Acura Legend

I have been searching everywhere for just the bushings. It's my understanding from everyone that I have spoke with, even the dealership states you have to buy the whole control arm. Just my luck coming out of pocket $242.

The manufacturer of the 1989 Acura Legend recommends 10W-30 motor oil. A heavier motor oil can be used in extreme climates.

I have the same prblem with mine right now, I've cleaned out the carbon build up on the piston heads and the valves, I've replaced the head gasket and all other gaskets, and i replaced my spark plugs. Still i have this knocking sound at the top front of the engine. Now i took out the head and had my machine shop do a valve job on it and they say there were no major problems. So I'm hopeing it wasent somthing as simple as my timing but I'll find out when i put it togather tomorrow.

the relay is mounted under the driver side dash panel just below the ac vent. it is a square black box with one bolt above it .look just above your hood release handle. it has two separate wires that plugs into the bottom of relay

On the transmission

you need the machine that tells you the code. i think its called OBDII scanner. you plug it in, turn our ignition to ON, let the machine do its thing and come to the main screen, then you hit delete codes and it'll ask you if you're sure you want to blah blah blah. then you hit ok several times and ta-da! auto zone won't do it for you because they have been sued before, but you can loan the tool out (don't tell them you're erasing codes) for diagnostic purposes, go and erase them and return it. hope that helps.

i have a 1995 LS 4dr...just had to go through the mondo task of replacing head gaskets...you may not have this problem yet,,but what you do have is a temp sensor that is caught in an air bubble...in my case my head gasket was seeping and pushing hot gasses into the water jacket and pushing coolant into my overflow tank...the space made after the motor cools down is an air bubble travleing through your coolant system... goto www.acura-legend.com and do a thread search...LOTS of relevant info there....good luck....

when they run good, there is no match for the $$$....Acura Legend, owning one and affording one are two different things...

the relay box is right

above the lever to pop your hood under the dash you will have to take the dash down under the steerin wheel and its a black box about 4 inches wide by 4 in it has 2 plugs comin off it

This is actually quite a difficult question to answer online as you have not specified any details so I will just list the most common problems with cars in general not starting... 1) if your going from driving stick to automatic, the biggest issue is that we sometimes forget that automatics have to be put in park... make sure the car is in park when you start the car.

2) battery dead? 3) alternator dead?

Drain the radiator. Remove the drive belt, and the crankshaft sprocket cover. Unbolt the pump, replace it, then re-install the cover and belt.

It means the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions system.

you can use 10w30 or 10w40 either is fine

its the dimmer relay

If it is anything like my 1990 Generation I Legend, then there is a spring that attachs to the corner marker light and then to the body. It can be accessed from right behind the headlight, from inside the hood. Find the metal loop end of the spring and pull it towards you to dislodge it. Then the marker light which is held in by the sping and a plastic tab should come right out with gentle pulling.

Fuel pump strainer goes on the end of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank.

Under the hood, right behind each headlight is the bulb. Quarter turn to the left releases it from the lens. Depress the small tab on the side of the bulb holder while gently pulling on bulb. This will release the bulb.

The diagnostic port is located on the passenger side of the car. It is at the dash under the carpet.

The sensor senses when the engine is pinging or called spark knock. It then sends a signal to the engine control module. The engine control module then temporarily retards the timing until the pinging stops.
