How do you Reset service reminder clock on 2000 vw polo?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Setting the Clock on a PoloHere are recommendations and suggestions from FAQ Farmers:
  • On the 2003 you have the tripometer reset button on the dash under the speedometer. If you twist it left, the minutes will alter and right for the hours. I only realized this myself earlier today.
  • If you look at the clock face you'll see that not all the screws are screws, I think two of them you can depress with a pen or similar to change the time.

What to do if you put petrol into a diesel car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I very recently did this so have done a lot of research - my car is still outside waiting for me to put it right. It all seems to depend on who you ask. Many people will tell you that you need to drain the whole system etc etc. However, I have asked a few mechanics and it all depends upon how much petrol you have added. I am told that in cold countries drivers add petrol to diesel to prevent waxing - as long as it is less than 10% petrol to diesel it is OK. I put 7 litres of petrol in a diesel engine. The AA told me I had to have it drained completely, flushed and bled. I could not afford all this so topped it up with diesel and drove it home (about 2 K). Local mechanics told me to dilute it as much as pos and drive it but keep diluting it. I am not taking any chances. i am going to syphon off as much of the petrol and diesel mix as possible and fill it with pure diesel thereby avoiding the very large garage fees involved in drainage, flushing and bleeding. If people add a 10% mix i am sure I can get it down to less than this and it will be OK. I am sorry this is not a more informed answer but after asking a lot of people it is the best I can come up with. Best of luck.

What could be the problem on a 1993 730 BMW after you change the battery it still wont start without a jump?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The problem could be a number of things. One is that the new battery you installed is faulty and you would need a new battery. i would have a professional check your battery, starting and charging components on your car and make sure they are within spec. If they are all good then I would check for a battery draw on the car. This can be an extremely difficult and expensive problem to find; Suggest having certified BMW service done at this point. Make sure you have all aftermarket electrical stuff disconnected: no aftermarket radio, buzz detectors, nothing, not even anything in your cigarette lighter.

How do you start a warm fuel injection engine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

DO NOT try and try again. This leads to a dead battery and/or flooded engine.

Instead, try lightly tapping the accelerator pedal ONCE while cranking the engine. If that doesn't work:

Something is broken. Get it to a mechanic who can understand what is wrong.

Why is electric fan related to physics?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

An electric fan is an electric motor with some fan blades attached to its rotating shaft. As the motor spins, the fan blades rotate. Each blade is angled a bit, and as the inclined plane of the blade moves through the air, it forces the air ahead of it forward. Each blade does this on a continuous basis, and the result is a moving air stream. The fan is taking air from the area behind itself and blowing it out the front. The fan generates a movement of air, causing the warm, less dense air to rise, and the cool, dense air to descend, thus creating a feeling of coolness in the air.

How many cc's are in a 1.8 liter engine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hi, A cc is a cubic centimeter and is equivalent to the volume of 1 milliliter at 22 degrees Celcius. Therefore in a perfect world, a 1.8 Liter engine will displace 1,800 ccs. Remember, that seldom does the engine exacly displace the stated Liter size. Your actual vehicle specifications (found in your manual) may be slightly less that the advertised engine liter size. They round the liter size to make it easier for the consumer to understand. Hope this helps.

Is it best to make cars from Aluminum or Steel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would suggest that Aluminum is preferable. It is lighter than steel, which can result in a higher performance vehicle (faster acceleration, better braking, improved fuel economy). Furthermore, unlike steel, aluminum will not rust. Aluminum is also easier to recycle. Aluminum cars have a stiffer feel- giving them a sportier feel, and absorb impact about 1.5 times as well as steel, making them safer. The downside, of course, is the high cost of aluminum compared to steel.

How do you check shocks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Simplest way is to push down on your car's body above one of the wheels as hard as you can, and then let go. The car should rebound pretty quickly into place without a lot of bouncing or rolling around. If your car seems to bounce around more than once or twice, chances are your shocks are either gone or on their way out. At that point, unless you're mechanically inclined, it's best to take it to the shop to have them professionally inspected or replaced. It's a relatively inexpensive job and can increase your vehicle's safety, performance and ride comfort.
