To check the timing, the tan/black stripe wire to the distributor needs to be unplugged. Use # 5 plug wire with the lower timing mark. The factory timing should be labeled on the air cleaner. It is probably 4 degBTDC but 6 to 8 degBTDC should make it run cooler and give it better gas mileage.

im pretty sure that is a problem that just needs to be replaced when it goes bad i dont believe it is a fixable problem, at least wasnt for me, be we could possibly have had different problems so try to fix it anyways

The oil pressure switch is located at the back of the engine next to the distributor. Looking at it from the front of truck it will be right of distributor. Normally it can be changed without removing the distributor.
