What is direct imaging printing?
Direct image printing means the printing goes directly from the plates to the paper. They use that on newspaper printing.
- - - - -
No! "Direct Imaging" is a trademark of Presstek. Direct imaging presses are set up to make their own plates.
If you have a direct imaging press (or "DI" press) there's a box on the backside of every printing unit on the press. In it is a laser and a mechanism to move the laser from side to side. When the pressman tells the press "make plates," a sheet of blank plate material is installed on every needed unit--if you've got a six-color DI press and a two-color job, it's only going to load two sheets of plate material, not six. A computer connected to the press via Ethernet will send the job data to the press, which will make the plates. After they're burned, the press will clean them, gum them and start printing with them. The DI manufacturers say their plates are good for a 15,000-impression run, which makes them suitable for most of the printing done today. It doesn't make sense to install a DI press in a room full of conventional presses, but if you don't have a press at all and you're getting ready to buy one for short-run work it's really the way to go.

How do you put graphics on neopets in a graphics box so other people can use them?
In order to let people use graphics, you may add a textarea so they can easily copy and paste the source. Use this in coding: <textarea><img src="YOURIMAGEHERE"></textarea>
When you submit the code, a nifty box will appear underneath the graphic allowing other people to copy and paste at will.

How do you design a 6 panel brochure?
You first decide the size of the brochure.
A brochure with three panels on each side of the sheet is a "three panel" brochure, btw. I've been asked for "six panel" brochures when they actually wanted "three panel" ones.
We're going to use classical brochure sizing, which makes each panel 4" wide x 9" tall; a three panel brochure will fold out to 9" x a bit under 12". A brochure whose flat size is 8-1/2" x 11" is an abomination.
Your brochure can be laid out two ways.
One is 3 panels wide x 2 panels high - 18" x 12". On this one, one side is designed as both sides of a 3 panel brochure, with the tops of the two brochures touching. Then the reader opens it up and finds a neat little 18 x 12 poster inside. If this brochure doesn't bleed, you can run it two-up on a 19x25 sheet. If it bleeds, you'll run it on a 20x26 sheet.
The other layout is 6 panels wide x 1 panel high - 9 x 24.
This is very, very important: all the panels aren't the same width. The two outside panels - the "cover" panel and the "mailing" panel - are 4" wide. After that, subtract either 3 points or 1/16" for each panel. So...if you have a 6 x 1 brochure the panel widths are:
two outside panels: 4"
next panel: 3-15/16"
next panel: 3-7/8"
next panel: 3-13/16"
next panel: 3-3/4"
If you don't do it, the inner panels will bulge up.

4. the judaeo christian tradition- religion and art, the bible, the apocrypha, the rituals of the church
5. Oriental sacred texts-the countries of the orient, especially china, japan, and india, have all produced sacred texts of one kind or another, and these inspired various kinds of art. most fruitful have been the texts and traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism.
6. Other works of Art- these are the subjects that can be found in those works that take their subject directly from other works of art.

What is the difference between Bootzcast and Americast materials?
Americast is porcelein on steel with a thick, sprayed on acrylic/composite backing. Unlike other enamel-on-steel tubs, these do not "sound" cheap & tinny when you rap on them-they sound just like cast iron. The backing also acts as an insulator that keeps the water hot longer than cast iron, which draws heat from the water (the iron is cold). The biggest difference, and of EXTREME importance if you're installing it yourself, is that the Americast tub weighs about 110 lbs. vs. 350 lbs. for cast iron! I recently installed an Americast tub & I think it's great.

