What On a 98 Cadillac Catera what would make it not have spark and get gas at same time?

One possible issue could be a faulty ignition coil or ignition control module, which would prevent the spark from reaching the spark plugs. Another possibility could be a problem with the fuel injectors or fuel pump, leading to a lack of fuel delivery to the engine. It's recommended to have a professional diagnose the specific cause of the issue.

Water leaking on passenger side when car is started the water increases 1998 Catera?

It's the coolant control valve for the heater core that's leaking. It's under more pressure when the engine is running and that why the leak is more noticable.

What would cause radio to not work in 1998 Cad Catera Had an accident replaced radiator Now radio does not work during drive but comes on when take the key out of ignition goes off when open door?

The fuse that controlls your radio when the inition is on is the same that controlls the in-dash indicator light that your brights are on, the twilight sentinel for your rear-view mirror, and your auxillary electric water pump. Most likely, when you got in your accedent, the surge tank (which holds your excess collant) overflowed on the auxillary pump, which is electrical and located directly beneath the tank. Why they would put this there baffles me, but to check if that is the problem simply unplug that pump, and replace your blown fuses. If you turn your car on and the fuse remains intact, replace the pump. Be careful that you have not shorted the lines running to the pump, however, as they could have water damage from the surge tank as well. My auxillary pump has been unplugged for three months, and the car is fine.

Where is the turn switch for a Cadillac Catera and if car started and ran but when stalled it will not start for a day could bad gas cause this?

This could be an indication of a failing crank sensor. GM has issued a recall for this and you shoudl be able to find out more information from any cadillac or GM dealer.

What happens to a car if there is no antifreeze in it in the winter time?

Pure water will freeze below 32 and water tends to expand as it freezes. It could damage the engine block, heads and radiator among other things. If you could get the car to run the engine block will melt the water in the engine but the parts that don't melt will trap the water as it becomes super heated. Head gaskets, the heads themselves and the engine block can be damaged. The superheated water will be like a bomb and will eventually get out somewhere in the system.

How do you change ignition coil on a 1997 Cadillac Catera?

You want to do this carefully. This part commonly fails on 97-98 cars. The coil packs ARE different and expensive. So make sure you have the proper year. This model uses a single pack that fires all six cylinders. Later years use two separate packs. Do the obvious first disconnect the battery. The coil pack is located at the rear driver side of the engine. It is secured by what are called external torx bolts. You need to pick up a set of these sockets or you run the risk of stripping the heads off. Removal is very straightforward. You dont have a lot of room to work in though. It is possible to remove as is but some people prefer to remove the cowl and upper intake manifold to have more room to work. You will need a 1/4" ratchet. 6" extension. Wobble head socket and an external torx E-8. Buy a set if you can as there are many more of these fasteners in different sizes on this car.

What is the cost of a used 2001 Cadillac Catera engine?

$900-1200 is the going rate in most of the country. However this car uses the GM L81 3.0 V6. This engine has also been used in some Saturn and Saab models so be on the lookout for one of those as well. You would need to reuse your parts from intake manifold up though if you went that route.

Where is the cabin filter housing on 2000 Cadillac Catera?

Open the hood and secure it in the raised position. Then peel back the weather striping on the passenger side of cowl cover. This is the hard plastic piece. Remove the cabin air filter access panel housing cover. This is under the windshield almost. Locate the tabs on the left and right sides of the cabin air filter and

push the tabs outward. Push the cabin air filter to the right and then remove by pulling straight up. Replace filter and reverse the above procedures.

Key is hard to get out of 2000 Catera?

My car is having similar issue. Found that where the key is inserted into the ignition switch presses in when you start the car and is supposed release when key is taken out. Key is hard to get out if the lock cylinder does not retract outward.

What would cause a 1998 Cadillac catera to overheat and water come out the overflow after replacing the radiator?

I have owned my 97 Catera for many years. I have learned everything bad about this series of Cadillac and there are many. One of the biggest problems with this car is overheating. In 90% of these cases, it is warped heads and/or the gasket cylinder head gaskets that have been eaten away and water is leaking into the engine or exhaust system. When the leaking cylinder fires, it blows hot exhaust back into the cooling system that super heats the water and causes overheating. If your Catera has overheated more than once and the temperature gage was well into the red, it has most likely warped the head. In most cases the coolant from GM has to be changed every 50,000 miles or it becomesacidic and eats out the head gasket. There was a law suit against GM for this coolant that GM lost. Other causes of overheating can be caused by a stuck thermostat, but the result will be the same, a warped head. I had to replace one head (to warped to resurface) and both head gaskets. There is a simple test for a blown head gasket. It is a blue solution that if it senses carbon dioxide it turns green. A tool that is similar to a turkey baster bulb filled with this solution is put into the overflow tank hole. By squeezing the bulb it picks up air and if the air contains CO2 it turns the water to a different color. Check with a place like PEP Boys or some place that has a garage to see if they have this tool in their shop. It is the easiest, cheapest, and most sure way of checking for a blown head gasket. If you do have a blown head gasket, you will likely have to have the heads resurfaced. A good machine shop will not resurface the head if it is warped more than 10 thousands, because it will just warp again.

How do you relieve the fuel system pressure on a 1998 Cadillac Catera?

On the passenger side, just under the air intake cover, there are two lines with nuts on them attached to the fuel rails. Turn them 1/2 turn and you will bleed the pressure from the system.
