I have a 1992 Escort, and it starts doing that right around the time it needs its 30,000 mile check-up.

Here is what you do, Step 1 fill your gas tank. Step 2 Reset the trip odometer Step 3 drive the car Step 4 when you need gas fill your tank. Step 5 write down how many miles you drove and the gallons you just put into the tank. Step 6 divide the miles by how many gallons and that's miles per gallon. for your car only. it should get somewhere in the range of 25 city 30 highway

It could be that there is a vacuum leak which is making the mixture too lean to keep the engine running or it could be a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) which compensates for an added load at idle. Take the IAC off and clean it with some carbureter cleaner then oil it up. It's right on top of the throttle body. It looks like a small motor with a couple of wires running into it. Use an 8 MM socket to take the 2 screws out.

It is the switch on top of your brake pedal arm. It is a push button switch that pushes out when you push on the pedal, Same thing happened to my car and ran the battery down. All you need to do is adjust. Just take a wrench and loosen the nut holding it on and set it to where the button is all the way in when the pedal is at rest. It won't take much and it should work ok again.

replace ignition there not hard and take about 30 min to an hour to change, they even come with instructions on how th replace them in the box the come in. advance auto parts carry them so do napa all the major part dealers, or u could spend the extra money and just call a locksmith and explain what happen to them. the only down fall about replaceing the ignition with a new is you will have a diffrent key to open the car and a diffrent one to start the car.

Yes. Recommend getting a adjustable cam gear. You can delete the VCT solenoid correctly later with a delete kit. ZXTuner.com sells both cam gears and VCT delete kits.

It doesn't have a fuse, it has a fuse link, which looks just like a reular wire, but it is made to burn internally. It is one of the fuse links in a bundle of fuse links on the left fender skirt area near the starter relay. You test a fuse link by tugging on it. If it puls apart fairly easily, it is blown.

you need to take out the cross bar on the frame of the car, its three bolts you might need to cut them off and replace them

Yes it does. It is on the intake side under the cylinder head below the intake plenum. You have to take the intake manifold off to get to it.

You have to remove the gas tank. The fuel pump is inside the gas tank. There is a locking ring on the top of the tank just remove it and you will then have direct access to the fuel pump.
