Where is the headlight fuse box on a 1992 Ford Festiva?

I have a 1992 Fored Festiva. My fuse box is on the lower left-hand side of the plastice casing. It's left of the steering wheeel and is easily accessible. You should see many fuses and a brief description of each one. E.g - "Lamps" and the amps may be 15 or 20. The fuse box opens readily, no special tools needed.

Ford Festiva runs fine in park but stalls when you put it in drive?

Possibly, an air intake issue... Check your air system, mainly the hose/pipe coming from your airflow meter for cracks etc, when moving from park to drive, the jolt can be enough to largen a crack and cause air to be sucked through and bypass the flow meter, stalling the engine... this may be worsened if you have a faulty engine mount...

Hope this helps!

Where is the fuel pump inertia switch on an Ford Festiva?

On my 1991 fuel injected Festiva the fuel pump inertia switch is located inside the panel at the rear driver's side. Lift the rear hatch and look to the left where the seat belt attaches and the speaker is located. There is supposed to be a small panel (2 or 3 inches square). My panel is missing and there is just an opening. You can see the top of the inertia switch with a red button. If you need to replace it or get to the entire switch you must remove that entire panel. It only takes about 10 minutes to remove that panel.

How do you install front brake pads for a 1992 Ford Festiva?

Once you take the caliper off , you will need a C-clamp to compress the piston back into the caliper .

Make sure you leave the old pad on top of the piston to help it go straight back into the housing , be careful and do not let the piston go in crooked , it will get stuck .

You may also need to get a small kit , that has the little springs that hold the retaining pins in , if you break one .

Installing wheel bearing in a Ford Festiva is simple but will take some time. All you have to do is take the hub off, take out the tie rod and then take out the wheel bearing from the hub.

Where is the thermostat located in a 1989 Ford Festiva?

There is a black rubber hose about 1 1/2" in diameter attached to the top part of the radiator. On the other end of that hose is an aluminum "gooseneck" fitting that bolts on to the Head with two bolts. The Thermostat is inside that "gooseneck". Be careful, it's fragile. You should use a new gasket when replacing the "gooseneck" back on the Head.

Obtain the correct trans filter from your dealer; bring in your VIN code from you dash. Obtain a large drain pan. Raise car safely on a level surface. Begin removing trans bolts slowly and as pan lowers it will drain( most pans do not have a drain plug; if yours does--great). Clean the pan install filter ( easy)& install gasket but use NO gasket sealer( can get into valve body) tighen bolts add trans fluid, start car, top off the fluid but don't over fill.Done> I hope this helps you. If a car sputters when it accelerates there may be a problem with the ignition. Another option is that the timing belt is malfunctioning.

Not sure what a hard code 8 means for a Festiva, but you can probably find a Haynes or Chilton Manual at your local library and get some understanding of the problem - whether you try to fix it yourself or have a mechanic fix the problem. I had a similar problem with a 1987 Cavalier and it turned out to be a bad catalytic converter. - Good luck. have you tried changing the spark plugs?

How do you lubricate the speedo cable on a 1996 Ford Festiva?

In the engine compartment, there is a joint in the cable that requires a 12mm and 19mm open ended spanner to undo. Then pull out the whole cable, grease, wipe off excess, then gently push the cable back. Do up the screw and gently tighten with the 12mm and 19mm spanners.

What is the gearbox oil capacity of a Ford Festiva?

for a wb 95 festiva 5 speed manual it is 2.5 litres. Dextron 3 or VMX80. (I was told dextron 3 even tho its a manual)

i asked a work colleague (mechanic for 30 years) about this (i have a 1996 WB Festiva) and he said Dexron 3 is used as the gears in the gearbox are fairly small/fine so it needs a nice thin lubricant, whereas if VMX80 gear oil is used, on cold statup, it may be too thick and make gear selection very difficult until the oil heats up and thins a bit. He also said that you can combine the two with no ill effect, e.g 70% Dexron 3 and 30% VMX80 to provide excellent cold start driveablilty with some added protection of the VMX for thwhen the oils heat up.

Where do you top up gearbox in a manual Ford Festiva 1992 i was told it was through the speedo caple hole but doesnt seem right as the hole is very small and no flow?

The speedo hole is where you do it. Read the manual! Remove the 10mm bolt holding the speedo sending unit in the trans and there is a nice big hole for you to fill the trans.

Removing transmission on Ford Festiva?

engine must be removed from the car. that requires removal of all electrical connectors, both half-shafts(from axles), 2 fuel lines, vaccum line from brake booster and from top of throttle body, main air tube from air box(where air filter is changed), air box must be removed as well as radiator, and battery holder, and exaust manifold from the exaust pipe.

4 bolts hold engine to the car, and for manual transmission, shifter and stabilizer bar.

once engine is removed from car, 4 main bolts, 2 minor bolts, and 4 tiny bolts hold transmission to block. 4 tiny bolts hold on the dust shield( thin plate attached to block), 2 minor bolts, 1 on each side attached to brackets on the block, then 4 large bolt, 2 near the head come out toward the transmission as well as 1 lower rear bolt. final large bolt comes out toward the exaust manifold and is on the lower front. removal of the starter is required to remove the upper rear main bolt and it has 2 bolts(to transmission) and 2 nuts (for the bottom bracket of the starter. without more info, this is the best i can offer, ...{ASMDEMON}
