gm v8's have been for an incredibly long time -- 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

most say it on the intake manifold somewhere, though not always.

cylinder banks are odd numbered on the drivers side starting near the front of the car. so the drivers side forward most cylinder is 1. starting at the front of the engine working back on the drivers side, cylinders are numbered 1-3-5-7. cylinder banks are even numbered on the passenger side of the car, so the passenger side forward most cylinder is number 2. starting at the front of the engine on the passenger side working your way back, cylinders are numbered 2-4-6-8. distributor rotation is clockwise.

95% the same yes. The Vette had 4 bolt mains vs the Camaro/Firebird 2 Bolt Mains and the vette had SLIGHTLY better intake/exhaust. All in all the Vette Lt1 developed about 25hp more than the Camaro/Firebird version (which can EASILY be caught up to)

I had to take mine to a mechanic, and it cost me almost 500 dollars including parts and labor. The cheapest part I could find online was about 230 dollars. They had it done by noon the next day, and I dropped it off right before close. I thought it was pretty expensive, but all in all I was happy.

lets not forget that the LT1 uses a reverse pattern cooling system, a gear driven water pump, an optispark which utilizes an optical pickup, a 1 piece rear main seal (prior to 1986 was a 2 piece), and centerbolt heads (different bolt pattern) than a standard 350 block... not mentioning the opti is located on the FRONT of the motor UNDER the water pump :)

First change the fuel filter. Check the cat convertor.

Is the temp gauge showing the engine running hot? Could be a water pump prob if so.

second the first answer probably a clog in your exhaust,if not my camaro did something similar it was mass airflow sensor,but if that was the case it would register with computer.

There can be several answers to this question depending on specs, upgrades, etc.

Talking stock, and assuming that compared to any other TPI engine that this is indeed a problem the most likely cause is a vacuum leak.

If the vehicle has a big cam, (not stock) that's just how some cams idle is a real lopey idle.

It could also be detonation. The corvette is equipped with a knock sensor, so if there is any sort of tapping in the engine, whether this be from a problem, a deserved tuneup, or even if you tapped the engine with a wrench, the knock sensor will try to compensate by changing the timing of the vehicle slightly. This with change the vehicle idle up and down.

No. Factory equipped Mustangs cannot match the Viper's V-10 motor.

2009 Dodge Viper SRT-10 claimed top speed = 200 mph

2009 Ford Mustang GT V-8 claimed top speed = 145 mph

Keep in mind Dodge may have claimed a slightly higher top speed than actual to appeal to wealthy speed demons who can afford to insure such a car, while Ford may have claimed a lower than real life number to keep the Mustang affordable to insure.

Even with that taken into consideration a Viper would run down a factory built Mustang in short order. Even specialty built Mustangs like the Roush and Saleen models would have a hard time keeping up.

However the Mustang's lighter weight and handling will give it an edge in some aspects of driving and racing.

When I changed my shifter in my 74 camaro I had a similar problem with the battery dying. I later found out that it was because my neutral safety switch was going bad. so what i did was bypass my neutral safety switch by taking it off and just keeping it in the park position but that made the problem worse so what i did was take the n/s switch that came with my shifter and ran two wires from the n/s (RED And PURPLE WHIRES) which is the park position under the carpet to the n/s for the console and i havnt had a problem. or what you can do is disconnect the green and purple wires and ru a jumper wire between them to see if that will work.

Horse Power, was a unit established when car were first being made. How much horse power a machine has is how fast it can go, realitive to the make or model. When a car goes from zero to sixty its a sign of horse power. It comes from when people were riding around on horse back and cars were just being made. Its mostly used in cars to describe speed realitive to distance, however the same principles apply to planes and trains
