If you boil macaroni in colored water will it turn the macaroni that certain color?

Yes, if you boil macaroni in colored water, it will turn that color(although the macaroni won't be the exact color of the water).Me and my friend colored the water in the pot with blue and red food coloring. We made sure to use a generous amount, so that the macaroni was sure to absorb the moisture and get the color. When the macaroni came out of the water, it was a light(but noticable) pink/purple color. To us, it didn't seem to make much of a difference at first, but then we compared some regular macaroni to the macaroni cooked in the purple water, and it really worked! The macaroni actually changed colors.P.s. Yes I know I answered my own question, but that's because me and my friend experimented with it and we got a good answer so we wanted to SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!!!!

How do you cook a pie in an oven?

Cut long strips of tinfoil and place them around the edge of the pie.

This will prevent the crust's edge from burning while it bakes. You will want to take the tinfoil off about ten minutes before the pie is done. This way, the apple pie will have a golden brown edge.

Bake your pie at 400 degrees for 50-60 minutes.

hint: Place a cookie sheet covered in tinfoil on the lowest oven rack (not on the same rack as the pie) to prevent any overflow from reaching the bottom of the oven--easy cleanup!

How do you cook rice in a microvave oven?

Cooking rice in a microwave oven is dependent upon what type of rice is being cooked.

Instant Rice is the easiest, and generally has rules for microwave preparation on the box.

For regular rice, several factors must be taken into account: Type of rice (brown or white), the power of the microwave, and what type of rice you want to cook.

Things you will need:

  • Microwave Safe Container (1 quart or Larger)
  • Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Dry Measuring Cup
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Rice

First, Determine how much rice you wish to cook. For 1 cup of rice, you will need approximately 12 - 16 ounces of water.

Microwave the water alone for 2-3 minutes, uncovered, taking care not to burn yourself when you remove it from the microwave.

Add 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and stir until completely dissolved.

Add 1 cup of rice. and stir for 1 minute, being sure that all grains are wet.

Place a loose covering over the bowl ( paper towels will do) and microwave for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring every 3-4 minutes. Take care not to burn yourself with the steam.

Let the rice sit inside the microwave after the microwave has stopped running for 3 to 5 minutes.

Whole grain rice may take longer, and you may have to add more water.

All times and measurements are approximate, based upon type of rice (whole grain takes longer), oven wattage, and preference of "dry" versus "moist" rice.

Cooking substitute for port?

Port is a Spanish /Portuguese wine That is much sweeter than most other red wines. For this reason Port can enpart a "sweetness" to a dish that a red table wine cannot. Port "reductions" are found in a lot of dessert applications... I would say an adequate substitute for port used for cooking would be adding sugar to any dark red table wine (cabernet savignon, shiraz, chianti, merlot, etc.)... 1 cup Port = 1 cup red table wine(+2 Tbsp sugar)...

How long should you parboil chicken leg quarters for grilling?

It is not necessary to parboil chicken, whether whole or parts, before grilling. But if you do choose to parboil it first, you can boil it until it's fully cooked, then grill on high heat until it's the color and outer texture you want. Or you can parboil it until it's about halfway done, then finish cooking on the grill. You can add seasonings to the water when parboiling to give it extra flavor, whether you parboil it till done, or parboil it only part done.
