How do you start cadillac deville Ran out of gas blew fuel pump fuse still not start?
- I own a shop, and have seen this many times. What has happened is this; When its allowed to run completely out of fuel, the pump then looses its prime, and must be ran manually in order to get fuel pressure back up on the fuel rail, or it won't start. There are two ways to do this; One: you can find the wire that is behind the brake booster or around the fender on the drivers side near the back. It will be a red wire that has an end on it that looks like a plug, but its not plugged to anything. This is what this wire is for, so you will need to hook 12 volts to it, and you will hear the fuel pump come on. Allow it to run for about 10-15 seconds, and unhook it. The engine should now start & run fine. Second: you can purchase a spray can of carb/choke cleaner at a parts store, remove the air cleaner hose going to the intake/throttle body. Hold the throttle wide open, and spray about 4-5 seconds directly into the throttle body. Move the can back, and start the engine. It will run for a few seconds, and stall again. Repeat this until it runs on its own.

Does the "Service Stability System" message come up? If so, you probably have a leak in one of the shocks. Warning, the 99 Seville STS has electronically controlled suspension and leveling, the rear shocks and front struts are very expensive to replace.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1998 Chevy Malibu v6 and what tools are needed?
You will need 8mm and 10mm sockets, and wrenches, 1/4 inch rachet and a good size pry tool like a screwdriver. I changed mine without removing the belt. The pump is behind the larger pully on the top front of the 3.1. It is smaller than the pully so you won't see it until you remove the pully. It's not difficult, just watch which way the pump is setting before removing it and put the new one in the same way you can scribe a mark to check alignment before removeal. Be sure to use some type of gasket sealer like Indian head to keep the gasket in place. Good Luck

The squeaky noise may be the belt itself. Otherwise you may have a bearing going out on your power steering pump, or one of the other pulleys. Serpentine belts are not expensive. I would change it/them out first to see if the squeak goes away. If it does not then it sounds like one of your components, power steering, air conditioning compressor, or alternator or air pump may be going out. You can buy a can of belt dressing and spray it on the belt to see if it stops squealing. If it does, then you know the belt is getting bad. The belt dressing is only a band aid. The squeak will return. If you have "belt(s)", then you may want to see if you can take one belt off, run the motor shortly and see if the squeal is still there. If it is, then it's the belt on the engine. If the squeal is gone, you have the culprit in your hand. Do not run the engine long without both belts, just long enough to find out if the belt squeals or not.

Not much info there but in most cases if you are going to replace it with a new one I would unplug the wire harness then cut off the wires at the sensor then you can slip a 7/8" box wrench onto the sensor and break it loose with a counterclockwise motion and remove it.

Loosen and remove the bolts in a crisscross pattern from the center outward. Insert a rag into the block opening and scrape off any remains of the old gasket.
WARNING When working on the coolant system (for example, replacing the water pump or thermostat), a certain amount of coolant will spill on the floor. The antifreeze in the coolant causes it to be very slippery. Always immediately wipe up any coolant that spills to reduce or eliminate the chance of injury.
When replacing a water pump, always follow the procedures recommended by the manufacturer. Coat the other side of the gasket with sealer, and position the pump against the engine block until it is properly seated. Install the mounting bolts and tighten them evenly in a staggered sequence to the torque specifications with a torque wrench. Careless tightening could cause the pump housing to crack. Check the pump to make sure it rotates freely. The water pumps on many late-model OHC engines are driven by the engine's timing belt. When replacing the water pump on these engines, always replace the timing belt. Make sure all pulleys and gears are aligned according to specifications when installing the belt.
