Not really an answer, but another question... did you bleed the brakes after you changed them? I remember that is a critical step, NOT to be missed when working on the brakes. Hope this helps.

Could be the master cylinder is bypassing.
No damage done. DOT 4 meets or exceeds the qualities of DOT 3 and has a lower deterioration rate
Is DOT 4 brake fluid better than DOT 3?
Yes. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point than DOT 3, and it is less hygroscopic (less affinity for moisture). Beware of DOT 5, however, because it is not compatible with other brake fluids.

What type of brake fluid do you use in buick?
DOT 3 from an unopened can. If you look on the cap for the master cylinder reservoir you will see the correct fluid listed. Brake fluid should be changed at least every 50,000 miles.
Why brake fluid should be changed?
the average boiling point of the brake fluid has dropped to a potentially dangerous level because of moisture contamination and may not meet minimum federal requirements for brake fluid.
Where does the brake fluid go in a 1989 Honda Accord?
It goes in the master brake cylinder reservoir. The cap of the reservoir says to use only Dot3 brake fluid. This cylinder is accessible on the driver's side of the car when you open the hood of the car. Do not confuse it with the power steering reservoir which is also on the driver's side. The power steering reservoir is the one closest to the front of the car and the cap on it also tells you to use only Honda power steering fluid.
Are brake fluids and power steering fluids the same?
NO !! POWER STEERING FLUID IS SIMILAR TO TRANSMISSION FLUID...
BRAKE FUILD IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE

What is the Difference between a brake cylinder leak and an axle seal leak?
It all depends on what part is leaking what fluid. Brake cylinder would leak brake fluid. Axle seal would leak gear oil.
