Whats the difference between an A4 and an S4 Audi?
The main differences between the Audi A4 and the Audi S4 are visual. The S4 is considered more of a luxury car, and will have a different exhaust and different ground effects.
Why is the light in Audi A 4 Glove Box is not working?
The answer can be a couple reasons...First easy answer is that the bulb is blown. If your car is a B6/B7 (2003-2008) then the bulb is a simple 194 style bulb that can be accessed by simply popping the light assy out of the top of the glove box with a small pocket screwdriver, unplugging it and checking the bulb. The second answer could be that the switch that turns the light on is not functioning, or is disconnected. to view the switch, pop off the passenger side dash panel on the far right side of the dashboard facing the door. Open the passenger front door, and on the side of the dash there is a panel that has a small slot in the bottom that you can put the end of the vehicle's key into or use a small pocket screwdriver. Once the panel is off, open and close the glove box door.you should be able to look inside and see the hinge of the door and a black cylinder shaped like a small shock absorber (about 2"-3" long) that is expanding and contracting as the glove box door is opened and closed. If this is not moving as the door is operated, then the switch inside will not turn the light on. There is supposed to be a small black pin that connects it to the glove box door. additionally, there should be an electrical connector plugged into the small black shock, if this is disconnected, then the light will not operate. Uhhhh...no.
#1. Run the car till it gets to operating temperature (or warms up at all).
#2. Check radiator hoses.
a. top hose hot
b. bottom hose WARM but not HOT or COLD...just warm. Cooler than top but not cold.
If bottom hose is COLD, get a new thermostat or flush radiator, OR BOTH!
If bottom hose is as hot as top...GET A NEW THERMOSTAT!
My thermo was bad and the car NEVER overheated and temp gauge ALWAYS showed normal.

I DON'T THINK THEY CAN BE ADJUSTED,BECAUSE IT OPERATE ON FLUID. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN CHANGING OF THE CLUTCH SLAVE AND IT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. OF COURSE THIS WAS A DIFFERENT BRAND OF CAR.
How do you change the starter on a 1993 Audi 90 CS.?
It's not a piece of cake but it can be done if you're at least slightly mechanically inclined. **Please note: My Audi does not have the bottom protector plate underneath the car and also there is a cover on top of the engine that isn't there so the first step may be removing these two things before you begin, but that's up to you to decide** ***It's also possible that I forgot to put something in the directions or maybe your car is a little different than mine so just fill in the gaps when necessary or do whatever else you need to get the job done*** You'll need a metric socket set, a wrench set (to keep bolts from turning), a hex key set (Allen Wrenches), some screwdrivers, and ingenuity. (1) Jack up the front passenger side of the car put some blocks under the frame for SAFETY and remove the front passenger wheel.
(2) Open the hood and remove the positive lead from the battery (for SAFETY!!!).
(3) Remove the belt cover on the front of the engine using your hex sockets.
(4) Remove the belt from at least around the alternator (yes the alternator is coming out). To do this there is a tension arm located just above and to the right of the alternator. Use your ingenuity and wedge a screwdriver or bar between the arm and the upper belt wheel creating a lever to loosen the tension while removing the belt. Keep it wedged in there so you can easily release the tension again when you're putting the belt back on. (This is all assuming that you don't have the special tool to accomplish this task)
(5) There are two long bolts holding the alternator in place and at least one of them has a nut on the other end that you'll have to put a wrench on to keep it from moving. (You're going to have to find the bolts yourself using your ingenuity). One of bolts has a large spacer on it. Make sure you pay close attention to where everything goes.
(6) Remove the alternator by finagling it out of the tight space and either remove the wires or let the alternator rest on the ground to the side if possible. (make sure you mark the wires if you remove them)
(7) You should now be able to see the starter all nice and tucked up under the engine through the hole now created from removing the alternator.
(8) Remove the large high amp wire from the starter, and also the small solenoid wire.
(9) There are two bolts holding the starter on. The first one is accessible from the bottom and has a nut on it. Unscrew it from the nut side, while keeping the bolt side from moving (it's a tight space and you can't see it well so you'll have to use your sense of touch and ingenuity). The other bolt does not have a nut but you'll have to reach in with your socket wrench through the wheel well and maybe use a breaker bar with your limited space.
(10)Remove the starter by finagling it around until you get it out of the tight space.
(11)Take your new starter and follow these directions in the opposite order to put everything back in place. **It's also a good idea to check out your wires to make sure they're up to par; you may need to simply replace them. But as you may know this particular model Audi has a problem with the key overturning causing the starter to keep running burning it out early. So the starter's probably bad if your hearing a click when you turn the key but nothing else. (make sure you're turning the key back a little bit when you start your car to avoid this problem in the future)** GOOD LUCK!!! Jamin Szczesny (not a mechanic by trade, just a hobby)
If this is a 5-cylinder line the mark up at the back on the cam pulley with the head on the left side. That is, the side with the spark plugs. The mark lines up directly with the top of the cylinder head/valve cover.
If it is a 6-cylinder, you need a special tool for alignment of the cams. Either engine is a valve bender, so you will probably have to pull the head(s).

Audis have a hydraulic clutch system, with a master cylinder (in car on firewall) and a slave cylinder (outside on transmission) with a metal tube between them (which looks like a brake line).

Open tailgate. On level with rear lamp cluster in the recess for the tailgate is a rubber block. Remove block and insert Phillips screwdriver. Undo screw but take care it does not fall into bottom of interior. If that happens either you will have lot more body work to undo to access the missing screw or buy another screw. With the screw loose then tap the rear light cluster with the heel of your hand from the inside towards outsite(the lamp has two plastic nipples that insert into the lateral side of the car). With luck it should come loose and you can then access the bulbs. Reverse proceedure to reassemble.

How do you unblock a heater core?
To unblock the heater core, remove two heater hoses coming off of the engine going to the heater core. They are usually located on the passenger side of the vehicle near the firewall. Then use a high power water or air source to blow through the lines both ways.
