Reset service light changing oil Audi a3?
try this
Here it is as clear as I can make it:
0. Display reads "Service!" when you first start the car.
1. With the ignition key in the off position, push and hold the right button under the speedometer. This is the button you use to reset the trip odometer also.
2. Turn the ignition key to the on position, but don't start the engine. Keep holding down the right button while you turn the key.
3. Push the left button under the tachometer. Your service light should reset to say something like "Service in 8100 miles."

What does eml warning light on a BMW mean?
The "EML" warning light in a BMW indicates a problem with the "drive by wire" throttle control system." "EML" is an acronym for "Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung". Loosely translated from the original German for the BMW owner means Electrionic Engine Power Control.
"EML" is BMW's system name for electronic throttle management. The "EML" system, in it's most basic sense consists of an accelerator pedal (with an electronic position sensor), a computer module (usu. integrated with the main engine computer), and an EDK (Elektronische Drosselklappe or Electronic throttle valve). The EDK is also known as a "drive by wire" throttle. "EDK" throttles use a computer controlled stepper motor rather than a purely mechanical linkage (usu. metal cable attached directly to the accelerator pedal) to control the opening and closing of the throttle plate. "Drive by wire" throttles are very common on modern vehicles starting in the late nineties up through the present day. "Drive by wire" technology enables very precise throttle control to improve drivability and vehicle emissions, as well as many convenience features like electronic cruise control, traction control & stability control.
BMW first implemented "drive by wire" in very limited quantities on the most expensive & sophistocated BMW models starting in 1988. The latest generation of advanced vehicle features to take advandage of "drive by wire" technology are radar guided cruise control, accident avoidance control, autonomous-driving, and autonomous-parking systems.

How do you reset service light manually on a 2004 525i?
Turn the key ON (all the way) but do not start the car. Press and hold the trip reset button for about 10 seconds and the central display of your instrument cluster will first show you the oil service, release the button, press and hold it again and the word "reset?" will appear, release the button and press it again until it shows"----", relaese the button at that moment and let the car recalculate the new value. Once it shows the new mileage value of the next oil service, press and release the button again and it will take you the front brakes and so on. Repeat the above procedure for each component. The order of the menu is the same as the one showed on the navigation display (under the menu Service). Note that it is not recommended to reset the brake pads (front and rear) especially if there's less than 2000 miles left as the computer might drop its "due" mileage to a negative number of -9000 miles. That car has a brake pads thickness self-monitoring system and will re-calculate the mileage left based on the actual thickness but it might stay on a negative mileage until you change the brake pads. If after this (after you changed the brake pads) you still can't reset it then you need to take it to somebody who has a GT-1 (BMW original computer) to reset it. You will save 1000s of dollars if you do this yourself. Have fun. Visitor
What is wrong if the ABS TC and Down Hill warning lights are all on but the vehicle runs just fine?
I had the same problem - the LR dealer changed the sensor on the front left wheel and reset the computer: it was the sensor on wheel
AnswerYou will find that your traction contol has failed or your abs system has a failure, probably a sensor on your wheel or the abs module ,regardless ,it needs attention.my disco is in for same problem at the moment ill keep you posted on the exact findings. Rob... Answerit was the sensor on wheel AnswerRob here again .....back to dealer 4 times ,excuse after excuse, water on sensor, loose sensor ,oh you have a problem....modulator faulty. we will and did replace .three months down the track. the three amigos. abs tc down hill assist lights back on. my opinion? Do not buy any disco that that has those lights on,it seems to me that it is a very common problem with landrover vehicles it costs heaps to fix .2000 odd dollars and landrover pretend its not a problem. Oh i never heard of it before they will say.freelanders also have this problem or one similar.Get real Landrover! A recall is needed, its your brakes that are playing up,iwould love to see or here how many people are having this problem.Rob
AnswerI have a 99 dico II and same problem. No one seems to know what it is or how to fix it. Everyone just wants to charge you to do a diagnose and tell to take it to the dealer. Next time ill buy a cheap SUV. AnswerGenerally when this happens you will need to replace your front pads and rotors with LandRover parts, also for assurance if the code is for a certain sensor it will need to be repalced with the newer style that eleminates the abs sensor connector. The other cause of these lights can be the shuttle valve in the abs modulator. your scan tool schould tell you what is going on. Answertake the vehicle to a land rover specialist. not the dealer. have it checked to see the problem. alot of chain part stores have the obdII scanners and they will scan the system for you. most don't charge to do it. they want you to buy the parts there. the common factor of all three lights is the sensor. the next step up is the CPU. One thing to check on all rovers is the electrical grounds. Mine has four different ones. They can loose the ground on one and can cause similar problems. You may also want to check on landroverforums.com. lots of good info. lots of people that are smarter than me. hope it helps. duboffANSWER
If you don't use your Traction control, Down hill, you can also turn the damn lights off. I think that I put 2000 bucks into this before I gave up. I simply unscrewed the dash, pulled the plastic cover and put fire resistance fabric in the holes where the lights are. Guess what? No problem.
The real answer
the three amogos are usually caused by the rusted or damaged reluctor ring on one of the wheel hubs, the speed sensor cannot determine the correct wheel speed, it sees 1 wheel going 60 mph and because the sensor thinks the other wheel is going 65 mph, so the computer sends a fault code.....so the warning lights come on..........your abs and traction control are at odds with each other......thinking the wheel is loosing traction or skidding ? So you get the lights.....the hub or speed sensor must be replaced.........the trick is to find out which wheel or hub has the problem, the tolerance is critical with the sensor because it "sees" the wheel speed by a frequency of the wheel spinning by the sensor and reluctor ring........not a job for an amateur repairman.......it's your brakes ....do it right, is it worth risking an accident ? ............ it could cause an accident that is much more expensive than leaving it go, .......and blocking the lights out of the dash module is just plain ignorant the problem still exists that's how someone gets screwed...that rover will be sold to an unsuspecting family that does not know better.......can you say LAWSUIT?
What does trans program mean on your BMW 525i dash panel?
possible faulty instrument cluster, depending upon year, if your 5 is before 98, a new improved instrument cluster with a software update was made from 98 and on, you may need this new cluster, however have it diagnoised by a dealer first and make sure there are no faults in the trans (egs) control module first..
In short the cylinder head gasket can "blow" in various places giving a range of symptoms. If the gasket blows between the waterways and the outside of the engine water will seep out under pressure as the engine warms. You will note a loss of coolant. If the gasket blows between the oil and water ways you can find either water in the oil (usually seen as a white milky look to the oil on the dipstick) a rise in oil quantity as the water gets into the sump and a loss of water from the cooling system. As the cooling system runs under pressure it is likelier that you will see water in the oil than vice versa. That said there is sometimes a negative pressure in the cooling system as the engine cools which can draw oil back into the cooling system staining the coolant. If the gasket is blown between one of the combustion chambers and the cooling water ways you will experience high pressures building up in the cooling system. The raditor cap will lift and vent water into the overflow tank at relatively low coolant temperatures. Cracked or warped cylinder heads, cylinder liners or porous liners can give some of the above symptoms.

