How do you open the hood on your 95 GMC Jimmy when the hood latch cable is broken?
There are at least a couple ways of getting the hood open. For either method you should look at another GM latch for reference. The latch on my "88" Chevy van is the same thing. I used that for my reference. If you look at the latch you will see two 8mm bolts facing forward and slightly down. If you can get enough of a gap between the hood and grill open enough to see these bolts, you may be able to get them out with a 13mm socket which will allow the hood with the latch to be raised as much as the cable will allow. If this is enough to reach the latch, you should be able open it. This is how I got mine open. Once you get to the latch, you find the lever at the bottom that the cable is hooked to. You move it to the right as the cable would pull it. This releases the primary part of the latch. Now the lever has to back to the left to finish the release. This is where my problem was. The latch was so stiff the spring to push the lever to the left could not do the job. I had to push the lever back with a screwdriver to get it to release. I thought my cable was bad but it was OK. Once I got the latch out it took almost a half hour to get the latch moving freely enough to allow the spring to push the lever back.
If you cannot get the bolts out of the latch, get a piece of stiff rod,(I used 3/16 dia) bend a tight 90 at the end and practice on the reference latch to get the feel of releasing the latch and then try it.
Good Luck
I would assume the '92 GMC S-15 is the same. The grill comes off quite easily even with the hood closed. There are 4 small Torx screws across the top barely accessible just under the lip of the hood. Additionally there are 4 in the grill slats themselves. Be careful; they are easy to drop into wherever lost screws go. When the grill is loose, it can be removed by deflecting the top down to fit it out under the hood lip. It has to bend some but not near breaking. When the top of the grill is out, it simply lifts off two posts at the bottom corners. Be careful of the wires to the marker lights; just remove the sockets and let them hang.
Once the grill is out, you can see and access the release and release the latch. This might be possible without removing the grill but must be done blind from the bottom. The trick is to push a super heavy spring like loop to the right. This loop is the foremost part of the latch mechanism and is less than 1/4" in diameter. The cable points right at it. Imagine continuing to the left (passenger US) beyond where the cable disappears into the latch mechanism in the direction the cable is going when it goes into the latch mechanism. It would come out right in the front and that is where the tight loop in the strong spring that is the hood latch is. Push that loop right (toward driver). If you try it blind; slide a screwdriver from left to right across the front of the mechanism a little higher than the cable which you can see. A little press and release down on the hood will help. The hood will release, fix the cable or jury rig a release wire and you're done.
In my case the cable had simply slipped out of the loop and the latch moved freely. It was easy to get back in and then I closed the loop down a little with vice-grips so the cable couldn't slip out again. Don't forget the lights on reassembly. Incidentally both of mine were burnt out.
Why Would a GMC Jimmy 2001 Run out of GAs and then completely lose power?
Fuel filter may be clogged. Replace the fuel filter.
Where is the Fuel pump in a 91 GMC S15 Jimmy?
The full pump is in the tank an can be reached by lowering the tank or by raising the bed of the truck and is under the tank cap on the top of the tank.
How do you remove the steering wheel in 1995 Chevy truck to fix horn.?
i don't have a 1995, but most horns work the same way. the horn itself is actually in the engine compartment. only the switch is connected to the steering wheel, and you shouldn't have to remove the wheel to work on that.
the horn "switch" is basically a metal-to-metal contact switch separated by a spring. one side is a fixed ring which is bolted under the steering wheel nut, the other side would be attached to the steering wheel cover. when you press on the steering wheel ctr you compress the spring so that the two pieces make contact, effectively closing the circuit. (again yours may or may not be the same)
its unlikely that the switch mechanism is faulty, i would start at the horn itself. if you don't know what an automobile horn looks like you may have trouble locating it. if that is the case i would suggest you go to the auto parts store and ask to look at one so you at least have an idea what you are looking for. (heck, while you're there they might even locate it for you.) in any case its probably located somewhere directly behind the grill area in front of the radiator.
hope that helps.
How do you bleed the heater core?
If by "bleed" you mean drain, disconnect the lower of the two hoses (do not confuse with the pipes from the AC evaporator) and drain the coolant into a bucket. If you are flushing the system (which you should if you are changing the coolant anyway), dont bother draining it, most of the coolant will flow out anyway, just do the coolant flush and fill from the radiator.
Where is the the starter switch located on 1995 gmc jimmy?
on the side of the steering column you put your key in it and turn
they sale hinge kits, and i talked to my buddy and there is a stand that sits under the door and holds it in place while you work on it.
Why does your 2001 GMC Jimmy smell like burning rubber near tires whenever you stop?
See if the smell comes more from one wheel or all four. Also, check that the tire size is correct and that you have driven at least 2000 miles since any brake work. Check that tires are not touching any mudflaps or fender skirts or brake hoses. Ask question providing answers to these and other exciting questions.
How do you change a fuel injector on a 1995 GMC Jimmy?
You must open the clam-shell intake manifold and there you will find the injector system. You should replace the entire system as it has many issues and can be acquired at "Dr. Injector" on the web. It is about $180.00. Additionaly, the intake manifold gasgets on these cars were not good and even worse, the original factory anitfreeze damaged them further. So it wouild be a good idea to pull the entire plenum and do that work also. There are many Jimmy discussion boards on both of these issues.

