How long did it t ake to rebuild big ben?

Big Ben itself has never had to be rebuilt, it was constructed new in 1859 following the fire that destroyed the old Houses of Parliament in 1834. The new Houses of Parliament (known as the Palace of Westminster) took about 20 years to build.

Although the House of Commons was bombed during World War 2, Big Ben itself was never hit and survived the attack. It has never had to be reconstructed, just had odd bits of restoration work done on it over the decades.

By the way, the name 'Big Ben' refers to the great bell inside the clock tower, and not to the tower itself. This has been recently named The Elizabeth Tower in honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.

Why didn't Michael Crawford perform at the 25th anniversary celebration of phantom of the opera at the Royal Albert hall?

Could be a few reasons. First of all Michael is notorious for rehearsing everything to death! I think he must rehearse brushing his teeth! Since he was on stage every day in Wizard of Oz this didn't allow him to rehearse with the rest of the Phantom cast.

Secondly, he could only attend the Sun. performance for the same reason. But mostly I think it was because he was EXTREMELY emotional that night and having to literally sprint from the performance at the Palladium to do the show at RAH, I'm sure he felt like he wouldn't be "up" to giving his best for the audience. And it's tough to get him to do anything if he feels he can't give 100% or more!

He and Sir Lloyd Webber had agreed ahead of time that he would appear at the last "finale" but not perform. If you notice on the video Sierra Bogess "escorts" him off stage before the other Phantoms begin singing. That was obviously pre-arranged.

Who designed the Advent Prodigy Tower Speakers?

The advent prodigy speaker was designed by Bob Steiert, The advent sheilded prodigy tower speaker was designed by Bob Zurek, and the advent prodigy tower II speaker was designed by Mike Dzurisin (sorry if I hacked your name Mike) The first prodigy tower was a cabinet only change of the prodigy so the drivers, crossover, and acoustic volume remained the same(I believe the cabinet redesign to the tower form factor was either done by Bob Steiert or Jack Powell). I hope this helps but I can't imagine why anyone would really care who designed them. I hope you are still enjoying them.

Did the Stone Roses support Simple Minds at Wembley stadium in 1989?

They were supported by Texas with Sharleen Spiteri who absolutely killed it with a version of the GnR 'Sweet Child of Mine'.

Simple Minds were as good as they have always been live although for a 'support act' Texas were more than making the numbers up. Support bands also included Gun, and The Silencers

i saw them at roundhay park that year and they were supported by an emotional fish and all about eve..... love stone roses and simple minds and would have been great to have seen them together but i don't think it happened

Which is the royal box in the Royal Albert Hall?

== == The royal Box is the seating area reserverd for the Queen of England and her guests.

When the Queen is not attending a performance (and has no guests listed), then Royal box tickets can be sold to the general public.

Ticket prices are expensive because the location of the Royal Box is supposedly the best view and best acoustic position in the hall - although this is debatable depending on the kind of performance featured

Can one take a train from London to Cornwall?

Yes but it is expensive, inconvenient and does not stop in that many cities in the area. You are better off renting a car. Book as far ahead as you can, you will find it a lot cheaper, I don't know what the answerer above means, but most trains stop at all the stations in Cornwall, unless it is an express, then it is main stations only.

What are blacklists?

In the "McCarthy era" (1950 ~ 1954) any actor who was suspected of being a communist sympathizer was put "black listed" and found it almost impossible to find work. Homosexuals were black listed and removed from government jobs. We get the same thing today in a more subtle way when a person like an actor can't find work because of their political views, but that is more an industry thing than an official government policy. Certain movie studios or TV networks will only use people who have the same political view as the owners. You can rest assured that Rush Limbaugh will probably not end up as the News Anchor on CBS and Al Franken will most likely not host a show on Fox.
