Remove the drive shaft. Mark the relationship of the pinion nut to the pinion gear. This is necessary to maintain pinion bearing preload. Remove the nut. Remove the flange. Pry out and replace the seal. Reinstall in reverse order being sure realign the marks that were previously made. Check gear oil level and add as necessary.

if disk is a rear disk, the park brake is inside the disk and you will need to use a hammer to tap on disk to remove it. once the wheels are off there are only a couple of clips on some of the wheek studs to keep disk in place. the disk is actually held to vehicle with the wheel and lug nuts

My guess is it will causes the engine to surge and change engine speed up and down over and over because the ECU (computer) is searching for the right idle speed, but the bad sensor isn't sending the signal. It could also possibly cause the engine to just idle at a higher speed than normal.

the solonoid is located inside the transmission, once the pan is removed i believe that it is located on the passenger side close to the front. I would find exact instructions but the back yard mechanic can do this with basic tools. If you're interested it shouldn't be too hard to pull the pan and look (only 2 solonoids inside with electrical connections - 1 for converter and 1 for o/d).
