First you want to smoke test the evap system to find were the problem really is . On a 97 Stratus with a 2.5 motor the charcoal box and purge valve is located under the passenger fender right next to the wiper fluid container.

At the end of the posative battery cable. Not real hard but label the wires when you remove then to make sure thy go back where they came from.

The starter is located on the front of the engine behind the header, and below the air intake, it should be fairly easy to see from from above looking by down into the gaps in the header. I'm not entirely sure it's necessary to label the wires before you remove them, there are only 2, and it would be pretty hard to mix them up since one ends in a large ring terminal and the other ends in a rectangular plug. NOTE: Before you try to replace your starter disconnect BOTH cables from your battery. (located in front of the front driver side wheel in a small compartment, you will have to remove the tire to get to it.) It's a fairly simple job, just disconnect the wires from the starter. The next step is removing the retaining bolts which can be kind of difficult since you pretty much can't see the bolts you're working on, (most 95-00 2.4L stratus have only two, I believe they're 10mm) but once you get them moving it should go smoothly, and once they're out you can slide out the old starter, slide in the new one, and reverse the process. .

Hey Mike==It can but why guess. Go to Auto zone and have them check it our for free and you will know what is causing the light to come on. You can clean 02's but be sure the carb cleaner you use has NO silicone as it will ruin it for sure. GoodluckJoe

You will need to replace your starter, this happened with my car a couple days ago, I brought it into the shop, got the starter replaced and the fuse does not blow anymore. It happens because the starter draws to many Amps of electricity due to age, amount of use etc.

Cars don't charge alternators; alternators charge cars. If your new alternator isn't charging, it could be your battery is bad or your battery connections are corroded. Another thing it might be is your voltage regulator. Many alternators come with built-in voltage regulators, but if your system has a standalone v.r., it could be bad too. Finally, if your 'new' alternator is actually a refurbished or rebuilt one, it could be a bad rebuild. It happens.

Bleeding Process 1. Begin at the corner furthest from the driver and proceed in order toward the driver. (Right rear, left rear, right front, left front.) While the actual sequence is not critical to the bleed performance it is easy to remember the sequence as the farthest to the closest. This will also allow the system to be bled in such a way as to minimize the amount of potential cross-contamination between the new and old fluid. 2. Locate the bleeder screw at the rear of the caliper body (or drum brake wheel cylinder.) Remove the rubber cap from the bleeder screw

Check your coolant level, If low you need to find the leak.

cam position sensor has failed

Code 54-No cam signal at the PCM-No camshaft position sensor signal detected during engine cranking.

There are a few things that it could be if you Dodge Stratus wont start on first try. It could be the starter.

if starter is turning but not cranking engine, u need to replace starter or starter solenoid and yes i have had a starter go out just like that and when mine went out i was 90 miles from a new one had to get a buddy bring one out
