How do you recharge the air conditioner on a 1999 Buick Regal ls?
Purchase a recharge kit and a can or r134 from the auto parts store. Locate the low pressure port for the air conditioning ( usually close to the compressor ) it will have a screw on cap with an L on it and follow the directions on the kit. Dont worry the connector on the can will only fit on the low pressure side so you cant make a mistake.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the upper mounting bracket above the radiator.
- Detach the electrical connections at the coolant fan, then remove the fan.
- Disconnect the upper and lower oil cooler pipes from the radiator.
- Raise and safely support the vehicle.
- Unfasten the retainers from the engine harness and position them away from the starter.
- Disconnect both lower oil cooler hoses from the radiator.
- Detach the starter electrical connections.
- Remove the upper flywheel inspection cover.
- Unfasten the mounting bolts/screws, then remove the starter and shims (if used) from the engine.

To install:
- Position the starter and shims (if used) to the engine, then secure with the mounting bolts/screws. Tighten to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
- Attach the electrical connections to the starter. Tighten the solenoid battery terminal outside nut to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm). and the solenoid "S'' terminal inside nut to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm).
- Position the upper inspection cover, then secure with the retainers to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
- Attach both lower oil cooler hoses to the radiator.
- Fasten the engine wire harness and retainers.
- Carefully lower the vehicle.
- Attach the oil cooler pipes to the radiator.
- Install the coolant fan and attach the electrical connectors.
- Install the upper engine mounting bracket and tighten the bolt/screws to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
- Connect the negative battery cable, then check the engine oil level and add as necessary.

First, make sure that the fuse is still working. Use the vehicle manual to determine the correct fuse. Begin by removing the headliner, it comes down easily if you remove the screws on the sun visors on the driver and passenger sides and any other screws holding it up. Next, pop out the sunroof switch, it should come out with a flathead screwdriver and some slight gental leverage. The sunroof motor should be visable under the headliner where the sunroof switch was. If the motor is stuck it is holding the sunroof in place. It needs to be removed. (Before removing test the wires to see if power is getting to the motor. If there is power you know this is not an electrical problem.) There should only be a few small bolts holding it in. Experiment with different ratchet sizes to see which will fit. Once the motor removed the sunroof should be easy to slide down.

It's been awhile since I did mine, but it's about the size of a quarter with a bolt on each side and of course an electrical plug on it . If you stand on the pass side of the car with your knees to the right front whel the sensor is to the left side of the crank and water pump pulleys. T help loosen the support rod on the top of the fender, removethe clamp and the hose from the radiator, grab the overflow tank for the radiator and pull it up and out for a lot more visibility. You didn't say if you had a 3.8 engine, that is what all this is for. Beaware that on high milage 3.8s the magnet on the end of the cam can come out due to the plastic insert that holds it becoming brittle. The cam sensor on a 91 is only going to effect the firt 2 seconds of acceleation, you may get a little hesitation, but it should still run. Good luck!

Under and behind the glove box - it is "hidden" and after you remove the glove box you must get under the dash and look wayyy up and you will see a black box with a green plug on one side and a black one on the other - I have used newrockies online website for the bipass module/unit as these factory tdm's are a nightmare as the car gets older and they no longer read the keys or just stop working like mine did - and your car can just "die" while you are driving it. Get it out and do it yourself - may take time if you are new to all this or just about an hour if you are familiar with tdm issues.
