What is a welding transformer?

A welding transformer is an electrical transformer used in welding power supply.

It pulls relatively low current drawn from the mains power (typically limited to 15 A to avoid tripping the circuit breaker) and converts it to the typical 50 A to 500 A used in arc welding and higher currents used in spot welding. The main difference between a Normal Step Down Transformer & a Welding transformer , is Not only to Step Down ( lower ) the outlet supply voltage and at the same time increase the Available Output Circuit Current, but to be also able withstand the Short Circuit Conditions on the Welding Output Side and especially for the Magnetic ( Iron Lamination Core ) Part of the Transformer. This Magnetic Path difference prevents the Supply side Electrical Circuit from Oveloading , espcially during the Striking of the Arc, when the Welding Electrode & the Welding Job touch to initiate an Arc, after which the Welding Electrode is lifted slightly by Experience, to maintain the required weld flow. A Normal Transformer of equivalent rating will not be able witstand this operation without burning out.

Why do computers need to run on DC?

Digital devices deal with logic levels, you need a steady (DC) voltage to represent a 1 and another steady voltage to represent a 0. Power is used each time a level changes.

AC is constantly changing, and is defined by a peak voltage and a frequency, so a single voltage reading is meaningless. For example a house outlet could be 140V one time then -30V, etc (120V outlet swings between -170V and 170V)

How do you hook up a stereo system to a TV?

using a/v cables and connecting them color coordinatingly.

What does 'Media Write Protected' mean?

Storage devices such as floppy disks, cassette tapes, Video tapes, and SD cards for cameras often have a 'write protection' facility available. So you can't accidentally write over some precious data that you'd previously recorded. For a most of the above, it will be a small blanking hole. For an SD card, it is a small slider.

When you get the above message, it means that the blanking / slide switch is in the 'protect' position.

If my 320 gb laptop hard drive has 255 heads how many platters does it have?

It doesn't really have 255 heads. It most probably has one platter and two heads, at most.

You see, most HDDs today (anything newer than, say, 1998?) use LBA - that's Logical Block Addressing. It's a matter of simplicity, because new disks use something called zone bit recording, which means that on each given track, the further away from the center, the more sectors there are.

You see, disks can be addressed either physically (by mapping exactly one sector to a C/H/S position), or logically.

C/H/S, which stands for Cylinder/Head/Sector, is hanging around from the old MFM disks and DOS days, when disks were addressed physically. Physically here means that there was no translation to actual locations - BIOS handled the disk I/O. Unfortunately, this separation, combined with BIOS's inherent 16-bit-ness has quickly developed into a problem when new disks of great capacities (above 4GB) could not be addressed in this manner. They still can't be, to be honest, and the information given to BIOS is a bit pro-forma in that it doesn't tell the whole story. DOS programs can still access a PORTION of the space that way, but in order for the operating system to use the full space available, it has to understand LBA or access the hardware directly (which most OSes, Windows included, do).

So, again, these values have no real meaning. They certainly don't describe the physical properties of the disk. You see, there are up to two heads for any given platter, and as such, Your disk would have to have 128 platters! They're about 1mm thick, and with the heads in place, they take up some 5-6mm. That way, the disk would have to be some 77cm thick! No, these numbers are provided so that the BIOS and old (legacy) DOS programs can still make some use of the disk at all.

Keep in mind that this information is STILL used today, mostly by OS loaders like NTLDR, which need to only access a very small portion of space at the beginning of the disk. There resides a program that can take care of LBA addressing from that point. This is so that BIOS can handle calling the operating system starting procedure even with these limitations in place.

Potential risk for a pillar drill?

Im assuming you mean something on the lines of 'What hazards/ risks does the use of a pillar drill introduce?'

Bit can grab work peice and spin it round - could cause lacerations or possibly break bones.

Swarf (material drilled out) can be thrown up in air or spun round and hit fingers whilst holding work peice. Can be serious if goes in eye. Worst in metal.

Drill bit could break / shatter, fragments could hit you.

Clothing or jewlerry could get caught in bit/ chuck which could pull you againt the cutting edge.

Possible risk to hearing if it is loud.

Risk of electrocution if not properly earthed

If device isn't stable/ fixed, it could fall over.

How do you kill a brachiosaurus in iPad game carnivores?

You can't, even if you shoot it enough times to deplete it's health, it has no death animation. Therefore, it is un-killable. So even if you shoot all your ammo at it, including the resupply, it's no good. I've tried multiple times...

What is the importance of fan-in on the operation of logic gate?

Fan-in is the max number of inputs a gate can take. Consequently, its importance depends on the type of application. A single gate with large fan-in can realize a logic function with many input variables as opposed to the other kind which might require more than one which causes its own problems like 0 or 1 hazards and increased gate delays..

What happens if you format an External Memory Card?

A memory card will be formatted to the system you format it on. The card will only work with the system it is formatted to, you may or may not get an error when you use a system that is not formatted to. Generally, it doesn't do much but some systems require formatting. Most times it erases all data, and replaces it with formatted files

How do you fix your psp's Pandora battery?

Here's all the info that the other sellers are trying to sell you. What they don't want you to know is that it's all available freely on the internet. First, some basic facts: 1. The Pandora Battery is actually a combination of specially-modified PSP battery, and specially-modified PSP pro duo memory stick. 2. It allows you to unbrick, or downgrade, ANY PSP, regardless of current firmware, as many times as you like. 3. Although you can convert the Pandora Battery back to an ordinary battery, you're recommended to use a spare battery, as it is more convenient and flexible. 4. To make a Pandora Battery, you need a homebrew-capable PSP. If you don't have a homebrew-capable PSP, you should find a friend who does, or use the information below to find someone who can make a battery for you, for free. So how do you get started? 1. Click here for the original release article, that contains links to download all of the software that you could need. 2. Here's a set of lists of volunteers who will unbrick, downgrade or make a Pandora Battery for you for free, or a minimal donation: 1. Via the Noobz Forums 2. Is 4 kv and 30 ma be lethal from dry hand to hand?

30 ma will not hurt you but 4 kv or 4000 volts will certainly kill you for it will push far more than 30 ma through your body-wet or dry!

<<>>

Taking any amount of AC voltage from hand to hand is dangerous. This is because the path the voltage takes is across the chest in the location of your heart. Small voltages can stop the heart from beating.

Milliamps are dangerous and will hurt you as shown below;

Less than 1/2 milliamp no sensation

1/2 to 2 milliamps Threshold of perception

2 to 10 milliamps muscular contraction

5 to 25 milliamps painful shock (may not be able to let go)

Over 25 milliamps Could be violent muscular contraction

50 to 100 milliamps Ventricular fibrillation

over 100 paralysis of breathing.
