What would cause standing water on the passenger side of a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue?

Answer 1

If it is coolant, it is a leaking heater core. If it is just water, the A/C condenser drain line is plugged. Crawl under the car passenger side and find the drain line. Use a blunt object such as a pencil to unclog it. One other remote possibility is a leak at the windshield.

Answer 2

I just recently had this problem, did your blower motor or resistor go out to? It's because under where the cabin air filter is located the weather strip is either off, or it is not there. you have to loosen one screw to get to it under a black panel on the passenger side under the hood. Right by the vent where your wiper blades are located, ander the black panel is your answer.

Answer 3

Answers 1 and 2 are both correct, but limited. I offer the following additional information.

Regarding "coolant." Generally, when there is a coolant leak into the passenger compartment, there will be a very strong ODOR, usually not very pleasant!!! If a disagreeable odor ACCOMPANIES the leak, that confirms a coolant leak, probably the HEATER CORE, but possibly a HOSE connection to the core. It is important to MAKE SURE the core is truly defective [leaking]before replacing it, as a replacement core is expensive.

Regarding the other possible leaks in answer 1, a "leak at the winshield," or a clogged/backed up condensate "drain line." These are two possibilities, BUT there are many other possible sites for a leak admitting rainwater. One was pointed out in answer 2, which only applies for vehicles in which the RESISTOR assembly is mounted to the PLENUM[encloses the core] INSIDE the engine compartment. On many vehicles the resistor assembly is mounted inside the passenger compartment, and therefore cannot be involved in a leak.

Some other examples of possible rainwater leaks include: the gasket around the right front door, plugged drains at the bottom of the right front door, the vent window gasket [if your vehicle has one], and the right windshield wiper assembly [but only if it penetrates the COWL (firewall)]. There are probably a few more possible sources, but that is all I can think of right now.

The very first step in correcting ANY leak problem is to DETERMINE the ACTUAL SOURCE OF THE LEAK!!!!! It may not be cheap, but it will be cheaper than replacing an expensive heater core that was NOT leaking!!!!! PLUS, there is a lot of expensive LABOR required to replace a heater core!

Hope this helps. Good luck.

I had this problem and found someone took out the cabin air filter and while replacing it found the rubber trim was displaced. Popped it back on and no more water. Its under the black plastic trim vent piece between the wipers. Don't have to remove wipers just park them vertically then remove the plastic screws to check.

Where is the speed sensor on a 1990 Honda Accord located?

If you are looking for the VSS sensor driving the spedometer it is located on top of the Power Steering speed sensor housing, right below the thermostat housing. I found the information on this website very helpful, http://www.cybertrails.com/~bestinthewest/autotips/999VSSTestLocation.html. It has good pictures and troubleshooting tips. If you can't get to the site by typing the url, go to Google and do a "Honda VSS Sensor" search.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1991 Honda Accord EX video?

First you have to pull the power steering pump to get to the Alternator. There is a bolt on top that has to be removed, than an ajuster bolt on the bottom. The Alternator is pretty easy to get out, but putting it back in, is frustrating, unless you have done it before. If you don't have small hands, have someone else do it who does. It's a tight squeeze getting the ajusting screw back on.

How do you replace the turn signal lamp on a 1996 Honda Accord?

There is a little plastic flap which goes under the bottom of the bumper. Pull it back and the bulb assembly is right there. Twist and turn and the bulb will pop right out. That's for the front by the way. Correct answer: The bulbs are much easier to access by removing one Phillips screw located at the inner corner of the lens, inside the center air intake opening, in the center of the front bumper cover. The screw is driven in at an angle, (from the center toward whatever side of the car you are working on). Remove this screw, and pry the lens gently forward. A tab holds the outer end of the lens. Twist to remove the bulb socket.

When to change the timing belt on a Honda accord 1995?

It has 2 belts that must be replaced at 90,000 miles. The cam belt & the balance shaft belt. Replace both belts and I highly recommend you replace the water pump at this time which will save you labor costs later on. The water pump will not last much over 100,000 miles so just replace it now. Warning: This is an interference engine and if the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage.

Average lifespan Honda CR-V?

I own a 1997 CRV and get 27-28 mpg around town and 31-32 mpg on a trip.

To get this mileage when out of town I close the side mirrors and drive gently (95-105 kph max) as it is not the most powerful of cars.

One of the reasons I got this car is because it has better mpg than comparable brands of this size.

It is also excellent on skifield roads.

Where is the pcv valve on an '88 Honda Accord?

It is located towards the rear of the car on the intake manifold

For more info refer to haynes manual or service manual

I found the PCV valve on my 1989 Honda Accord DX (carbureted). It is at the rear side of the engine almost directly below the center of the front edge of the top of the air cleaner housing. The valve is mounted vertically in the intake manifold. The only difficulty is that the air cleaner housing has to be removed -- four nuts, as well as a number of vacuum hoses disconnected. Also ideally I need to do the whole procedure again as I didn't get the valve to seat well in the manifold; I need to find a 2" long (approx.), about 1/2 inch in diameter, piece of copper pipe or somthing similar to tap the valve down into the manifold firmly.

If a serpentine belt has cracks can it cause you to get in a serious accident?

Drive belts are used to turn the alternator , power steering pump , water pump and air-conditioning compressor , Due to their function and material make-up , the belt are prone to failure after a period of time and should be inspected for ( cracks , separation of the belt plies , fraying and glazing ) It is reccomended to inspect the belt periodically to prevent major engine damage .As for your question can this cause a serious accident ? that's hard to say ?? Be on the SAFE SIDE get the belt change, safe driving to you

I have the very same car and was just about to bring it in at Honda for a timing belt and water pump and oil change. However, once I arrived at Honda the person told me I am a year early for the timing belt change.

I have 125,000km. She said for my vehicle its 160,000km or 7 years to change the belt.

I was shocked and am now researching this...that's how I found this question. GL

When do you change a timing belt on a 1998 Honda CR-V?

Factory specifications call for 105,000 miles (under normal driving conditions).

It should be changed sooner under strenous driving conditions. The timing belt should always be changed if it is showing clear signs of wear such as cracks which could suggest it could fail at any time even before the recommended interval.
