Flats and Tire Pressure

Look on the side of one of the tires. In amongst all the writing you will find there is the 'maximum load range'. This is for a certin pressure. That pressure is the best pressure to fill the tire to. Many tires are designed to be run at 35 pounds per square inch, but there are others which specify 44 pounds, and some which require only 32 pounds. Check the tire, and use a gauge to insure proper inflation. Improper inflation will result in excessive wear and tire failure.

My 1999 Passat GLS (with V6) says:

Half Load: "Under 100 MPH 29 Front/28 Rear; Over 100 MPH 32 Front/29 Rear"

Max Load: "Under 100 MPH 32 Front/41 Rear; Over 100 MPH 36 Front/44 Rear"

P.S. The Tire Pressure Label is on the inside of the Fuel Door.

max Load: 30 front/39 rear

Proper tire pressure is found embossed on the sidewall of the tire itself.

Unfortunatly it is not on the tire, the tire says to check owners manual for correct tire pressure, which is often the case with low pressure tires. I have a Clymer manual and it has a misprint showing the lug nuts for the tire pressure...very frustrating!!

I had my Team Dynamics 18inch with 225/45/18 filled with helium and it was remarkable,it was if the car was floating,lighter on steering and ask yourself why do F1 cars use it.I also had Tyre Sure sensors and digital display telling me tyre presser and temp and found they warmed up quicker than just air.

It is written in small print on the SIDE of the tire.

If you mean the light it should reset itself while driving

Depends on the tyre size. For 13" Tyres use 30 PSI. Ive seen 16" tyres use 32 PSI so around 31 PSI for 14 or 15 inch tyres.

Front and rear tires 30 PSI as indicated on sticker on glove compartment.

Are you talking about 18 and 24 inch tires(the rubber part only) or wheels(the metal piece that the tire is mounted to, commonly refered to as the "rim")? I will assume you are talking about wheel size. The main concern here is that the overall tire diameter is the same. As long as the diameters are the same, it wouldn't be a problem to TEMPORARILY use your stock spare. If they have different diameters, you SHOULD NOT use the 18"spare as it will cause a difference in the final drive ratio between two tires on the same axle which will, in turn, cause serious problems with your drivetrain. If you need help figuring out the diameter of your 24" vs 18" please post more info including tire size(tire size is molded into the sidewall of the tire and should read like this: P265/70-R17) and make and model of vehicle.

The proper pressure for you vehicle's tires will be listed on the label on the driver side door jamb.

The maximum pressure is on the side of the tire. The recommended pressure depends on the vehicle you are putting the tire on. Look in Owner's Manual or on label that is located on driver's side door jamb.

It makes no difference if you have 16", 17", or 18" wheels. The correct tire pressure is the same for all of these sizes. The correct pressure is listed in your owners manual and on the drivers door post.

Assuming a tyre profile of something like 205/45/17 i'd suggest 32psi is what you should use. The lower the profile, the higher the psi otherwise you risk buckling the rim on a pothole.

Other factors to consider include the original rim size, and the weight distribution of your car. Big powerful cars, or diesels usually require slightly higher pressures on the front wheels, ie 33 or 34psi

if you recently replaced, charged, or "boosted" your battery, similiar problems like this, i have yet to find an answer on how to fix it other then takeing it to a dealer and have them restore your vehicles configuration.

No, it did not come with them 10 years ago when it was new.

If you're running offroad mud then about 21. Snow trails lower. Street about 35 or what ever is the best comfort for you.

Most likely under-inflated tire

10 deg F of air temp will change the press in a tire approx 1 psi
