Yes batteries are a form of electricity know as DC or Direct Current. Direct current is produced by such sources as batteries ,thermocouple's cells, and commutator-type electric machines of the dynamo type. Direct current may flow in a conductor such as a wire, but can also be through semiconductors, insulators, or even through a vacuum as in electron or ion beams. The electric charge flows in a constant direction, distinguishing it from alternating current or AC.

Brief history
One of the very first implements to straighten hair was called the straightening comb. There appears to be some confusion about who actually invented it as this initially was attributed to Madam Walker way back in 1905. However, this is NOT true. She was responsible for producing many hair care products and in fact she was the first self made female millionaire in the USA. Although she did not invent the straightening comb she did popularize its use amongst black women who she taught how to use the device. There is much evidence to suggest that straightening combs, hot irons were available as far back as 1872. And it was around this time a person called Marcel Grateau (a Parisian) who started using heated rods to straighten hair. This tool helped straighten the hair and caused less damage than other hair straightening techniques.
Heated combs were also used throughout the early days. The comb was placed in a special warming device until heated to the right temperature and then pulled through the hair. I've read many a story about these early straighteners and my mom remembers many an hour spent in her kitchen surrounded by the smell of burnt hair and scalp. Thank god for the Sedu ceramic. Since the 1870's the use of different metals and materials have been tried and tested. Aluminium was used on early straighteners and metal was obviously used along the way too. Nowadays most manufacturers, like Sedu, use ceramic and tourmaline which give great results. I'm sure the next generation of hair straightener will be made from even more weird and wonderful materials. How's about Kryptonite?
There are a great many conductors in the world. These conductors can include musical conductors and electrical conductors for example.
How do you delete programs off of the TI-83?
Turn the calculator on and press 2nd, + (MEM), 2:Delete, 7:Prgm. This shows a list of all programs with the cursor pointed at the first one. Use the up- or down-arrow keys to place the cursor in front of the one you want to delete, then press ENTER. Repeat for all programs that are to be deleted. Turn the calculator on and press 2nd, + (MEM), 2:Delete, 7:Prgm. This shows a list of all programs with the cursor pointed at the first one. Use the up- or down-arrow keys to place the cursor in front of the one you want to delete, then press DEL. The calculator will then ask if you're sure you want to delete, so press 2:Yes. Repeat for all programs that are to be deleted.

Public television broadcasting made its appearance in 1929 when the BBC started their first service from London. It was only a part time service and was just a single channel, delivering news and public information content for the first year or two. By the early 1930s they had moved on to entertainment as well as news.
In America, it took a little longer to start public broadcasting. Although there were several demonstrations, it wasn't until 1939 that RCA launched North America's first service.
Can you replace a CR2016 battery with a CR2032?
Both batteries are the same diameter and the same voltage. The CR2032 is twice as thick as the CR2016 and has a larger ah capacity. If the extra thickness is not a problem, the CR2032 will be a good replacement for the CR2016. Some mounting methods are thickness specific and others are not!

Where did electricity originate from?
Once there was a huge meteor that hit the earth. It killed all the dinosaurs and also made a large ammount of electricity. That electricity is the origin of all of the electricity on earth.
Do name brand batteries last longer than off brand batteries?
Brand names do not perform any better than cheaper brands. The only important factor in selecting batteries is that they are labeled as alkaline batteries and are not heavy duty. Heavy duty batteries are made poorly and don't last very long.
There were many inventions in the 1990's Infact it was a decade of important inventions.
The year 1990 itself led to one of the biggest inventions the world had seen The WWW or World Wide Web which was born under the brilliance of Tim Berners Lee.
1992 - Smart Pill was invented.
1994 - HIV Protease invented.
1996 - Web TV invented
1997 - The fuel cell was invented.
Where is the best place to buy a ps3?
A lot of places! You can buy it online, or you can go to your local Walmart or Kmart. You can also buy a ps3 80GB at pretty much any store that sells video games such as FYE, gamestop... ect.
How do you get your parents to get you a iPad?
if you don't have a computer, it can be used as a coomputer. it has a ton of education apps built to help u learn and study. it helps you become more organized because it comes with an application that allows you to jot dcown notes, and a great calendar that lets you input dates and important occasions. and its only 499 for the 16gb. which is pretty good for a laptop. it has 10 hours of battery too
Who invented the electrostatic generator?
Otto Von Guericke was one of the first to experiment with the concept of electricity and created a Madgeburg vacuum in 1663, which became known as the first electrostatic generator. The generator itself consisted of a rotating ball of sulfur. Rubbing the ball produced friction that converted into electrostatic energy.
Advantages of disadvantages of technology on environment?
In a technological environment, a lot can be achieved without the use of body strength. Technological environments are good for factory and production where there is a large quantity of similar items needed. Its disadvantages, however, include reduced productivity in case of power outages and sabotage. High technology environments also need proper training before work begins.
What are the differences between NiMH and NiCD batteries?
A nickel-metal hydride battery, abbreviated NiMH, is a type of rechargeable battery similar to a nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery but using a hydrogen-absorbing alloy for the negative electrode instead of cadmium. As in NiCd batteries, the positive electrode is nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH).
A NiMH battery can have two to three times the capacity of an equivalent size NiCd. However, compared to the lithium-ion battery, the volumetric energy density is lower and self-discharge is higher.
Common AA batteries (penlight-size) have nominal charge capacities (C) ranging from 1100 mA·h to 2700 mA·h at 1.2 V, usually measured at a discharge rate of 0.2×C per hour. Useful discharge capacity is a decreasing function of the discharge rate, but up to a rate of around 1×C (full discharge in one hour), it does not differ significantly from the nominal capacity.
The specific energy density for NiMH material is approximately 70 W·h/kg (250 kJ/kg), with a volumetric energy density of about 300 W·h/L (360 MJ/m³).
It is common to refer to most NiMH products as Batteries, even though the word Battery refers to the grouping of multiple cells. As a result sizes AA, AAA, C and D are technically Cells while the 9V size is a real battery.
The Clapper, was issued US Patent #5493618 on July 9, 1986 and first sold to the public on September 1, 1985.
Actually, the concept was invented in 1963 by Lee Boschen, though not patented. See his book, "Computer Circuit Projects you can build", Chapter 12 "The Sonolamp".
Several advantages to using a modular approach in programming?
Can you run a 220 volt single phase on 110 volt?
Technically, yes. Each wire will carry 110V measured to ground. However, you need a third wire for the earth ground from the panel to the device. An ungrounded circuit is not only against the Code, but is a real fire hazard.
Well, not exactly. Appliances that use 220 volts may have different phase current requirements. For example, your stove uses 220V directly for hi heat settings or broil elements, but uses 110v to neutral (NOT GROUND) for reduced heat settings and for timers and lights. the current inbalance then is accomodated by the nuetral wire (NOT the GROUND).
So typically, the 220v appliance has 2 HOT wires (the phase voltage), 1 neutral wire, and a ground wire.
When was the first dryer invented?
It depends what type of automatic washer/dryer you are considering. The automatic drop washer/dryer (where the washer is stacked on top of the dryer, a drop door is released and the clothes begin dry cycle automatically), was patented on July 28, 2008 Patent 7404303
