My 1998 did the same thing and it was the fuel pump working intermittently. When it won't start spray some starting fluid into the intake and see if it hits, if it does it is the fuel pump or relay. If that doesn't make it start it is probably the coil pack or less likely the ignition module. Ground a spark plug and connect it to a plug wire, if it sparks when someone turns the key it isn't an ignition problem. (Due this for several plugs as there is one coil for every two plugs). To find out if the fuel pump relay is bad switch it with one of the same number. Usually there are several other things that use the same relay. (Horn, Headlights, etc.)

Your local auto parts store can sell you an inexpensive tool (under $10) that will do the job.

Check to see if any of the codes came back. Typically, if something is wrong that caused a code, it won't go away until the problem is resolved.

Connect a code scanner to see what it can detect.

If I'm not mistaken, it does not have a pcv valve, my 2000 doesn't have one on it...

Tighten the screw. Repeat this procedure for the other three wheels moving in a clockwise circle. A wheel may have to be repeated. Continue until only brake fluid comes out of the bleeder screw.

I'm pretty sure that's where the "Relay" is located not "Resistor".

The resistor may be located under or behind the glovebox.

Hi, I have a 1996 GMC Sonoma with a 5 speed manual trans, 2.2 liter (4 cylinder) engine. The pcv on my Sonoma is located on top of the valve cover on the FRONT portion of the engine. It is held in place by a screw in star shaped plug. To get to it remove the square plastic cover with GM on it that covers the accelerator cables (1 small screw on top of cover), pull the hose off, pliers to loosen plug, unscrew plug and pull out PCV.

THE HOSE going to the back of my valve cover is just a vent tube, the aluminum tube sticking out is NOT the PCV, just a sraight through tube. Lee

@ 1000 RPM - Minimum of 6 PSI

@ 2000 RPM - Minimum of 18 PSI

@ 4000 RPM - Minimum of 24 PSI

03 GMC Sonoma with the 2.2L Engine:

Minimum of 56 PSI @ 3000 RPM

pull the two bolts buy new or used ignition coil the replace the ignition coil is on th left side of motor right by the tbi
