It depends on the vehicle. You'll need to refer to the owners manual for specifics. Most vehicle manufacturers don't require that you disconnect the batery any more. Why would you want to reset all of the radio buttons every time you change the oil? On the other hand, if you're talking about resetting an error condition, many of the OBD code scanners can send a reset pulse to the computer, and you don't even need to unplug anything... except the OBD code scanner when you're finished. I just noticed that this is a Caddilac question, many GM vehicles have an "Oil Service" reset button under the hood, in the fuse panel that is adjacent to the battery. With the keyswitch ON but the engine not running, press and hold the button for about 10 seconds. If someone is watching the dashoard they should probably see the oil light flash a couple times. When you're done, turn the key off. Next time you start the engine, the oil change light should act normal again (bulb test when you first turn on the key). 5 minutes.

Sounds like a vacume leak could be at the throttle body base check the gasket by spraying carb cleaner around it (be careful this is very flamable) if the engine changes idle you found it replace the gasket if not check the idle air control valve somtimes they can be cleaned and reinstall but most of the time I just replace them. To add to the above answer, overfilling is just as bad as under filling. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Drain the oil and change the filter. Pour in 4 quarts 4 cylinder or V6, 5 quarts V8, and start the engine and let run for 45 seconds. Shut off and wait 45 minutes. Check the oil level and add as nessassary to reach the full mark. You now know the capacity.
Caution: On some BMW, Mercedes, Lincoln & Cadillac with a V8, the engine may hold as much as 10 quarts of oil with filter change.

Remove all wires and hoses that would block your way. Disconnect the front fuel rail from the back before removal. (Don't loose the o-rings)
If the front rail gets stuck on the power steering pump, disconnect the injector clips on the injectors closest to the pump and wiggle the rail out. (you will need to have the injector clips off to put it everything back in.) The manual may suggest removing the power steering pump.
Be sure that all injectors and clips are properly seated after install. Don't let anything fall into the engine. Plugging the holes is a good idea. Check for fuel leaks when you are done.
It shouldn't. My 94 4.3L runs smoothly at all rpms and all temps. I've had it over 9 years, so I've had a lot of time to notice something like that. i'd start checking for codes, then do a tune-up.
Agreed.. check for codes ..if none found do a tune up..plugs wires cap rotor.. and may want to replace coil to eliminate that as well.. there are number of other things it could be if that doesnt solve it..but it's cheapest and easiest to start with..
