Get a Haynes Repair Guide at an auto parts store. It's only $20 and is well worth it. If you have the ZX2 the engine has to be pulled from the car to replace the oil pump. Beyond the scope of the everyday mechanic. Jsut by the fact that you have to ask how it is done it is evident that it is beyond your capabilities. I am not trying to offend you. I just replaced the tail light bulb on my 2003 Elantra, so it may be the same for a 2001 model.

Open the trunk and open the cloth/plastic access cover found behind the tail light assembly. It is wedged in using flaps on three of the sides, but the fourth side is riveted to the trunk liner, so leave it attached on that side. It's flexible enough to act as a hinge and allow the cover to swing open.

You should see the ends of three bolts sticking through the metal part of the trunk. Remove the nuts from the bolts with a 5/16" wrench or socket. There is also a rubber socket that holds a metal post from the assembly, but you do not need to do anything with it, the post just slides out of the socket when you remove the assembly.

Gently pull the assembly away from the car, it may stick a little at first, but don't pull too hard, because the assembly is still wired to the car for power and you don't want to yank the wires out. Locate the back of the dead bulb's socket, and turn the socket until you can pull it out of the assembly. Rotate the bulb to remove it from the socket, and rotate the new bulb back in. Now that you know how to take it apart, just reverse the steps to put the assembly back onto the car.

"Your two most obvious answers would be either a bad thermostat, or a bad water pump." These are two possible problems. Does the car only over heat when idling in traffic for instance? If so does turning on the A/C make it cool down? If this the case you may have a bad fan switch which is actually more likely. A bad fan switch will not turn on the electric cooling fan when it should. Turning on the A/C forces the fan to come on regardless of what input the fan switch is giving.

now the idle speed control valve might be stuck , so you can remove it and clean it up with some carb cleaner and wd40 , it is located underneath the throttle body

The cam shaft sensor on a 1999 ford escort is on the intake side of the engine just below the intake manifold. The intake manifold has to come off to take the CS sensor off.

I do not know of any freon diagrams. I would not recommend trying to charge your air conditioning sytem; it is very complex and the system is under high pressure. Take your car to a professional.

1. Locate the switch near the top of the brake pedal and disconnect the electical connector.

2. Loosen the switch lock nut and unscrew the switch from the bracket.

3. Installation is the reverse of these steps.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch. Loosen the switch lock nut and turn the switch until its plunger is clear of the brake pedal.

5. Loosen the lock nut on the pedal push rod. Turn the push rod to bring pedal height to 7.6 inches.

6. Turn the brake light switch clockwise until its plunger touches the brake pedal, then turn it one half turn more and tighten its lock nut.

There is no such thing as self adjusting valves. There is however, Hydraulic Lifters; The lifters run on the cam and work the push-rods. Hydraulic lifters are "kind of" self adjusting. It's only within a certain range and you have to get them close. A hydraulic lifter has four parts; the body, the plunger, small (internal) spring, and a retaining clip. If you look at the side of one, you will notice that there is a small hole. It's through this hole that oil is fed under pressure!