What the best body lift for 95 jimmy that will fit 31 105015?
You should never install a body lift of more than 2". You should be able to fit that size tire without a lift, just be sure you have proper backspacing on your wheels. If you still want a body lift I suggest going with a one inch. even with a 3 inch body lift they will still rub
No such thing as a free wiring diagram. Not one that you would trust anyway.
http://free-auto-repair-advice.blogspot.com/2007/11/finding-repair-information-you-need-at.html
It is one of the O2 sensors. Most parts houses around my part of the country will check the codes and tell you which one is the problem child for free. Unless your tranny is shifting funny, in other words, if it is working correctly, then it is probably not a fuse issue. Sensor itself may be bad, but all the sensors of my 97 jimmy were throwing codes when I first got it. Disconnected all the plugs to them one at a time and wire brushed what I could get to. Used dielectric grease when I plugged them back up. Reset the computer and the codes have not come back. I have noticed that most of the codes I get are just corrosion of the plugs. Make it a routine. If you unplug, clean and grease the fitting before replugging.
How do you turn off the ABS light on 2001 GMC Sonoma?

Why might the headlights in a 1999 gmc jimmy be flickering?
I have the same problem w/my 2001 and it seems a lot of the problems can be traced back to the ignition switch, or the turn signal switch/lever(cruse,turn signal arm off the steering column). It seems that both are "lubricated" during manufacturing and eventually leak which attracts 'gunk' internally and causes problems with the electrical connections. I have not attempted to replace these myself, but many have and said it solved all their problems. Of course you are driving a Jimmy and if you are not mechanically inclined, you soon will be and/or your wallet will be empty. I am simply amazed that they mass produced these vehicles under the name of Blazer/Jimmy/Oldsmobile, knowing they had serious problems. In most of these post the only happy jimmy owner is the person who sold theirs because they will definitely cost you a lot of money to keep on the road. Reminds me of the old Harley Davidson's because everyone you knew who owned one became a front yard mechanic just to keep the wheels rolling.
98 Chevy silverado k1500 transmission code p1870 how do you fix the problem?
Rebuild trans. Pay someone to do it too.
Where is the flasher unit on a 1996 GMC Jimmy?
the flasher unit is directly behind the kick panel in the center (same panel that your cigarette lighter is in. it takes an Allen wrench and i believe a 8 mm socket to get to. you can interchange your emergency flasher and your turn signal unit to see if that is your problem. hope this answers your question.

What is the gear ratio in the rear differential of a 1991 gmc jimmy s15?
the only way i fount that was take id number to Chevy dealer and they give you a print out of every thing that came on your vehicle.including differental gear ratio.
It could be one of two things:
A fuse
OR
The 4 wheel drive actuator
There is actually a 4x4 actuator that costs 120.00 at the dealership and 50.00 at your local auto parts store. That tends to go out if you do not use your 4x4 more than a couple of times a year. That actuator uses a vacuum line to move and shift the gearing or assist in it. The problem I had (and its the same with push button or manual shift transfer case from what I was told by Chevy) is that when I shifted into gear, it sometimes wouldn't go for a while. And sometimes it would even shift into 4x4 without me shifting it into the 4 wheel Hi setting. I replaced the actuator with the Schucks part and it works great now.
Its under the battery tray (the battery tray is held down by 4 screws, 3 in the top part of the pan where the battery is, and one screws into the pan from the wheel well). Pop that off, and you see the actuator. Its got a diaphragm with a wire going into the center, and on the bottom of the side of the actuator is the vacuum line. disconnect that vacuum line first so its out of the way. For the wire that goes into the actuator, there is a pin holding it in place. remove the pin (it holds the wire in place) and then its free to remove (once you remove the screws from the back of the actuator, there are 3 of them, and I think they are metric if I remember right).
Now when you re-install it, screw it back onto the mounting plate first so that it wont move around on you. DO NOT FORGET TO INSTALL THE VACUUM LINE IF YOU DONT INSTALL IT NOW, that would be a pain in the butt to deal with later. That pin that comes on the metal part in the notch on that diaphragm needs to actually go INSIDE the notch and pushed until the pin will hold that wire in place. Look at how the old one was in place and shove it in the notch the same way. Its a little bit hard to describe, but there is only one way that end of the pin can go into the notch so that it holds the wire in place when you shift that gear. MAKE SURE its in secure (it will be held in by itself where the pin is about in the middle of the hole so it catches and holds on the notch in the cable and wont actually come off when you insert the cable, they hold themselves in pretty well and wont come out). MAKE SURE THAT VACUUM LINE IS CONNECTED. Re-install the battery tray and battery, and fire up your car and push the button.
If the fuse did not work, then its probably this actuator. Good luck!
What would cause coolant to be in all 8 cylinders of a 350 Chevy motor?
you need to include the year and weather its a vortec! if it is a votec then I would bet that if (coolant is in all cyl's) that you have a bad intake or intake gasket these use two piece intakes lower half being aluminum and upper half being plastic and are a popular problem I would guess that your problem will be the lower half where it meets the heads gm uses less bolts than the older v8s
