It can be done by touch but the risk to damage the headlight assembly (ass'y) is high. To take out the ass'y is done by removing the grille (4 screws) then the molding under the ass'y (no tools) then 2 screws under the ass'y. To replace the bulb by touch, remove the cover above the headlight (looks like a part of the shroud). Remove the black plastic cover. Pinch and remove the wire harness, pinch and remove the bulb holder. The bulb holder has a wire retainer similar to a paper clip and can pop out of position easily. Pinch and remove operations can break a plastic hinge that's necessary for headlight aiming (that's the risk). It seems like a lot of trouble to take out the whole ass'y but its really one of the easiest things you can do on a Catera. Start to finish it will be about 30 minutes for each light.

i have a 97 Catera and it stalls in either drive or reverse. idles fine for 30 minutes but shuts off almost instantly. replaced CPS and tightened all grounds. No change. but sometimes it will drive beautifully... an answer would be great. next step for me is to fix the valve cover leaks and check all connections and hoses. any help?

Not completely Stock... With slight modifications to the front plastic portion of the wheel well.

A 22 inch rim with 255/30/22 tires can fit.

HOWEVER! With stiffer springs there will be ALOT less Rubbing...

1. Be Careful. 2. Remove old oilpan. 3. While you are there replace the oil pump and wire out your oil holes. 4. Replace with new oilpan. The oilpan does not need to be torqued to it's limit - just enough so it doesn't leak. Gasket sealer only makes things worse. If your oilpan is getting pressurized you have other problems. 1. Be Careful. 2. Remove old oilpan. 3. While you are there replace the oil pump and wire out your oil holes. 4. Replace with new oilpan. Typically in the exhaust manifold just before the head-pipe or at the inlet of the head-pipe.

Note:

Cyls Compresion is perfect, sparks, spark plugs, ignition coil, all is fine

You have an ignition coil at rear of plenum. trace wires back to it...it is bad! Replace it and you should be fine!

you need to replace the brake light button under the brakes inside the car

You don't, the timing is computer controled and needs no attention unless the timing gears strip in which case you properly align the camshaft and crankshaft before slipping on the new gears&chain or timing belt if so equipped.

I don't think you can change it. I have a 1999 catera and my transmission fluid has to be changed at the dealer.

You may need to replace a freeze plug. I haven't had to change one on my 2000 Catera yet but I have changed them on my last car (Camry). The freeze plugs are cheap and can be found at many auto parts stores but I found a good selection at Kragen.

Yes, but only under certain circumstances. There is a procedure you can follow to get an airbag disable switch installed. You need to fill out a form and get a certificate that allows you get a switch installed. Could be a clogged catalytic converter, if you are also getting wose gas mileage, and it sort of smells like raw eggs. Otherwise, I would get a fuel injector cleaning, and try switching to a better octane at the pump.

For each side under the hood , right behind the light you twist and pull it out, it's tight , but if i can do it anyone can.

had the same problem. get out of the car close the door, lock the car with the key then unlock it, should work

in your manual it says to do a reset by turning the knob to close and push it in for 5 seconds. if that doesnt work check your fuses. there are 2 #15 and #twenty something mabe 23. if that doesnt work replace the sunroof motor

The best way to find your vacume leak is to start it up and spray starting fluid around and when you hear the engine rev that's where the leak is at

The cadillac catera did not come out with a key for the trunk its all electronic so if your battery is dead there is a release lever in the trunk on the trunk lid.
