works OK), then find the timing mark behind the crank shaft pully and use chalk or white paint to make it visible from above, when above the engine behind the crank shaft pulley there should be a little gauge with numbers use the chalk to mark the correct timing setting. next connect an inductive timing light according to manufacturers instructions (hook it up to the battery and the #1 spark plug wire) then turn on the engine, if the two marks you made line up then your timing is fine, if not loosen the distributer nut and turn the distributer slightly until the marks line up, then retorque the distriburter nut shut off the engine disconnect the timing light and reattach the vaacuum hose. for electronic timing disconnect your negative battery cable, reattach and let it run for 2-5 minutes before driving

How do you fix OBDII code p0449 in a 2006 4-cylinder gmc canyon?

P0449 says that the PCM is not seeing the voltage potential it wants to see when the vent valve is off or commanded on. I would suspect it is the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Canister Vent Solenoid near or on top of the gas tank is bad. To make sure check the voltage at the pink wire. It should be around 12 volts. If it is low, it may be bad wiring or the PCM, but not likely. if you have 12 volts suspect the solenoid.

How do you remove the steel panel to change an outter door handle on a 1995 GMC Sierra pick up?

Same way as a 1996. The steel inner door liner needs to be removed. The trick is, that the window regulator runs inside the door, and has a track section on the steel liner, which is why the liner may seem impossible to remove. It is possible with a little wrangling of the assembly. Regardless, prepare yourself for BIG headaches if you don't change these handles regularly. These handles involve tons of patience nad small hands. Your hands will get scraped & cut.

Will a faulty throttle position sensor cause rough idle?

In all probability not. If you have a check engine light on then you will need to have it scanned for codes. If the code shows a component, such as the TPS, it DOES NOT mean that is defective. It only means the problem lies in that area. That is what you pay a technician to let you know. It is cheaper to know what is the problem, than to throw parts at the car.
