Follow the top radiator hose over to the engine and where it connects to the thermostat housing. There should be two bolts holding the housing to the motor. Remove the housing and replace the thermostat and gasket. The larger side of the thermo goes in the engine.

Because heat from the engine is responsible for heating the heater coil which the motor blows air through. it is indeed connected to the engine cooling system which in most cases like a radiator inside your dashboard. On most vehicles when you turn on the engine, it is the only time you can use the heater but identical to it are some systems which use heater coils just like the ones you see inside a handy heat blower.

. . . unless you can afford to risk loss of use and/or expensive repairs, addition of stop leak products to the cooling system is not recommended. The number or engines brought to an early end by addition of cooling system stop leak additives is probably beyond estimation. But, if the car is near its end already (and you have alternative transportation) it might not hurt to try.

Check your coolant level. If its too low the sensor won't read the temperature of your coolant.

If it is stuck open, the answer is yes. When in doubt, just replace it.

Driving with the windows down and AC off at lower speeds is more fuel efficient. At higher speeds(45+), having the windows down will create more drag and it is more efficient to have the windows up with the AC on.

you need to replace your heater core

pull out the fuse and in the middle of the plasitc body you will see a metal strip if this is smoked an canot be seen or the plastic has lost color in anyway it is blown you could also apply a volt meter to both side of the fuse an turn it to dc an if it does not get any volts it is blown but just looking is way easyer

Start your car and go back in the house but make sure your car is locked and running with the heat on full blast and then pray to God that you have a second key in the drawer in the kitchen beside the drawer that has the pencils and pens that is under the phone. If you do, then after about 10 minutes go out to your car and start driving. If you don't, i laff because u locked your keys in the car.

No. The thermostat controls the flow of water through the radiator, not the heating core. Using a thermostat with a higher temperature rating delay the opening of the thermostat (and the flow of water to the radiator) until that higher temperature is reached. This will cause the coolant to run hotter.

With engine warmed up and running, open the hood, locate both heater hoses, feel each heater hose with your hand. If both hoses are equally hot, I would suspect you have a temp blend door problem. Replace the temp blend door actuator. If one hose is hot and the other is only warm or cool, I would suspect you have a plugged heater core, Try flushing it.

Make sure your antifreeze levels are adequate (if it is too low, then there will not be enough hot antifreeze to flow through the heater core to make ther air warm.) I had this problem in my blazer and it fixed it right away. If that does not work, your heater core could be bad and a new one cost between 40-100 dollars and installation would probably be about the same.

my ford puma has the same problem, i was losing coolant through the heater control valve on the bulkhead of the car so had to temp bypass it but if the valve stops working or the plug comes adrift it will stop warm water getting into the heater system in the car so i would check the heater control valve. you can buy them from eBay for about £12.

It's in the plastic air duct under the hood on the firewall. It is sort of below the right windshield wiper near the chassis ground strap. There is a large electrical connector plugged into it. There are 4 small screws holding it in. If there are no screws you have to cut a perfect rectangle around it and patch it back in. With or without screws, use air conditioner putty/caulk. Most importantly, DO NOT ALLOW THE RESISTOR TO TOUCH ANYTHING METAL OR YOU WILL FRY SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKEN.

I would replace the thermostat, it's a cheap part and could explain the overheating, also is your fan running? If it won;t kick on then there is the overheating prob. Might just be a relay or fuse. You might be blowing fuses because of a short in the heater control pannel. I had to replace it on my 94. It cost about $30 dollars from the junk yard and solved my problems. I would start with these few simple fixes. Hope they help, if not, take it to a garage that offers free estimates, then fix the problems they find. I do that sometimes also. Replace the Thermostat.

Ideally you need something to help pull hard on the wire. Try gripping it with a pair of pliers and giving it a firm tug. Maybe partly wrapping it round a screwdriver will do. Hopefully you will hear that reassuring sound of the bonnet popping.

It depends on where the break happened. IF you can get to the cable at all the previous advice works. If it broke at the actual latch. Good luck. It will take lots of work. Sometimes you can get to it by removing the grill. I have an 84 full size blazer and it broke on me at the latch. I had to crawl underneath, remove the fan from the front of the motor, squeeze in between the motor and radiator....then with a flash light in my mouth and a friend pushing down on the hood, stick a small screwdriver into the lever that the cable used to connect to and manually push it. Lucky for me I had room. Otherwise you may have to remove the grill and drill out/ break the latch bolts so the hood will open with the latch still connected. Drove me CRAZY!

check the relays.If it doesnt blow air at all then check the blower relay or fuse

The answer is no. The reason being the cost to try such a task and the complexity of accomplishing it.
