the bolts inside of trunk holding plastic bumper have rubber washers that go bad from over tightening and they will leak there. fixed my Seville with gasket sealer and new washers.

I just turned a motorized trunk motor on a 1996 Deville into a non-mortorized latch.

1. Unplug electrical connection, remove the whole latch assembly.

2. Remove metal motor housing, may be torx screws, pull housing off, motor shaft may come out also.

3. Motor brushes can be pulled out of the way to reinsert motor shaft to engage drive gear.

4. Turn drive shaft manually to lower latch to proper closing height. Look on latch shaft you will see where to stop.

5. It will take many turns to obtain proper closing height.

6. You do not have to put motor back together, just mount latch assembly back in trunk. If height is not correct, use motor shaft to adjust up or down. Leave electrical connector unpluged.

I just did mine, works great! Save lots of money!

Both are located just behind the radiator in the middle of the cradle setup. Look below the valve covers and just below where the cylinder heads meet with the block. Here is a link to a picture of the setup:

It is just to the right of the radiator hose, under the air filter assembly. You will need a star-bit to take off the assembly and you will see a cap labeled "Trans Fluid"

Of course you can. You can convert the air suspension struts to regular shocks. Will run from $400 to $100 depending on where you go.

You can disable the ride control by looking in the left side of your trunk and turning the ride control button to off if it has one.

As this car never came with a manual transmission, you cannot get parts from a donor car. Even if you could the task is daunting. But in your case, you will need to do lots of fabricating, as you won't be able to find any parts that will fit without major modifications. I am not laughing, but you either better have lots of money or lots of skill.

if you are using your original engine, determine whether your engine is transversed or not, find a donor car with the same configuration. locate a donor with similar block type and remove trans, clutch, etc., you may want to aquire the cv axles for modifications at a speed shop if you are working with FWD, or the drive shaft if RWD.IN MOST CASES, IT SHOULD SWAP EASILY 60-40%...

If the messages are flashing it's very important to have a mechanic diagnose the issues the car is having NOW! Ignoring the lights will only cost you more money.

You can get a wiring diagram for a 1997 Cadillac Seville STS at Wiring4Cars. The site lets you search for diagrams by year, make, and model.

Go to your local parts store. Get a Chiltons or Motors manual for your Caddy for about $15. Follow the directions. I buy a lot of old cars. That's what I always do!

Better yet call or go to library and have them get you a chiltons for this model for free. Only if you plan to keep the car a very long time and you like the manual buy it.

Here are a couple of things to try: Maybe the latch is not ajusted properly to fully grasp the lid catch or the switch is feeding current to the latch which would require replacement of the switch.

It is very difficult and time consuming for a back yard mechanic. I have done it before and I didn't think I would ever finish. I'll put it this way, if you're going to try this yourself you'll need every tool that you've got and then some. 2 head gaskets, head studs, valve seals, timing belt along with tentionors and all pulleys associated with the timing and you'll probably want to get some 3rd gen lash adjusters will get you started. You'll need timing tools and also a tool that is used to compressed the valve springs to get the keepers out. You can do a search on all of this. It's very extensive you can't do this on a weekend.

Hey man, I have a 95 Seville sls 4.6 liter and i am needing to replace my alternator as well,it says to remove cooling outlet hose from ac condenserhave to remove radiator and left and right cooling fans and some other stuff in my chiltons, my conclusion now is to take mine to a shop and let them handle it, especially having to mess around with ac lines

1991 Seville VATs module is located in the trunk midway between the rear deck speakers. Access by pulling down the upholstered rear deck cover in the trunk. Module is a black box about 1 inch by 3 inches by 5 inches and has many wires attached by connectors.
