Hi can you tell you if the 1975 Corvette L48 had aluminum heads and and if it was a four bolt main?
The 1975 L48 Corvette engine was the "base" engine and never was offered with aluminum heads or a 4-bolt main block from the factory. The L82, offered in 1975 had 4-bolt mains but still only had cast iron heads.
The L82 engine has more horse power than the L48. It also has 4 bolt mains, instead of 2 bolt mains, different cam, intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, and a number of other things where different between the two engines over the years. The biggest way to tell the difference is when you fire up a L82 it will sound like a solid lifter motor, where the L48 wont. The L82 is a looser motor which means it can handle higher RPM, the biggest problem with L82's is if they are not maintained with good oil, and service correctly you will blow it up alot easier than a L48. How do you remove the gas tank on a 1972 corvette?
Empty gas from tank. Jack the rear up high enough to allow room to get the tank out from under the car. Remove spare tire and soak all nuts holding tank straps with penetrating oil, Very carefully loosen strap nuts, remove straps and lower tank.
As the tank is being lowered take caution, there are several fuel lines that must be disconnected at this point. One on the drivers side and two on the passengers side.
What temp should your 86 blazer with a 350 operate at?
Between 180 and 195 degrees is the safe range.
The C-5 introduced in 1997 is still an engineering marvel, and the newer C-6 being sold now has a lot of improvements. If you are considering buying a used C-5, they had most of the bugs out by 2001.
A good answerThe best Corvette is the last one that rolled off the assembly line.
The right Answerthe corvette zr1 is the fastest and best all around corvette.
Leave it to a specialist to answer this oneIf you have never heard of Gordon Killebrew, you don't know Corvettes. You can Google him and learn who he is. He was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2007.
I was at a Killebrew seminar a couple of years ago at Mid-America Funfest. Gordon gives free seminars there. Someone stood up and asked him what the best Corvette was. He said that he has been asked that many times and his answer is always the same. He said "The best Corvette made was the last one to leave the assembly line". The reason is that improvements are continually being made and each Corvette that rolls off the line is better than the one before it.
This is a fair and un-biased answer to this question. To say that any specific model, ZR1, Z06, Grand Sport, or whatever, is better that the others is simply ones opinion. Gordon's answer is a fact.
What is the firing order and plug wire order on a 1985 corvette 350 engine?
gm v8's have been for an incredibly long time -- 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
most say it on the intake manifold somewhere, though not always.
cylinder banks are odd numbered on the drivers side starting near the front of the car. so the drivers side forward most cylinder is 1. starting at the front of the engine working back on the drivers side, cylinders are numbered 1-3-5-7. cylinder banks are even numbered on the passenger side of the car, so the passenger side forward most cylinder is number 2. starting at the front of the engine on the passenger side working your way back, cylinders are numbered 2-4-6-8. distributor rotation is clockwise.
could be a bad ground
Is a 1994 trans am motor lt1 same as a 1996 corvette motor lt1?
95% the same yes. The Vette had 4 bolt mains vs the Camaro/Firebird 2 Bolt Mains and the vette had SLIGHTLY better intake/exhaust. All in all the Vette Lt1 developed about 25hp more than the Camaro/Firebird version (which can EASILY be caught up to)
How do you replace a starter in a 1994 Corvette?
I had to take mine to a mechanic, and it cost me almost 500 dollars including parts and labor. The cheapest part I could find online was about 230 dollars. They had it done by noon the next day, and I dropped it off right before close. I thought it was pretty expensive, but all in all I was happy.
What is the difference between a 350 and a lt1 engine?
heads and intake
lets not forget that the LT1 uses a reverse pattern cooling system, a gear driven water pump, an optispark which utilizes an optical pickup, a 1 piece rear main seal (prior to 1986 was a 2 piece), and centerbolt heads (different bolt pattern) than a standard 350 block... not mentioning the opti is located on the FRONT of the motor UNDER the water pump :)
