Should you eat dairy products and eggs if you have fever?

NO! Never eat any dairy products when you have a fever. I have a fever right now, I vomited because I ate dairy. So, do not eat anything with any dairy in. Also, avoid acidic foods or drinks such as orange juice or lemon juice, as these will make your stomach acids way too acidic, and cause vomiting. The foods I have been eating are plain slices of bread, 7 up (lemonade) and I would suggest eating chicken noodle soup. Also, Lemonade does contain lemon juice, but not enough to cause acidity. Don't take any cold baths or showers as the cold from the bath/shower trap all the heat in, so the outside of your body is cold, and the inside is hot. It is OK to take the occasional warm bath or shower, but I wouldn't have them too much. Also, when drinking lemonade, try to take short and slow sips. I don't know about eggs but I would stay away from them as the smell can make you nauseous sometimes. Try not to eat too much while you have fever because you have to let your body cope with the virus you have, and eating uses energy for your digestive system to work which makes your body concentrate more on digesting than fighting the virus. When you have fever it is your body trying to fight off a virus, so your body increases the temperature as your white bloods cells work better in hot temperatures. I hope this helped, and get well soon! P.S - Do not have any dairy products.

Why does rubbing alcohol reduce fevers?

Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, and is poisonous if ingested, (the alcohol you can drink safely is ethanol, a different chemical compound). Rubbing alcohol cools the skin by convection, as the alcohol evaporates it carries the heat away from the body with it, just like perspiration, only faster.

Cooling of the body with alcohol will help in reducing a fever, but should only be done when the body temperature is dangerously high, 104-105 or greater. It is best to supplement this cooling with effective medicines like ibuprofen, aspirin (not for young children), or acetaminophen, these take longer to work, but their effect lasts longer.

Severely elevated body temperature can cause seizures and/or brain damage in children, if they have a fever that is greater than 104 degrees and does not respond to treatment should be addressed by a physician.
