The ECU is located in the same housing as the air filter. (in front of the housing). Take the star bolts loose and remove the housing. You will see ECU inside it.

7 Rotate and extract alternator from engine bay.

There is a black cover ( large cover ) on the driver side under the hood there is a small black door that's pulls open there you will see some of the fuses to see all the fuses you will need to remove the large black cover ......Yes the large cover that you small fuse door is on ( the whole thing ) if that's not what you need then only other fuse panel is located in the trunk on the drivers side on the back of the seat under the greay/ black trunk liner.....

Stalling can be caused by a number of things. Fouled plugs - rare. Dirty Injectors - not so rare. Bad Gas - not so rare these days. Bad PCM (engine computer) - fairly rare.
This engine is a very sophisticated, computer controlled engine with very little user-modifiable stuff. Does the "Check Engine" light come on? When does it stall - will it not hold an idle? Warm or cold? The best thing you can do is take the car to a Caddy dealer and have them run the diagnostics on it. Their Tech2 scanner can find ANYTHING that has happened to your engine. They can then recommend a fix. It may be as simple as a bad plug or wire, or a clogged fuel filter, or something as expensive as a failed PCM.
How do you remove the headlight assembly on 2005 Cadillac STS?
To remove the headlight assembly you need to remove the front bumper cover. There are two bolts and one stud with a nut that hold the headlight in. Two of the fasteners are behind the bumper cover. Took me about two and a half hours. Make sure the problem is the bulbs. When it happened to me the bulbs were ok. The real problem was the relay was not grounded. The ground is what the switch controls.

The second is underneath the rear seat next to the battery. This is called the rear junction block according to GM. It looks just like the under-hood fuse box and is on the driver side. In order to get the seat off just pull up on the bottom front of the cushion.