How do you change glow plugs on a BMW 530d?
I have diesel 86' 524td that I changed the glow plugs on. They run the length of the engine kind of like spark plugs. There are (is) probably six of them. They are smaller than spark plugs and have a wire on top of each one. Be carefull, the wire is held on by a small nut. Take that off first, then the glow plug. For the plug itself you'll need a deep socket like a spark plug socket only smaller. The ones in the front will be easier than the back because of wiring or accessories. Here's a tip from experience. Replace ALL of them at once. It will save you aggrevation in the long run from changing one or two now and later. Good luck. rich c.

Where do you put transmission fluid in 1994 BMW 530i?
On my 94 530i auto, v8, you fill from the bottom side of the pan. There are 2 plugs, 1 drain, 1 fill. My trans. is the 5 hp 18(a5s 310z) 5 speed automatic, behind the 3.0 L. v8. The fill plug is in the corner of the pan furthest from the front of the car. Filling is similar to a manual trans. pull the plug and if nothing comes out fill till it does. At least that's how the parts dept. at the dealership explained it to me. I simply asked them to copy a page from there manuals on this procedure. My trans. only calls for dextron fluid, ($ inexpensive $) where as the other 2 trans. that were also used in those model years call for a lifetime oil that's about ($35 qt.) The trick is haveing the car level and still being able to fill it from underneath the car, lucky for me a friend owns a 2 post hoist that I put my car on. BMW say the trans. should be checked and filled at 30 degrees C. for proper fluid levels.
Where to put water and coolant Into a 2000 BMW X5?
The water and coolant is put in the coolant reservoir for the location of this refer to the owners manual. It is best to do this when the engine is cold otherwise you run the risk of getting boiling water all over you. the mixture of coolant to water should be about 50/50.
What type of coolant should you use in a 2002 BMW 530i?
There is little difference between the various brands of commercial automotive coolant on the market. Prestone may make this claim, and Zerex may make that one. The bottom line is that the Society of Automotive Engineers and the auto makers themselves have minimum requirements for auto coolant. And surprise! all the coolant manufacturers make coolant that conforms to at least the minimum standards. If in doubt, call your BMW dealer, ask for the service department, and inquire about what they recommend. It is far and away more important the the cooling system be serviced and maintained properly (and regularly!) than it is to find a "perfect" coolant.