How do you utilize graphic design or visual elements in a technical document?
You can utilize graphics design and visual elements for explaining and displaying concepts through block diagrams, flow charts which are easy to understand by readers of technical documents. Like what they say "a picture is worth thousand words." That is why in applications like Microsoft Word, there are options to make drawings and also you can insert graphics and pictures from other files to make better technical documents than the ones which only contain text.
Most colleges require internships. This would really be your starting point and it is rather minimal. This can account for some experience. If you were really good with your Internship, you should look into being hired there full time post-graduation. Lots of students are asked to return to their place of internship when they finish with college and while it may not be your dream job, it will give you the experience you will need later.
Another thing to try is to do some freelance. This doesn't always mean the best money, especially when you are just starting out. It's also fairly inexpensive to get started - you just work from home. Of course you also don't have a great client base when starting out but offer to do some work for businesses in your area. When you are first starting this, it might be a good idea to actually offer your services for free - just to get your name out there. Many artists do this when they begin, and graphic designers are no exception. It will be a slow route but it will eventually get you to where you need to be.
The biggest thing about this is to really advertise yourself and your skills, because that will lead to experience. Like I said, your first job may not be your dream job, but by advertising yourself you can obtain that first job that will accept graduates with no experience yet. You will need a portfolio, and I would recommend a portfolio in several mediums - print, web, etc. The better your portfolio is, the better chance the agency might overlook your lack of work experience.
The objective right now is to aim low. You can't get your dream job without experience. Instead, try looking for agencies that may not require experience - especially a good idea if you are willing and able to relocate because that is probably what will be asked of you.
Also, if you can find out about any art shows in your area that will host a showing just for graphic design, that will be a major bonus. That can add to some experience.
I know it's frustrating, but graphic design is not the only career that requires experience at so many places of employment - but there are some out there that don't. You have to build yourself up to get where you want to be - it doesn't happen quickly by all means. Never, never, NEVER work for a profit-generating enterprise for free. It doesn't matter if you're doing graphic design work or picking the cigar butts up out of the parking lot. It does two things for you, neither good: it trains the people you're trying to get work from to expect free work, and it enrages the other graphic artists in town. That brochure you're sitting there designing for free is a brochure someone else could have been paid for. Competing against free ain't easy--just ask Adobe or Netscape. Now...if you're planning to move to another town doing the "free" thing might be okay--if you've got a letterhead in your book that you made for Steve Smith Accounting in North Carolina and you're trying to get work in Oregon, clients in Oregon are not going to call Steve to ask him how much he paid you. But if you're staying in one town, don't work for businesses for free. What you REALLY want to do is start talking to nonprofits--food banks, no-kill shelters, homeless agencies. You can work pro bono for nonprofits without upsetting anyone. You can even list the fair market value of your work as a charitable contribution on your taxes. Nonprofits need really great design to help convince people to give them money. I've seen some dynamite books from new designers that were nonprofit stuff end-to-end.
What is product lifecycle design?
Product Lifecycle Design is the 2nd step in the Development stage of Product Lifecycle Management. All products go through stages as they age. These stages are called a product's "lifecycle" and usually include Development Introduction. Growth, Maturity, Decline. The demand and profitability of a product changes as it ages through these stages. As companies became more effective at marketing, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) became an important strategy to maximize profit and demand and includes timing for product refreshes, discounting and of course new product development (NPD) and new designs to replace those in the decline stage.

RGB is color mode which is suitable for screen, CMYK for printing with process colors. In most cases to print image you will first work with it in RGB color mode because you are watching your work on screen then you will need to convert to CMYK. RGB model is created from 3 main colors Red, Green and Blue, CMYK color mode is created from 3 opposite colors to Red, Green and Blue and they are Cyan, Magenta and Yellow plus Black color Ink. You can manage colors in RGB mode by increasing or decreasing participation of Cyan, Magenta or Yellow which are opposite colors on color wheel. In Curves dialog you can increase participation of Red color for example but also decrease by increasing participation of Cyan (pull curve in opposite side).
What does K stand for in CMYK?
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, respectively.
Some people have stated that K is used because it is the last letter of "black." However, that is not correct. Black is symbolized by K, which stands for "key" because in the printing industry the black plate was used as a reference to key, or align, the other color plates.
