Why would you want disadvantages? If your not thinking positively towards a goal, then your doing it wrong, artists or anyone who's passionate about what they do, do not see any thing as a disadvantage, they see it as the price for doing what they love. Do Army Rangers blouse their Greens?

Yes, Army Rangers (as well as Special Forces, 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne) wear bloused boots with their greens.

Most of them have one set of Corcoran jump boots they keep spitshined for wear with their greens.

The problem with blousing your greens is, if you ever get reassigned from one of those units to a leg unit, you have to buy new dress green pants because there's a black stripe running around both legs.

But you do not have to be in any Ranger Bat or Spec Ops unit to bluose your greens. If you have airborne qualification wings you can blouse your green if your commandor permits the bloused greens

In general you won't see a soldier in a non-airborne unit blouse his greens except for a parade or something--it's really hard to march in low quarters, so blousing greens is common for honor guards and the like. In the non-airborne parts of the Army you will hear one term over and over: the airborne mafia. We legs don't really care for paratroopers, and we're not going to have their bloused greens in our units if we can help it.

Is Ranger and Marines the same?

An Army Ranger is considered by many Rangers as only someone serving in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Others (including the Army) insist that an Army Ranger is a graduate of the Army Ranger School and authorized to wear the Ranger Patch, which includes thousands or Army, Marines, and men from friendly governments who have completed the course.

Rangers are a small and elite force dedicated to light Infantry operations and tactics. Potential use is of a specialized nature with limited manpower, limited sustainability and no heavy weapons support. They are what might have once been called expendable, spoilers, a delaying force or a shoot and scoot outfit. As individuals, they cannot and should not be compared with the 200,000 man Marine Corps. Marines can seize, occupy and defend anything, anywhere and anytime until relieved, They were never intended to be Nation Builders. That toolbox remains in the Army's domain. They were intended to be shock troops and first responders to an International crisis.

The answer is a simple No. They have different missions and different tools.

What is the standard infantry rifle for Saudi Arabian army?

They apparently used the Heckler and Kock G-3 for many years and still retain many of them, but these are being replaced by the more modern Steyr AUG. Update 25/04/2009 The Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) as stated, have long used the 7.62mm Heckler & Koch G3A3, which was licensed produced in Saudi Arabia between the mid-1970s and 1980s. Certain elite formations of the RSLF however use different equipment, all of 5.56mm calibre. The RSLF Royal Guard Regiment for instance use the Heckler & Koch HK33, whilst the RSLF Special Forces have long utilised the M16A1. The RSLF Airborne Brigade is issued with the Steyr AUG. Likewise, the Steyr AUG is on issue to the Saudi Arabian National Guard, replacing the FN FAL. Most of Saudi's Ministry of Interior Special Security Forces also use the AUG. Long-term plans to totaly replace the G3A3 with the Steyr AUG seem to have been abandoned however, with more modern rifles such as the HK G36, Beretta ARX160 and Colt Canada C3A3 all under evaluation.

Can you get a 4 year army ranger contract or is it very rare?

When you get a "Ranger contract", it's the same as any other enlistment, except that you're given the opportunity to go to.... well, it used to be called RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Programme)... forget what they call it now.

If you successfully complete RIP (or whatever it's called nowadays), then you can be assigned to a Ranger Battalion.

Once you're in a subordinate unit of the 75th Ranger Regiment, you'll be expected to successfully complete the actual Ranger School before you can be promoted to Sergeant or higher.

Also, the RIP contract is only available for occupations which are actual found in the line units of the Rangers... Infantry, Medics, Communications, etc. So don't enlist as a mechanic, admin clerk, etc. expecting you'll be able to get a RIP contract with it.
